I just freed up 6% of my DVR by deleting the game from last night. For the record, I didn't watch any of the game.

Account Deleted

fellow spacers this week we will see
if our losing streak reaches three
and if the reason is poor D
will we be saved by our leader AG

will he chose to set us free
or will he say just let things be
will he lead us to a "V"
or will they fold and take a knee

for this game is not about me
it's a game designed for we
and what may really bring us glee
is to say farewell to No'd......

WWIN

I wanna be the fly on the wall when golden and d'no talk to the defensive recruits parents, I wonder what questions they would ask...

Hmmmm???????

SOUP

I think OGV should be allowed to have his say.

Posted by: The Dude | November 10, 2013 at 05:23 PM

I was waiting for this and am surprised it didn't come sooner. I was thinking today as I drove THREE hours to get home: "Was OGV right and we ALL were wrong"?

SOUP

OGV can post ANYTIME, he is not banned and he klnows this but is on suspension. We may need him back, and SOON!

We went to the FSU game together.

If you haven't thought that by today, U A DAMN LIE!!!!!

WWIN

^^^^^^^^
Maybe...

Chad Thomas dad: "Are y'all going to run that same defensive scheme when my son gets there"?

Golden or d'no: ????????

Account Deleted

can someone refresh me on the OGV perspective of things??

Terrance Sullivan

1. Yes, he is because that is technically the QB's job (see: Peyton Manning) but our QB has no clue what to do so his coach has to do it for him.

2. Who is "WE"? It is I, #17.

That is all.

Posted by: SOUP | November 10, 2013 at 07:12 PM
Soup U are spot on again.

Terrance Sullivan

OGV was most likely right and unfortunately we were probably wrong. CoCane and others called this as well. SMDH that we lost this game last night. Do we at least be as good as we were in 2009 and finish 9-4 I hope we at least finish 10-3 with being a bowl win in there probably the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando. and if that happens at least record wise that would have been the best season since 2003. we still need to win a bowl havent done that since 2006, and need to try to win 10 games havent done that since 2003. Go Canes!

WWIN

Soup, do you now understand the tone I had this past week??? Lol

dj moonbat

Well, the thing is, being ultra-down on Golden doesn't really help anything. It just bums OGV et al. out all the time.

Being right isn't always a whole lot of fun.

Golden's a smart guy, I think. But he seems to think that staying positive and moving forward trumps everything, including his team/staff's ongoing pattern of playing bad football.

Hopefully, somebody can impress upon him that losing a game like this one, to that particular team, is not just another step in The Process. There's got to be accountability. If Golden won't make sure there is some real change, then at some point after the team has continued to suck for a couple years, the AD will do something.

SOUP

Moonbat...if U were at the game last night, in the cold, misty rain with the fans that showed up, then U would already know this:

1. The tide has turned.
2. The blood is in the water.
3. The angst and profanity is off the charts.

Canesteeler

Raizecane ditto for me. Matter of fact I am still pissed today!

This is what becomes the beginning of the end and the break down of the team.

Winning out now becomes a must, another embarrassing loss and the sharks will start to circle. With that players will quit and the season will tank. Probably a good thing we're on the road this week. If we were at home and lost it would be even worse.

Well, it's a shame it had to come to that. Al needs to understand, though, that when we lose the same way, again and again, it's just not OK. As long as we were getting better, and only losing to obviously stellar teams like FSU, I was willing to trust The Process.

Now, not so much.

SOUP

The problem is that "The Process" is clearly flawed.

Terrance Sullivan

The Process is clearly flawed and needs to be fixed.

THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE THE DAY THAT THE MIAMI HURRICANES HAVE A CHANCE TO LOSE TO DUKE!!..I WANT TO BE GOOD AGAIN. WE ARE A JOKE RIGHT NOW

Jramos

Lost a little hope yesterday, was devastated last night. Woke up today and thought.... "when was the last time the Canes won an important game like this...Sadly I can't recall. Is been dejavu for over 8 yrs now. Sadly same O Canes!!!! Tired of the B.S.

Jramos

We have gone back instead of forward these last two games. The game against FSU i can swallow but this game......is unacceptable!!!

Watching the post game interview last night AG looked beaten and lost. He made no statement from what I read and just took questions. Most of the time it seemed he just looked down and answered with the usual responses. NO'd kept his head up, but had no answers at all except to blame execution and tackling. Funny, aren't those things he's supposed to teach?

If we can give AG some credit then let's hope he realizes what a failure last nights game was, and the impact long term on the season and future.

The problem is I'm no longer sure he knows what to do about it. Three weeks ago I wasn't sure we'd turned the corner. Now I'm certain we have not......

