Funny we wanna point out Highsmith in the UVA game, but we don't point out that Curtis Porter had to cover a SCAT-BACK on UVA's game winning TD!..THAT'S COACHING! And while I think Jenkins will be a good S here, He's PHUCKEDUP! waaaaaaay more than Highsmith in the last 2 games.
PS: Put the "sucks" label on some of the DUMASSES! that squandered and opportunity, and got kicked outta here, NOT! on a kid who's about to walk outta UM with 2 degrees!

Newsflash: Winston's attorney's claims the sex act that occurred between his client and the unnamed woman wasn't rape but a quarterback sneak.
Timothy Jansen, Winston’s attorney, says his client voluntarily gave a DNA sample last week but that a match does not mean his client raped the woman.
He told reporters any sex was consensual before somewhat backtracking when pressed about his comment.

Steven Morris, played by Gibson in some against type casting.
Mike London is the Ayatollah of rock-n-rolla in some more of the same.
And I'm played by Bruce Spence.
The tanker represents that elusive 10 win season for UM.

As much as I don't like to compare FSU to us, I'd like to compare their record the last 4 years leading up to this year, in which they'll most likely be in the National Championship.
Jimbo Fisher took over mid-season in 2010. He was given a program that was not struggling with bad recruiting by a former coach, they were also not under the NCAA microscope with the world telling recruits they wouldn't have a football team soon.
2010: 9-3
2011: 8-4
2012: 10-2
2013: Most likely 12-0
Al Golden took over also in 2010, but was post-season in December. He came into an off-season where we blew it in our bowl game, we had 2 (TWO!) committed recruits a little over a month from NSD. We were also under the NCAA microscope for the next 2.5 years.
2010: 7-5
2011: 6-6
2012: 7-5
2013: Most likely 9-3
My point? We're not that far behind, and we are improving, no matter how much U want us to fire the whole staff and start over. Bright days are ahead, and yes, I believe with Golden at the helm.
Want D'No fired? Fine. Promote Barrow.

TSully...hold down the fort, the hotel, the tailgate and the stadium for the blog in my absence. U and Kenny are large and in charge this week for UVA. Bring home the "W" brutha! LOL
Posted by: SOUP | November 22, 2013 at 03:56 PM
Ohio...U know what I have started to believe? I believe that in fact Golden may have already decided that he wants to be here for a LONG time - like a 10-15 year run - and is going to take his time build it right for the LONG haul.
Sure he HAS to win even more next year and in year five produce an ACC title and BCS bowl game to get there but I think he can and will. Only time will tell?
I think his preference to playing Seniors more this year (maybe even when not completely warranted by performance) is part of that plan after they stuck around and gave their blood, sweat and tears to the program in spite of the NCAA cloud and self imposed bowl bans.
I think Golden feels he is buying good will from the players and positive Karma by doing so. I can't fault the man for taking that approach vs the win NOW approach. Plus a lot of the young guys are simply not quite ready for prime time anyway so why risk it?
Posted by: SOUP | November 22, 2013 at 04:02 PM
Soup, I sure hope you are right. My dark side is afraid that has a bit too much wishful thinking. I'm especially concerned about D'No and Al's relationship with him.
I've heard all the arguments but in the end, our D talent isn't bottom tier and performance is. That is coaching---scheme/motivation/teaching execution/a mix of the above----but it is coaching. And D'No not getting it done. Time for a change.
I do think Golden is hunkering down for the long haul. I just hope it is with a different DC.
Posted by: Mountain Cane | November 22, 2013 at 05:16 PM
Ohio cane to further your point jimbo took over in 2010, but he was there since 2007 putting in his offense helping recruit the players he wanted. Don't tell me he wasn't picking the players over Bobby cause he was. So really take away his first year he has been building fsu now for 6 years.
Posted by: Pbcfrcane13 | November 22, 2013 at 05:28 PM
"Fire the whole staff and start over"?
NEVER! said that, I haven't even called for D'Onofrio's firing...YET!...hell, I've never ever called Him "D'No!
And that whole "Defense Wins Championships" is TRUE! So NO!, we're NOT! improving.
Posted by: CaneRock | November 22, 2013 at 05:36 PM
I've been saying it all year. Can we pleeeaase just beat Virginia?!!
Posted by: Clwtrdan | November 22, 2013 at 05:59 PM
Well we did our final walk through tonight....we did some fun drills, fumble recovery, a little 4 man stick, some exercises that get you loose....man we are ready. I feel very emotional, as this will be my swansong, my last game at this school. I think it is time for some new blood, I want to build something else somewhere else. I love my boys but I think it is time. I have built 2 strong teams here, so why not try for 3?
We are going to win, I have never felt it this strong in my life. The pieces are all in place, and we are just that good; nobody, not even an all star team could beat us. Supposed to be windy, wet but not too cold. S#*t!!!! I love hitting people in cold weather. This is a big one guys!!!

