DJM:
UM only trails in the series until tomorrow. Then, the series will be tied until next year the U pulls away. We're at the beginning of a new era for Hurricane top 10 football.
Think I'll skip watching FSU-Clemson on Saturday, as I'm not sure I can decide who I want to win anyway! I just want to see dem Canes keep winning.

I feel better about handing them a curb stomping now that I know they lead in the series.

As much as it sucks to see FSWho win, it actually helps us a ton to play them undefeated

^^^^^
I think we are better off playing a 1 loss fswho and a undefeated Clemson

I agree: 34-31
Posted by: SOUP | October 17, 2013 at 12:47 AM
If we really want to get delusion-ally ahead of ourselves then we want Clemson to win Saturday and go undefeated into the ACC CG. That way when UM plays them for "all the marbles" BOTH teams will be undefeated and the winner will surely vault over an undefeated OSU team and all of the one loss teams beneath us for the #2 spot in the BCS!
Now back to our regularly scheduled reality! Beat UNC!!!!!
Go 'canes!

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The 2013 Miami Hurricanes, unlike some of their predecessors, do not seem to particularly crave attention.
But Thursday night, just past sunset in the cool, rolling hills of an area known as The Research Triangle, that’s exactly what they’ll get.
Lots of it.
The No. 10 Hurricanes (5-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) will put their perfect record on the line against — at least until now — an underperforming North Carolina team (1-4, 0-2) in front of a national television audience and slew of NFL scouts at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
It’s the only college game that night, and Kenan has been a place of nightmares before for the Canes, who watched the goalposts get torn down by jubilant Tar Heel fans after UNC shocked the 6-0 and then-No. 4 Canes on a last-second field goal in 2004.
Miami is still the highest-ranked team Carolina has ever beaten and the Heels’ only win over a program ranked in the AP top five.
“That is again what we’re trying to establish,” UNC coach Larry Fedora said, calling the matchup a “tremendous opportunity for us to showcase not only the Tar Heels but our stadium, our game-day atmosphere, Chapel Hill, the community, everyone involved. I mean, Thursday nights have become huge in college football because everyone is watching.”
UNC spokesman Kevin Best said nearly 40 credentials were requested by NFL scouts, the most he has distributed for a game.
Miami, 1-4 at UNC all time, is 15-3 (.833) on Thursday night ESPN broadcasts, with the highest winning percentage of any current ACC school. North Carolina is 6-5 on Thursdays, including its 27-10 opening-night loss this season at South Carolina.

In the buildup to his 5-0 Canes visiting 1-4 North Carolina on Thursday, Golden was invited repeatedly this week to wax pleased on his top 10, but would say only: “At the end of the season we’ll count them up and see where we are.”
Understand, UM football lived in the national top 10 once upon a wonderful time, and Golden knows it because he studied it before leaving Temple to take this job.
He was drawn to the attitude that — around here — you don’t celebrate merely getting to the top 10 because that is your home. You own it. You belong there.
Miami has had two remarkable top-10 streaks in its football history.
The first lasted from November 1985 into September 1994. Across 10 straight seasons, Miami would play 103 consecutive games as a top-10 team — 86 of those ranked in the top five, and 26 as No. 1.
I lived the first chunk of that amazing run, having covered UM full-time during the Jimmy Johnson years of 1984-88. That’s when Hurricanes swagger took seed, and bloomed fast and outrageously colorful, and big.
The second great run was from September 2000 into November 2003. Touching four straight seasons, UM would play 43 consecutive games as a top-10 team — 40 of those in the top five, and 22 at No. 1.
Those were the two great, defining eras that produced five national championships.
In Golden, and this team, there is fresh hope for the next great era, but getting to No. 10 simply means you have arrived at the starting line.
The top 10 mustn’t be someplace you visit occasionally; you must take up permanent residence.

Though this was interesting...someone on CIS posted that 2016 WR Michael Irvin, Jr. is a now a 4-Star according to Scout. I didn't know their was an Irvin Jr lol
Posted by: UMike | October 17, 2013 at 06:26 AM
From a Rivals article posted on CIS..
"As of right now, I'm still committed," Kaaya said after his game Friday night. "I'm not telling (Miami) anything crazy. It's all smooth right now."
I think his commitment is getting softer as time passes. Not saying he wont end up a Cane, but it isn't the lock is appeared to be a couple months ago imo.

UMike-Michael Irvin has gone on record saying there are 3 things certain in life -death, taxes, and his son going to the U

U-44 UNC 0--thats unless UNC has a "Barth Clone" kicking then they will get 3
Posted by: TJL | October 17, 2013 at 08:09 AM
TJL..I havent seen his file and dont know how good he is, I have heard his nephew Tim Irvin is pretty good. But Scout has him as a 4-Star already along with RB commit Mark Walton.

Miami will be tested by the UNC offense with Brenner back. They are averaging 293 yards passing per game. However, UNC has a horrible offensive line and struggles to run the ball. They are a one dimensional team. Get them in 3rd and longs and put pressure on Brenner to cause turnovers.
UNC defense give up 31 points per game which ranks them 95th overall. If the Canes quit coughing the ball up , I see Miami putting up a total in the 40's.
My call is Canes win 45-24.

We need to create a pass rush and hopefully get a pick or two. We should be able to slow or stop the rush, but we can't let Renner pick us apart. This will be the biggest passing test for our D so far imo. We also get a chance to see if our LB's can hang with a good TE.
Posted by: UMike | October 17, 2013 at 11:58 AM
With an extra week of preparation I can't see the Canes winning by less than two touchdowns.
Great stage tonight for our young players to shine and the U to look like the top tier program it's become again under coach Golden.
