Yes Sir, my bad. I retract my previous comment.

We get made fun of on ESPN EVERY time they talk about us. BCS Countdown show they were all saying how our #7 ranking is a mirage, we're no where near the caliber of FSU, and the game will be over by midway through the 2nd quarter

CalgaryCane

Golden will likely change his tune going forward with the QB being part of the competition....he'd better. It's almost like his way of thanking the older guys (Morris obviously, Duke to some degree) for sticking things out while changing the mindset for the younger folks coming in. Hard to do both ways though. Williams clearly has a higher football IQ and is putting in more of the mental work.

Yup. Nobody likes working for an ungrateful boss.

WWIN

Soup, I have a better question for em...

What would our offense be with Johnny Football with the weapons we have vs what would Texas am's offense be with SM17??????

SOUP

Ohio...I'm jus messin wit U. But I do like your Elway pick, even if I would have chosen Marino. If Morris mans up vs FSU then U win! Deal?

SOUP

Ohio...remember when OGV said if the Canes beat Florida, which NOBODY thought we would, that "Golden and UM would set the world on fire"? And then we did?

Well, if we beat FSU then we are definitely gonna make it HOT on college football again. Just the way it SHOULD be.

GO CANES, BEST FSU!!!

CalgaryCane

1) Bcuz we could EASILY be 4-3 with him.

2)Also, if he isn't heeled up yet why are we jeopardizing his health?

3) Are you satisfied with what he's doing now?

4) I'm still waiting on you to answer my last question?

Posted by: Willie Will in Nashville | October 27, 2013 at 09:12 PM

1. True

2. He's doing what the coaches want him to do... Minus the misses.

3. Not quite, but I respect him for coming to play for the U when others were going elsewhere.

4. Nothing more to say. You win.

WWIN

Cal, you are too funny lol

You can't move forward without somebody behind you pushing you, in team concepts

Don't get me wrong, which I think you are, I'm a HUGE Morris fan and I got into debates wit fans over him last year like you are now. But the truth is the truth.

Its all good wit me, I don't have a problem wit you you have the right to your opinions and I'm jus tellin you mines. Not that you took it that way but IJS jus in case you did.

A very telling question. The coaches have a plan... I was surprised when they first ran Duke on two long stretches...I was like wondering...is Coley crazy?...it's clear now that they have been intending to be a run first offense... The coaches know what they are doing...Duke didn't throw himself down to block much this last game to avoid injury... Bad as Morris is playing, he keeps the opposing defence honest with his deep threat. As long as they can get the win, they'll play him. My excuses have been well documented in earlier posts.

Don't care about winning discussions. Just want the Canes to win. If Morris plays like I know he CAN, we got this. If not, we're losing by 20+

That's cool, I got some extra $$$ after selling Terrances tix to the Wake game. LOL

BTW...TSully I got $90 with your name on them them. Will bring to the FSU game, cool?

In advance of his this week’s battle of undefeated in-state rivals, Miami head coach Al Golden released the Hurricanes' latest depth chart Sunday night.

No. 7 Miami (7-0, 3-0 ACC) enters Saturday’s ACC showdown against No. 3 Florida State with a nine-game winning streak and looks to become 8-0 for the first time since 2002. Miami leads the all-time series 31-26 against the Seminoles. Saturday’s game, which is also the site of College GameDay, will kick at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

While Miami’s offensive depth chart remains unchanged from last week, a few changes have been made on the defensive side. Senior Justin Renfrow is listed as the starter at defensive tackle after being a co-starter last week.

Senior Tyrone Cornileus replaces Thurston Armbrister as one of the starters at outside linebacker. Armbrister moved to No. 2 behind Denzel Perryman at the second outside linebacker position. Junior Ladarius Gunter is now the starter at cornerback (was previously a co-starter with Artie Burns).

Lol...and I am not a huge Morris fan. With a another QB, we might be killing every game. But I don't think it's a good idea to switch QBs like some folk here want. Frankly I wouldn't know as I don't know how good William's is...even so, if he were that good, we might see him with some play time against FSU...and I don't mean garbage time... I would like to see him in red-zone, QB sneaks, toss to the TE...

No harm with respectful debates. Cheers.

Cal:

It didn't like it was going to be a run first offense to start the season. The last few games, especially after how the UNC game went, changed things. As the UNC game moved along, AG and JC clearly changed their mindset and switched to run first. The good thing for the U was that even when UNC knew we were going to run, we still could. This wasn't too bad vs. WFU either, especially for both later in the game, as we clearly showed we were in shape and wore down the run Ds over time. Somehow, I don't think this mentality will come even close to working vs. FSU. If they knew we're run first and we simply try to do it anyway, we'll be screwed. Our coaching staff knows this and we'll obviously mix things up, with adding some new O (as has already been said). If Morris hits, if we can catch FSU offguard like GTECH did to us to start the game, who knows?? I'd like to keep myself as optimistic as possible. The problem is when the realist side of me kicks in.

