Yup

NativeCane

Dang UMike, I been sitting here since 4:30 trying to be the early bird!
Is FSU ripe for a fall or is Winston really Superman?

DEM CANES!!!

UMike

I was able to watch the last drive of the 2nd quarter and most of the 3rd and start of the 4th last night and I don' think Morris played that bad. There was a handful of bad throws, but the lack of scoring and/or driving seemed to be the O-Lines fault if anyones lol...If Walford does not drop that pass, we do not get denied on 4th and 1 and most likely put 3 or 7 points on he board. Another drive Morris was quickly sacked on 3rd and 5.

I did not see the first half, but from he second half, imo, I don' think Morris was to blame for the close game. He also didn't have many drives, seems like WF had the ball a lot lol

e grew up as a Cuban-American in Little Havana two blocks from the Orange Bowl — “on Northwest Fourth Street and 18th Avenue” — and occasionally would sneak into football games with other neighborhood kids to catch his hometown Hurricanes bully the competition.

“Or if it was a big game, there were scalpers and you’d wait until after it started and see it basically for free,” James Coley said. “Growing up in the Orange Bowl you’re a Miami fan, right?”

Right.

Until you go to college at Florida State, get your undergraduate degree there in 1997, attend every game you can at Doak Campbell Stadium and eventually become the Seminoles offensive coordinator.

“A lot of winning going on,” Coley said.

A lot of winning going on now, too.

Coley, 40, returned to his roots in January to become UM’s offensive coordinator for a substantial raise, expanded role in calling the plays and a chance to be near his folks in South Florida.

He might not have envisioned his new team being 7-0 and ranked seventh in the nation when it was time to meet his old team — ranked third and also 7-0 — on Saturday in Tallahassee, but he expects his return to Doak Campbell will “be everything it’s cracked up to be. It’s a fun game.”

Last October, the Seminoles came into Sun Life Stadium ranked 14th with a 6-1 record and defeated the 4-3 Canes 33-20, outgaining Miami 447 to 258 yards — 218 of those rushing. This year, FSU has a Heisman Trophy candidate in redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston and a team that is dominating in pretty much every way imaginable.

But Coley and UM coach Al Golden insist that the Canes gain no advantage with Coley’s vast knowledge of FSU coach Jimbo Fisher’s system.

“I don’t think it helps at all,” Golden said. “The whole defense has changed. So, it’s not like we can learn about what they’re doing differently on defense” with new coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. “It’s really a nonfactor.”

Coley spent the past five seasons as an assistant to Fisher, the past three as Fisher’s offensive coordinator. But it was Fisher who called the plays on game day, while Coley — known as one of the finest recruiters in the country — spent every week studying the defense of FSU’s next opponent, scripting the plays and teaching his offense.

“I always said Coley’s a great offensive mind,” Fisher said Monday. “He’s got a great future in this business.”

Golden is especially pleased with Coley’s sideline deportment in stressful situations and his ability to calmly overcome deficits with play-calling that mixes various elements of the offense.

Native..I just happened to come on lol...I think Winston is he real deal. Doesn't mean FSU isn't beatable, but Winston is legit and will give us fits for a couple years.

NativeCane

Soup, Bobby is Florida treasure, I can remember when them bums were trying to throw him out I would have gladly took him and gave them Coker!

DEM CANES!!!

NativeCane

Yeah UMike, Im afraid youre right about Winston, I was hoping he would take a while to develop like Charlie Ward.

Every dog has his day and if its not Saturday then it could be the first week of December, in the ACC championship.

DEM CANES!!!

UMike

Im still waiting to see if us having Coley will be an advantage for us or them lol

SOUP

Native...I used to post the articles at 5 AM but I bumped it up to 6 AM, and caught U napping! Bobby was good for FSU no matter how U slice it although I did feel it was time for him to go at the end of his reign there. Did U check email from last night?

Keoki

F' the Noles!

We can go deep on them & that will open the door for everything else; O-line blocking & blitz pickup is crutial.

GO CANES!!!

SOUP

Question of the day. I wonder how FSU fans would answer that question? The proof will be on game day but I am curious as to what they might say?

Surfercane

I like Bobby Bowden class act!

Jose rose was just call out on wqam for interviewing for all CANEZ enemies HC and his response was " I'll bring on whatever coach I want I don't work for Miami" and this are flagship station. Maybe it time to switchover to the 790 the ticket

Why would you ever listen to Joe Rose in the first place? I mean ever. If you've ever had a thought, why would you listen to that stooge?

LB

Rose and Randy Shannon were downright sexual on the radio together. The only thing spicier than their relationship is #Sutrel.

Per Athlon:

Mid-season All-American:
Duke Johnson, KR (2nd Team)

- Still #3 in the Power Rankings in the ACC

LB

Headslap:

Susan just asked Coley how he felt attending FSU's football games as a student.

Seantrel better get her butt in gear.

LB

Golden with an actual media persona.

ESPN posted on Twitter that Morris as 10 TD's and 3 INT's in the first half of games and 1 TD and 5 INT's in the second half...got to fix that

Careful or U'll be called a homer! LOL

SOUP

UMike is a HOMER!

