If Louisville keeps Clint Hurtt employed after this, will speak to the desperation of keeping its South Fla connection alive.

Apparently, L'ville can decide whether Hurtt stays on or not.

Now, if we're talking Tom Petty on this blog, these great lines come to my mind:

"I felt so good like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There's something good waitin' down this road
I'm pickin' up whatever's mine."

Texas, that means that we can have a MAX of 82 on scholly in a given year. UM can split those up in different ways, though.

Example: 3 (2014) - 3 (2015) - 3 (2016)

Or

Example: 1 (2014) - 6 (2015) - 2 (2016)

As far as I know, they can split the 9 over 3 however they'd like/need to.

The NCAA has been told Miami accepts its sanctions. No appeal from Hurricanes. This saga, by and large, ends today.

I said it many times 15 ships total at the most...We got 9 (3 per year for 3 years)...I think i am ok with that...

Miami will ask for a reduction starting next year...We have nothing to lose...As for some reporters just ignore what they write...Come here on Canespace to get your Canes news...

BigWindyCane1

This does not necessarily impact Aubrey Hill because he now coaches at Carol City (in Miami-Dade) high school. Carol City has UM Commit Trayon Gray, who is a really, really good athlete. I saw Gray play against MNW, and he scored two touchdowns and could not be stopped. Gray could be a great RB or WR, or could even play on defense. CC plays Miami Central on Friday, and I will try to attend to compare Gray with Cook and Yearby up close.

Side Note: reading the updates on the Sean Taylor trial, why does there need to be a trial! These lazy @ss cowards broke into a home looking for cash. You can stop right there for me. You break into a house, you deserve what you get, hopefully 2 to the chest and one to the head to confirm!

I know there are a couple of legal folks on here, so maybe you can help me understand the "case". Why is there a defense lawyer? How can you morally defend someone who took someone else's life breaking into their home and trying to still money??? You should just come out and ask the mercy of the court, apologize to the family and got find a place to beg God for forgiveness!!!

I hate lazy people, I hate even more lazy people who try to get over hard working people. If you want to be lazy do it on your own. Hard working people already pay taxes so you can continue to be lazy. Now you want to go and try and rob them "again"!

Sorry for the rant, but had to get that of my chest!!!!

The University of Miami received the NCAA Committee on Infractions report this morning, concluding a more than three-year process that included an investigation conducted by the NCAA and an appearance by senior University officials before the Committee on Infractions in June.

The University cooperated fully with investigators and took responsibility for its actions by proactively self-imposing severe penalties, including an unprecedented two-year bowl ban in football, withholding the football program from competing in the ACC Championship Game in 2012, and instituting substantial recruiting restrictions.

The University accepts the findings and the additional penalties as detailed in the Committee on Infractions report and will not appeal. The University is grateful to the Committee for a fair and thorough hearing.

As a proud member of the NCAA, the University of Miami remains committed to its fellow institutions and to the core principles that we—the members of the association—have always believed in.

To read more about the NCAA Investigation of the University of Miami, visit www.miami.edu/ncaainvestigation

The following are statements from the Chair of the Board of Trustees Leonard Abess, President Donna E. Shalala, and Director of Athletics Blake James:

University of Miami Board of Trustees Chair Leonard Abess:

“The University of Miami moves forward today stronger and rededicated to the high ideals that have always sustained it. I am proud of our leadership and staff, who conducted themselves throughout this process with integrity, forthrightness, and in the spirit of full cooperation.”

President Donna E. Shalala:

“The Committee on Infractions report closes a challenging chapter in the history of the University of Miami.

“I am grateful to our coaches, staff and student-athletes for their dedication to the University and to intercollegiate athletics. I also want to thank Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford for his steadfast support.

“Finally, I want to apologize to the Hurricane family, as we have asked for your patience, faith and support during a difficult time. Thank you for standing with us.”

Director of Athletics Blake James:

“Our honest and committed efforts to address these allegations have made us stronger. We have already taken many proactive steps to ameliorate any concerns, and we will continue to improve in all areas. Now it is time we look ahead and work diligently to support our student-athletes.”

“Further, I would like to express heartfelt appreciation to our staff and families who did not subscribe to this challenge three years ago, yet courageously adopted it as their own. They have brought the utmost professionalism, resiliency and integrity to our program. For all of us who love this University and are passionate about our student-athletes and our teams, the past few years have been difficult. Yet today, we can be proud of how our Hurricane family, led by President Shalala, handled the challenges, acted with integrity and, simply, always did what we believed was the right thing to do.

Today is about looking ahead and moving forward but not starting over. Hurricane Athletics experienced one the most successful years in our history in 2012-2013, because of our exceptional student-athletes, tremendous coaches and your support. Fifteen of our eighteen sports teams participated in NCAA postseason play including our men’s basketball team, who were ACC regular-season and tournament champions; our women’s tennis team, ACC champions; and our storied baseball program, which competed in its 41st consecutive NCAA Tournament. As important, Miami continues to be among the nation’s leaders with a 93% Graduation Success Rate and received recognition for the academic achievements of many of our student-athletes.

Two of our crowning achievements in 2013 were made possible by the tremendous support we continue to receive from Canes supporters. We opened the state-of-the-art Theodore G. Schwartz and Todd G. Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, built through a $15 million campaign coordinated by the Hurricane Club. In addition, thanks to its award-winning #BuildingChampions campaign, the Hurricane Club now has a record-high of over 6,800 active members, an increase of nearly 2,000 in two years.

On behalf of the more than 400 student-athletes, 200 staff members and coaches and the thousands of alumni and friends throughout the world, thank you for standing with the U!

I stand with the U always! Now it’s time to move Full Speed Ahead.

Go Canes!

Let me frame it like this: Self-impose scholly's. Don't tell NCAA and let them make a decision on reductions only knowing about the bowl bans, etc. After they make a decision, UM comes out and says "Oh, hey guys, U want us to reduce by 9 over 3 years? Well, we already sanctioned ourselves 'XX amount' last year. U mind reducing that 9 now?"