As for spreads, Vegas is usually pretty on the ball. There's a reason we're not getting much respect now. The FU win isn't counting for much now that it's clear that the turds have no offense (yet still managed to look better offensively vs. the U than they did against many other teams this season)....and our O vs. FU wasn't bad just because FU has a really good D. Morris wasn't so great in that game, although he hit a beautiful long one early in the game. The problem is the rest of the time.

I'm done commenting on Morris for the week. Time to be supportive, as it's FSU week.

Hard to say what is key for us to beat FSU, since there seems to be so many issues the last few games... But for me, I would focus on a few plays that will give Morris time to throw his deep ball. ...also if it is remotely possible, teach him to throw a screen pass when blitzed.

Posted by: CalgaryCane | October 27, 2013 at 08:38 PM

I still think we have a fighting chance of winning... Maybe against FSU, Morris will play like he's on fire...maybe DNo will blitz like there's no tomorrow? Who knows...I enjoying this season much more than last. I look forward to the next year with anticipation! ..for an even better team!

Totally see it that way too. Actually, our game has been spread out the defence for the first half then ram it down their throats in the second. I think they changed it slightly against Wake...thinking that we could get by we less injuries.

However, The first 2 drives for that game died unexpectedly as first drive Dallas was not able to convert a 3rd and short and second drive Morris threw 2 offs. Which led the game to be what it was.

We still have a decent run first game...just need to find a way to disrupt Winston...and hope Morris will be in synch come Saturday.

Noles are such huge favorites because they are obviously better than us right now, but the spread is really designed to attract equal money on both sides of the bet.

The Noles produced a very visible drubbing of a decent Clemson team who everyone saw beat Georgia, who was well thought of at the time. This brought a lot of positive thinking about the Noles.

We had a very visible thursday nite squeaker against UNC that put a negative halo around us. The Wake game didn't make that go away.

The combination produces a big point spread. If we turn it over like UNC, then FSU could clearly cover. If we don't turn it over and play average, we'll lose by 10-14 points. If we get a couple turnovers and Winston hits a bump which he has no experience with, we could surprise the world.

Montreal-Cane

WOW They really made fun of Miami at the end of the BCS show.Just have the Canes listen to the end of the show. Extra motivation...

Miami's number 7 ranking is a mirage" ~ Jesse Palmer... then they laughed said Wake did put 21 on the Canes Morris and the Defense ha...ha...ha...

On another subject...

Al Golden, when asked today about "big" FSU game: "I plan on being here a long time and being a part of a lot of these games."

herbieibis

No sense in blitzing unless we are going to press cover. We have to be the worst blitzing team in America. I mean the idea on a blitz is for someone to come free but we seem to run into everyone when we blitz.
I like the potential of our young secondary, what I don't like is the time our Dee-line gives the opposing QB too throw.
We can all make analogies about why this & why that but this is the facts: we are lucky to be 7-0, we will be lucky to keep the game close next Sat. FSU has not had a bad game in a month and we are not great at rushing the QB and even though we have 20 sacks or more, this season, FSU has one of the top 5 o-lines in the country, so don't look for us to dominate in that area. If you look on paper the big question is how can we beat them and my only answer is T.O.'s. If we can some how hold them to 400 yds and we can somehow manage 300, we can win. I don't see us getting 100yds rushing, unless someone breaks along run, so Morris is going to have to carry us. This is the first time The Herb has ever felt helpless when we play anyone but talent wise we are not close to them at this juncture. Truth be know, how many starters do we have that could start for them? I counted 4 maybe 5 and one of them is our punter. I'm sure we will give a gallant effort Saturday but this a mountain, I don't see us climbing, unless we produce at least 4 t.o.'s.

coldcane

Herb...be cool dude...we are going to be alright, you are wrong about the talent, their talent is not that far from ours. Y'all act like Miami's players don't have pride and they are gonna go out there and just lay down...that ain't gonna happen...our boys will not quit and they will not get tired...trust me...that means something...21 point dogs myass...I just hope D'no blitzes them and challenge our corners to play man to man...I see what FSShoes has done, I am wary of them...I am nervous(I am always nervous when the U plays) but I am not scared...our boys are gonna ball..12% baby!

Herb is right in that FSU is clearly more talented across the board, but talent doesn't always win games. The Canes are more experienced than FSU, and if the game is close, the Canes will find a way to win.

This is why they play the games. Just win baby!

They have a sginificantly better D-Line, for sure. And Joyner is an Ed Reed-like presence in their defensive backfield. Miami has nobody right now who seems likely to grow into somebody as dangerous as he is.

On offense, I'm not convinced they're hugely better on a man-by-man basis (certainly Duke is better than their backs, and our WRs can flat-out ball). EXCEPT that Jameis Winston is clearly special, and Steven Morris is not. And a great QB makes the guys around him look better. If UM can disrupt Winston, and turn their offense into merely the sum of its parts, I think Miami's talent actually stacks up pretty well.

They're a better team right now, but UM has like FIVE days to get ready. UM will be fine.