UMike

I have been called worse on this blog lol

UMike

So Im a negative nancy AND a homer? Im so confused lol

SOUP

LB...U know something, actually people don't understand how hard a job it is to be a really good interviewer for the radio or TV media. It take practice and skill. I am amazed at the really good ones.

SOUP

UMike is bi-polar!

He goes from From Negative Nancy to Homer Simpson. LOL

UMike

Adding to that comment, from what I saw Morris was off balance all day and mostly due to pressure. Also..and no taking anything away from Coley on his great catch, but I dont think it needed to be like that. It looks like he slowed and jumped almost looking to create contact. If he doesnt jump he might catch that in stride. imo of course

UMike

Kaaya's mom posted a pic 2016 WR Dymond Lee (Kaaya's teammate) wearing a Canes sweater and throwing up the U at his birthday dinner. He has a Canes offer.

Win out, win ACC CG, win National Championship.

Sounds pretty good to me.

UMike

The stage is set. College Gameday will be in Tallahassee. The eyes of the nation will be on Miami and Florida State on Saturday Night. This rivalry is truly special. No one is giving the Canes a chance, but that's fine with me. FSU is favored by 22. I pick the game and discuss the intangibles. Motivation and respect matter in college football.

Since Brent Musburger will be calling Saturday night’s game, I decided to start my article with a quote from his friend and colleague Eminem. It is officially Miami Florida State week. My last trip to Doak Campbell was victorious as I watched the Canes hang on to win 38-34 on the game’s final play. This rivalry has always been a special part of my life. I am very excited that College Gameday will be in Tallahassee on Saturday. Miami has come a long way under Al Golden and an appearance on college football’s biggest weekly stage is well deserved. My favorite memory of the UM FSU rivalry was Miami’s 27-24 upset win over Number 1 ranked Florida State in 2000. The Orange Bowl ran out of water and food due to the intense heat, but adrenaline carried the fans through the afternoon. Dan Morgan dominated and Jeremy Shockey earned his spot in Miami lore with the game-winning touchdown. Ken Dorsey shined under pressure and set the stage for an incredible winning streak from 2000-2002.

As many readers know, the Wake Forest game was my first experience watching a Miami game from the press box. I was able to remain professional and quiet for the most part, but my hand motions and facial expressions told the story of a nervous second half. I was basically a version of Kramer repeating “Serenity Now” to not respond loudly to what I was experiencing. Against FSU, my role will return to watching games as a fan and I expect to lose my voice early in the second quarter due to pent-up energy. I enjoyed discussing ACC football with ESPN.com’s Andrea Adelson during the Wake game. We were the only ones focused on trying to watch Georgia Tech play Virginia while covering UM WF simultaneously. It was exciting to have the national spotlight back on Canes football where it belongs. Follow me @JPickens15 for picks and stadium thoughts from games across the country.

Ohio, if you predict a blow out of FSU, Miami will win in a close game hahaha

CANEINSIDER ‏@CANEINSIDER 3m

@ChrisFreet any truth to Miami returning half of the 10k ticket allotment for the FSU game?

Chris Freet ‏@ChrisFreet 41s

@CANEINSIDER we have 5,500 tickets. We returned 2,000 based on demand from Hurricane Club members.

Ohio_Cane

Dear football gurus, tell me if U think this would work on offense for Canes.

Set up in I-formation with Dallas at FB and Duke at RB behind morris. Walford at TE. Coley and Herb out wide.

Shift to 5-wide and run spread from there.

Because of personnel groupings on D, there would be at least 2 mismatches out wide in Clive, Dallas and/or Duke.

UMike

Any play that has the ball in Duke or Walford's hands is normally good lol

LB

"LB...U know something, actually people don't understand how hard a job it is to be a really good interviewer for the radio or TV media. It take practice and skill. I am amazed at the really good ones."

It is. But the study of media criticism has gone by the wayside in favor of the quick and easy. Insightful, entertaining people like Colin Cowherd and Sid Rosenberg provide thoughtful information and relevance to consumers (us).

The more I read/listen to Miami media, the more disappointed I become in the sheer lack of originality. The deeper you scratch and study what it is they're trying to sell to consumers, the more brainless and intellectually dishonest it becomes. In fact, it's not really information at all. It simply "is," in a game of "what if's" and "maybes" from the stargazing to the possible philosophy of opposing fanbases to social interactions of college life in general.

It is pathetic.

It's terribly disappointing because Al Golden is not only a good coach, but extremely savvy with media. The idea of 3-Penny filming wasn't new; he did it at Temple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE3oAmD0TzI

UM fans deserve better; that's why I was so irritated at Casagrande departing.

I criticize coaches and players much less than media because they stand on multiple platforms... public, private, academic, athletic, etc. Media has one task: disseminate relevant information for consumers.

My apologies to my fellow Spacers for my soapbox. The above post is why I enjoy CaneSpace so much... intelligent people who get it.

I appreciate you all.

I do not think we will be there early enough for Game Day but seeing TSully puffing a cigar while holding two beers, a water bottle and throwing up the U would be sweet!

Saw the Clemson FSU game last night first 3 quarters. Clemson choked! FSU is good but not unbeatable.

Key to this Saturday's game is the Def not making any mistakes. If we hold them to within two scores... we will be able to wear them down and do our thing in the second half.