Montreal-Cane

From the Herald...good points...

Paul Williams DB coach needs to go today, another Temple coach Golden brought with him. LB play is result of players leaving before season started Paul etc..,DL is being taught to contain and not pressure. Bottom line Athletic director has to tell Golden get rid of DNO or leave. I like Golden, good person good recruiter good head coach but he's delegating authority to the wrong coaches(DNO) and that's making him look bad. Give Coley a break this year since he went with old system to help make it easier on the players. But if Jedd Fisch is available i would consider taking him back.

herbieibis

The old adage about leading a horse to water but you can't make them drink, we must have a thirsty bunch on defense because obiviously, they aren't buying what Golden & DeNo are selling or they are just plain stupid. The other problem is the mediocre QB play we've had for 8 years. We haven't any consistency from any of them, not Wright, Freeman, Jaboney, Marve & now Morris. We haven't had any prime time Dt's, in over 10 years and our LB's ain't much better. Now tack on a puss defensive coordinator and his prevent defensive schemes and what do you have? Stop recruiting the dam supposed jewels of your camps, grow some dam balls and don't be afraid to recruit the big dogs. Watch Bama play DeNo and U too AL or better yet, beg Saban to allow you to come down and watch how defense is played and this is not the best defensive team Bama has had, and maybe learn something that can help U scheme a game against a bunch of nobodies because that's what's in the ACC, minus FSU & Clemson, no football playing nobodies. Just imagine how bad it would be if we played against Manzel, he'd have 500yds of total O against us himself. Go get me 2 dam DT's that can F ing play some road grading football and add 2 LB's that are head hunters and our problems we'll be solved, I promise U Canespacers, that's all we need. With the veterans we had coming back on Defense, I could see us giving up 350 to 375 a game in total yardage because that's the talent we have but to get gutted, time and time again, is restinkingdiculous. I'll bet the opposing teams 3RD down conversions against us is 75%, this season. We have to be in the bottom o0f the barrel in that category.

dj moonbat

Yeah. I suspended my normal cynicism because of the Florida win, which in our rearview mirror isn't looking like much of a big deal, with Florida 4-5 after losing to mighty Vanderbilt. Oops.

At this point the only halfway legit win on Miami's record is Georgia Tech. Our 2.75 seasons of trusting the Tie should be showing better results than that.

Rand Stevens

We have wery little talent on DL. Period. They suck. OUr QB is a bonehead and brings the entire offense, especially his OL because of no pocket sense, down with him.

THat doesnt excuse last nights shyt show.

roachcane77

I think, (that after watching AG's post game interview), that he JUST doesn't get it.

He talks about the 2/3 turnovers being the BIG problem.

Other than the knee down "punt" turnover on our own 17 yd line, the "other" two ST fumbles were NOT deep in our own territory. YES, they were turnovers, but VT was allowed to march down the field and turn those into 14 points.

On some of the 3rd down plays we had no defenders even in the picture with their backs or receivers. That's 10-20 yards of OPEN SPACE… Ridiculous!

I can't believe he puts this on the players… THEY ARE NOT BEING TAUGHT, AND/OR PUT INTO THE PROPER POSITIONS!

Anyone on this blog could call the plays that would befuddle and exploit our D… It's no secret, it happens over and over and over...

Duke, Virginia, and Pitt will call those same plays and move down the field on us at will…

Rand Stevens

"Watching the post game interview last night AG looked beaten and lost."

I think Golden knows he needs to make major changes starting with the DC. He's not going to call him out in public.

The Dude

Exactly roachcane77, I'm sitting at home calling plays as VT is running them. Me. Embarassing. The beauty for OCs is that 3rd down is the gravy down. Just run a WR in front of that soft @ss cushion, wait til he clears the last LB and throw, guaranteed first down. 1st and 2nd down are just downs to call what ever you want. D'No is the worst coordinator in all of football. Al Golden is a fool for running this defense. Its beaten, you can't coach or team your way out of a failed system. He doesn't want to fire D'No because he can't blame the guy, after all he's just doing what he's told.

The Dude

I think the talent on the DL is fine. Its the scheme that sucks. Engage and shed looks like garbage. Instead, attack a gap and let the LBs clean up what's left over.

Account Deleted

we had net 28 yds rushing last night. With 35 yds coming on one play by crawford (who on his other 9 carries gained 2, yes only 2, yds). Complete OL and OC failure in a bad weather game. VT, 183 yds on the ground....

VT 8-14 on 3rd down...UM 3 for 12...

