4-0... let's do it!

Conference and relevant games for the weekend:

Thursday- Va. Tech (3-1) at Georgia Tech (3-0)
High Noon- The Good Guys (3-0) at the Bullpups (0-3)
12:30- E. Carolina (2-1) at N. Carolina (1-2)
12:30- Virginia (2-1) at Pittsburgh (2-1)
3:00- Troy (2-2) at Duke (2-2)
3:30- Satan's Team (3-0) at Boston College (2-1)
3:30- C. Michigan (1-3) at N.C. State (2-1)
3:30- Wake Forest (2-2) at Clemson (3-0)

Strength of Schedule Boost:
Florida (2-1) at Kentucky (1-2)

Close Ranked Teams:
12:00- #11 Oklahoma State (3-0) at West Virginia (2-2)
#12 South Carolina (2-1) at UCF (3-0)
3:30- #14 Oklahoma (3-0) at Notre Dame (3-1)
7:00- Arizona (3-0) at #16 Washington (3-0)

ACC Stats:

- Clemson, Florida State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Miami are all undefeated (a useless state this early).
- UM allows the least amount of points in the Coastal (2nd in the ACC to FSU). Their completion percentage is down (53.6%), but yards per rush looks good (6.0).
- Duke scores the most amount of points in the ACC. But they've also played four games. They haven't won a conference game yet.
- Georgia Tech already is 2-0 in conference play. They also haven't played a ranked team as of yet, but they'll get three shots... UM, Clemson, and Georgia.
- Va. Tech is struggling offensively , as they're 75th in rushing, 100th in passing, and 87th in scoring.
- UVA is 104th in passing, even though one of their three opponents was VMI. They are, however, 51st in rushing.
- Pittsburgh is 120th (no joke) in points allowed, giving up at least 40 points to New Mexico, FSU, and Duke. They're actually pretty good at throwing and scoring (28th and 29th).
- N. Carolina is 104th in rushing and 92nd in scoring. They're 1-2, but both losses have come against descent teams (S. Carolina, Ga. Tech).
- FSU is 5th in scoring and 3rd in points allowed. They're 3-th in passing and 19th in rushing. But calm down... they've played Pittsburgh, Nevada, and Bethune Cookman, their usual pathetic excuse for a schedule making them overhyped. You'll know more about the Noles after 10/19, when they play Clemson.

Our Opponent:

South Florida is 0-3 vs. McNeese State, Michigan State, and FAU. They're 116th in passing, 92nd in rushing, 121st in scoring, and 102nd in points allowed. Ouch.

They complete about 37.4% of their passes, and rush for about 4.1. But their running back Shaw averages about 7.0 a carry and their placekicker is pretty freaking good.

As long as they can't run the ball and O'Donnell murders them in field position, we'll be just fine. No injuries, clean game.

According to Athlon, Al Golden is now 83rd on the hot seat coaches... ahead of Bob Stoops, Jimbo Fisher, Dabo Swinney, Brady Hoke, Mark Richt, Mark Helfrich and (Oregon).

Paul Pasqualoni at UConn is first, followed by Mack Brown.
Lane Kiffin is 4th.

Art Briles (Baylor), David Shaw, Pat Fitzergald, Urban Meyer, and Nick Saban are the safest.

USF is due an old fashioned smartass little brother beat down to establish dominance and remind them of their place in this states pecking order.
I always pulled for them and took pride in the hometown teams quick rise but in the past few years they got the idea that they were gonna replace the Canes and that really pisses me off!
Their downtown billboard says,"Can U feel it?"
Saturday about 4:00 pm Im thinkin theyre gonna feel it!

I gotta believe a 56-3 thumping is in order.

Terrance Sullivan

Great stuff. Soup, UMike, LB. NativeCane I think the West Central Florida Bulls were reminded of their place in the pecking order two weeks ago getting beat at home to FAU 28-10 in Tampa. Go Canes!

VA Cane

Damn right CaneRock!!!! I am notorious for going on first sound when the D is moving around, getting set. My QB has a green light.....last week on our second series the D was movin the line and backers.....he said Sonic which is our first sound call...threw a 70 yard TD. They got to get that stuff straight. I would have had them bear crawling to hell and back for that miss on the TD. Bad D.

By the way looking at recruiting....who in the hell would want to go to UT? Bar scene in Knoxville after games is great....but that school is horrible. They have fallen a long way.....

Mountain Cane

UMike, I don't ever think you'll see as play Sav St for all the reasons you cited. The only advantage in that game was that every healthy non-redshirt candidate got to play, including walk ons. Not enough to offset the negatives you cited.

I understand the current format encourages some easier non-conference games, but with FAU, FIU, Central Fl, USF, Famu and bethune, we don't need to drop down so low in quality and fulfill that mission.

Mountain Cane

JCanes, I don't think Golden is going anywhere. I think the bloom is off the rose for the college to nfl coach move.

I'm sure recruiting can be a drag, but the college coach life has got to better than the nfl, where owners, GMs and the players are more than a challenge.

College $ has gotten much better relative to the NFL. The failure rate on the college to nfl HC job is very high.

VA Cane, yeah...that's a BIG! part of what cost us the UVA game last year. That's just NOT! supposed to happen at this level.

VA Cane

100% with you brother. Any level its bad, but with younger kids you see it. That's part of what I work on. It is a fundamental necessity to have a great stance, and to be ready. My guys are down and ready to go when they approach the ball. I teach it but I see it happen a lot with others. As for college....NO EXCUSE!!!! CR I do not know if you coach....you need to get into it if you have the time. You make great points on a regular basis that are so important. I look at you as a coach!!!

What are the chances there will be more Canes fans that Bulls fans on Saturday??

Golden said they "really tried to slow it up" last week, but that was hard to do with kids who don't get to see the field a lot.

Golden on Morris: "I expect him to be close to 100 percent as possible tomorrow." Has to 'loosen it up," no danger of reinjury.

Golden on challenge of playing in-state schools: There is an edge. These kids know each other. A lot of pride, a lot of energy and passion.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 5m

Golden said Shane McDermott will travel to #USF. "Not where he wants to be yet, but still 3 days out. I'm hopeful he'll have an opportunity"

Not sure how much of a schedule boost the Gators will be the rest of the season. Easley might be out for the season, a huge blow for their D (and their O was a mess even before Driskell went down).

VACane on CR's comment:
I said the same thing a day earlier and got my a$$ chewed for it! LOL
But it happens often enough that it's the D coaches that need to run laps! Hate to pick on D'No with the improvements Cane D has shown, but he really needs to clean that up. I'm thinking GT and their hurry-up O.

USF 30K + UM 20K = 50k MAX

Willie Taggert is the head coach at USF. Dude is the goods. He will have them back within 3 years. Never take a team coached by him lightly.

SOUP, if U haven't noticed, don't click the DM from Coach Jethro. It's spam. He's been hacked. Chris Yandle and I told him about it.

Just back from Cocoa. Tomorrow Orlando.

No time for any blogging.

Ohio...thanks for the heads up.

U think it was OGV? Just kidding!

OK, that CB in front of His name explains some things. PHEW!, for a minute there, I thought we were recruiting Him as a WR.