Posted by: Mountain Cane | November 22, 2013 at 05:16 PM
1. Do NOT be. Each coach is evaluated after each season and there are no BFFs when it comes to WINNING.
2. I think Golden will be here L/T and only RESULTS will answer the second part of your question.

I LOVE CANES FOOTBALL! The program has been thru some ups and downs but at the end of the day I am thankful that I have the opportunity to watch them play. When the seasons over and Winter sets in all I can think about is the void I feel when its over. The excitement of signing day, spring ball and waiting for the season to start is worth the wait. I am very excited to know we are going bowling this year! The last couple of years was rough knowing that everyone else was going bowling except the Canes made it tough. I am and will always be Cane for life!!!!! Go Canes!

His team is down 30-0 and Canes recruit BRANDON POWELL still running and fighting 100 mph. Like this kid. 2 way player. Tough.

More I watch Canes recruit BRANDON POWELL more I like him as a corner. Physical, relentless. Scout said he reminds him of Greg Reid.

USC continued to attract blue-chip prospects while enduring a two-year bowl ban, placing eighth in the first year of its three-year scholarship reduction. Ohio State ranked fourth despite getting hit with a one-year bowl ban, and Miami finished ninth despite an ongoing investigation and the looming possibility of sanctions.
"With the big brand-name schools, [sanctions] certainly can make a kid pause, but I don't think it will drive them away," said Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell.

Almost hate that its gonna be on TV, we play at 12 about a half hour from home. Game done at 1:30 home by 2 might have to catch some of this dumpster fire with lots of tires in the bin play football. We might have a chance to win this one, still its so painful to watch this attack on offense and defense.....I cannot stand watching people totally incapable of blocking and tackling and the other fundamentals.
I know we win today, and at least part of my day will be watching a fundamental driven, controlled rage, well oiled machine take their opponent apart. My kids know a few of theirs....their guys have sent some smart ass texts. For a finale, one of my parents has hooked up a pa system, and we will take the field by storm....entering on a song by the great MC5 called "Black to Comm"...its loud and wild...so look out Patriots, a gang of rhythm killers is coming for you!!!! We will bring home that title for CS!!!!! Go Canes!!!!

SOOOO gld BTW whopped up on U School. Chad Thomas sacked Sean White (Auburn commit) at least twice and then threw up the U. Also, It is obvious why the staff didn't offer Q. Wilson, the kid is garbage. Got beat deep and got his ankles broke in the open field by Lamar Parker. BTW, I think in a couple tears people will be saying Parker is a kid Miami let slip away..he will make plays at WVU. Also, Walton is a stud!! Same Bruce for U School is going to be a top WR in 2016 no doubt. I saw D Jackson run down Sean White in the open field from behind, and White is a good runner. Not sure if any of our current DE's can do that lol

GATSBY THE CANE WALK IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF STADIUM AND IS I THINK 2 HOURS BEFORE KICKOFF
Posted by: canezilla | November 23, 2013 at 09:22 AM
Also..Walton made a great catch..going to to get it and adjusting to the ball..Normally dont see that from a RB....Treon Harris might not succeed in Miami's offense, but in the right offense he will be a very good college QB.

Good Morning Spacers…..it's a gorgeous day in central florida today…..too nice to stay indoors and watch football. Get out and enjoy a great day outside….. I myself will be teeing off at 12:12. Just around the same time our defense gives up a 50+ yard play :-)

Same here Raize, we ought to be starting the SB just about that time. I love the Canes, and will tape what I miss, but its beyond important anymore; it is not essential to my being.
"Suffering was the only thing, made me feel I was alive, thought that's just how much it cost to survive in this world".
Carly Simon, Haven't Got Time For The Pain
That's a good summation, its painful to see horrible execution of fundamentals by a team you love. I imagine turnout will be small. Its in 40s here, windy and cold, no rain. Perfect weather to win a SB in, perfect weather to hear your opponent getting drilled, Tatumized.......this is the end, my only friend the end...Apocalypse Now football is up!!!!! Got to run will advise results. Go Canes!!!!!!!!!!