VT had 11 penalties....and still won easily.

mi@mic@ne

I grew up watching the Canes play the d. If you were a d end you only had one option... get around the edge and blow up the qb.. d line were to get into the gap and penetrate into the back field to disrupt the hand off. All game long our guys were not allowed to give an inch from side line to side line. Our corners on the line of scrimmage man on man ..they knew the interior of the d was gonna force the qb to throw quickly... we had the speed and athletes and everyone got to the ball.

CaneRock

POINT BLANK!, this loss is on STs, and the defensive players. 28 points was enough to win that game last night. Like D'Onofrio alluded to, HOWDAFUQ! do you NOT! cover your MAN!, in MAAAAAAN! coverage!

And I'ma keep it real, both those crossing routes that went for TDs, were on Gunter! Love the kid, but He needs to keep His head in the game.

CaneRock

^^^^^^^^^^And even if you got the coverages mixed up, how much talent do you need, to yell CROSSER! CROSSER! CROSSER!, to the next man over! SHEEZ!

Terrance Sullivan

Great points ^^^^^^^.

Been trying to find the words all day to describe the game I saw last night.

First off, props to Soup for being a world class host that brought his "A" game despite the weather & this football team doing its best to throw him off.

Reading through this morning's posts I saw a lot of the comments mirrored our conversation as we sat there imitating 2 drowned rats.

Logan Thomas has resurrected his Heisman campaign.

Doesn't Miami understand the definition of insanity?

We hate this come to the line, stop, backup for the play check and snap the ball a count after ass tap.

Holy crap there is no one around that receiver! again!

The coaching staff hasn't made the first adjustment. We are tipping off our plays.

Wonder if OGV has posted tonight?

I can't count the times we just turned to each other with this WTF look. Hell Laz had more focus pouring the Patron than the Hurricane sidelines.

Finally, as we made our way under the EEZ scoreboard to attempt one last time to find some small patch of semi-dry real estate came the comment of the night. But I'll have to let Soup tell that story.

You are mistaken about the DL. The problem is that regardless of whether the scheme calls for engage and shed, they engage, and stay engaged. They are neither particularly strong nor fast. They are not even an average DL.

Also, D'No's scheme is bad.

Since Coley is new, and tried to integrate Fisch stuff in his playbook for the purpose of easier transition, I won't denigrate Coley's scheme, except to say that if he has the same scheme NEXT season, he's too dim-witted to keep his job.

j.w.

24 hours later and I'm still astounded by what I saw. I can't add anything to what's already been said, just stunned that we could look so bad.

BEERicane

Let's bring OGV back (though we disagree, I really like that guy) to hear his praises about Coach L. No matter what happens on the football field, nothin will be a worse loss than what happened vs St Francis. I could use a good laugh about Coach L/The bball team right about now.

Montreal-Cane

Where is OGV when you need him...Duke has a better offense than VT and they play 2 QBS so DNO will go crazy...

Job Posting: football coaches and coordinators.

OK, so this is a true story, swear to God:

We moved our seats like 5-6 times during the game looking for anywhere to try to stay dry or find some luck. Those who have attended games with me know that whenever UM is not doing well I move my seat in search of some positive mojo. During this game needless to say we moved a LOT.

Near the end of the game in the early fourth quarter we finally moved to this little cubby hole underneath the East endzone scoreboard to try to stay dry and stay out of the cool wind.

When we got there there was a father with his two young sons. As we stood there watching the end of the debacle and still hoping for a miracle one of the young boys says this out loud about the UM offense to his father:

"Why do they just keep running the same plays?"

I look at KYCane and just laughed because I have been saying the same thing all game and calling the plays out loud most of the game.

I ask the youngster: "How old are U?"

He says: "Eleven".

I say: "U are wiser than your age."

We walked away shaking our heads as an innocent 11 year old boy (he looked maybe all of 9?) who clearly had not yet reached puberty or even kissed a girl in his life just called the UM offensive playbook.

Can U just imagine what opposing defesnive coordinators say when watching film?

SOUP

I have some more stories to tell about our West end zone adventure early in the third quarter but I am tired and will save that one for tomorrow. Trust me U will not believe that one either.

Cant wait to hear It. Somehow I am actually want us to play in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando on December 28th. I could use hanging in O-Town for a couple of days and Soup my man U deserve a game where U dont even have to leave home to see our Canes!

SOUP

Terrance...I'm down with that. If they play in Miami, Orlando or Tampa I'll still go. If not, count me out.

Jedd Fisch please come back after you get fired from the Jags...Play calling is so predictable. We also need a very good QB coach for the Young men coming up...

Central’s Dalvin Cook (136 yards) and Joseph Yearby (177 yards) led a running attack that totaled 317 yards against University.
