Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know that Miami lost in humiliating fashion to Florida State in Tallahassee on Saturday night by the score of 41-14.
The Hurricanes hung tough for the first half but were overwhelmed by FSU in the third quarter and eventually went down swinging in the fourth.
We were there in Tallahassee long before, then during and even after the game and witnessed it in person after traveling so many hours and long distances just to be there.
But even if UM had to lose to FSU at least Hurricane fans could enjoy a pleasantly cool and nearly perfect weather day in the State Capitol while tailgating up a storm. And oh, what a storm it was.
If you have never been to a game between Miami and Florida State let me just tell you that a party is sure to break out. But when you do it Canespace style well that party can reach all kind of new heights.
So with the regular crew of TSully, NativeCane and Old Skool we set out to take over the best spot in Tallahassee for viewing the local attractions and tearing up some delicious tailgate food.
NativeCane brought four slabs of ribs from some secret smokehouse somewhere in the back-country that apparently only he knows about. Let me tell you that these delicious, mouth-watering, fall off the bone ribs became the hit of the tailgate. Just ask the girls above who chowed down at his invitation.
Once outside we set up across from the Civic Center parking lot where most UM fans sought refuge. And to our surprise we were treated to a parade of beauty and scenery that was unparalleled in Canespace tailgating history.
We handed out free ribs and beer to UM fans and even some lucky FSU folks while licking our fingers as we watched the talent walk on by.
Once we walked to the stadium through the drunk students and their taunting we thought that at least things would calm down until kickoff.
Well, at least we had thought, until of course NativeCane went and did this.
Then we went inside Doak Campbell Stadium to get our beatdown before retreating back to our cars for safety, to re-hydrate sufficiently and then to endure the long ride back to our hotel in Lake City.
But it was all well worth it and we will do it all again in two more years.
U can bet on it!

Ribs looked good, better than the on field action in the 2nd half.
Rum roast was not bad either.
Lot of good vibes on here today, whatever we do re changing things up, we must focus. I really can see us in up close in the face man all day vs VT. no way can they beat us with our cover guys. We just need to get up in some face get aggressive both sides of the ball. Yea, I think some guys backed down a little, got scared. Got to get that evil welling up in your heart, punish people.

Cocane... Finally someone else sees what I see. I whole heartedly agree. And esp the point about even with the top recruits it will not be domination bc to dominate u need to play behind the Los. Once we get the recruits we can be good but not dominant. Dnos d if working well is good to hold teams to 20 or less but it will be tough to pitch shut outs and keep teams in single digits with his philosophy
Posted by: jsy | November 05, 2013 at 07:56 PM
I got your back jsy.
Football is about match ups. Put a 6'2 Gunter on Benjamin & Howard on Green man to man. Now you can really get creative on covering everything else. This is just an example. Nothing is easier than 3rd & 5 with your LB's & DB's all with 10 yard cushions.
I ain't mad at No'd anymore. This is Golden's defensive philosophy. He has said since day 1 he runs a soft zone defense. He will not change it. He believes this scheme will dominate when he stocks top notch South Florida talent in it. I am here to warn you. Even with the #1 recruit at every position this scheme will not dominate. It lacks aggression & the ability to adjust to a players skill set. The 2 main ingredients a system needs to dominate. Limited man coverages & the lack of a wide variety of blitzes is because there ain't much in the fukkin playbook. It's a SOFT ZONE. All of you that keep saying the defense will get more aggressive with better talent & pass rush, you are delusional. GOLDEN RUNS A SOFT ZONE. I don't care how good your pass rush is, 3rd & 5 will get picked up with 10 yard cushions 90% of the time. Every week our defensive rankings drop. Watch it continue...
Fukk giving Coley a pass. This offense only lost Mike James. He wasn't even the best RB! The offense is obviously worse than last year. WARNING: If the offense got worse after returning 11 starters, next year will be a rude awakening...

Excellent posting today gang, just got to read the previous blog and so many valid points were put forth. No matter if the discussion is man to man vs zone, talent, coaching or offense, the true passion for the U by fans on this site cannot be denied.
So now my 2 cents worth, IMHO it's been the offensive side of the ball that's underperformed this year. For all the firepower we have, the O has been very inconsistent. Not to say there hasn't been some good play, but just not what I guess I expected from the experience & talent on that side of the ball. Sure the long ball is great, the drive to end the UNC game warmed this old offensive lineman's heart, but we have sputtered and stalled just as often.
The D has shown improvement but has still been on the field way too long from not only its own inability to stop the opponent on 3rd down, but the O's failure to sustain drives. At least U-Tough has given the D a chance to hold on for these extended periods of time without being totally gassed.
T Sully, you still have that ticket for this weekend?

I have been to both and both are GREAT.
I have been to The Doak four times now and I would have to give it a slight edge. This year was the BEST atmosphere I have ever seen in Tally because FSU is so highly ranked and they are thinking BCS title. Those fans were LOUD and PUMPED!
It reminded me of the OB.
Just the stadium was worth 7 points EASY.
Plus the ladies at FSU are off the chain!

Always good to see people on the blobs know better than the people that coach for a living. There is a reason they are PROFESSIONAL coaches. We are good, just not great...yet. Trust Golden, trust the process.

JG no one on here claims to know more than the coaches. Many folks have knowledge and they are sharing it. Anyone with an iota of a football IQ knows the defensive philosophy is not one for dominance or physical play. Many of us spend mucho money supporting athletics at the U and we have a right to express our opinions in a manner which leads to some very good discussions.

We had to tie Old Skool up and throw him in the back of the SUV or he was going to the big house. Terrance is a babe magnet (he can't help it) and Native is just as smooth as silk but Skool, well, he needed a drool cup.

I don't think D'No will ever be great, which is a little odd to me. He looks like a DC, talks like a DC. He seems smart. He seems like a hard worker. I just can't understand why he can't stop offenses, ever. Also saying the safeties were in zone for the INTs is a little misleading because that's what safeties do 90% of the time. Plus we aren't talking about turnovers but the consistancy of 3rd downs being converted on the Canes. Even if you don't have talent, look at what Bama's D can do before the snap. Its almost NFL level thinking they do presnap. Its really impressive for a college team. You don't need talent to play smart.
Posted by: The Dude | November 06, 2013 at 12:24 AM
All those whining about the defense. My point is for our supposed high powered offense cant score more than 20 points on the good teams we wont get where we want to be either as well. If the defense can hold teams to around 20 points a game that works. The offense should be able to produce at least 28 points a game but hey lets give Coley a pass hahaha. Pure comedy.

Coming home Nov 25th
Did you guys see the latest on "Bully Gate"?
So Omar Kelly is saying Philbin called a Code Red. LT Caffey is going to come in here and blow the lid off this thing. The old man is crazy, Jessup is going down. Bye Bye Ireland and Philbin. Soon The Phins can hire Schiano to come in and clean things up:)
Posted by: Hassan | November 06, 2013 at 09:23 AM
Did u guys see rolles comments about the incognito Martin situation where he thinks both sides are at fault. I personally think based on reports that it was Ritchie's fault bc he crossed the line with racial slurs and threatened physical harm and money extortion. Football isn't about race and the only color that matters is the color of your team so why even go to race. My concern is when cooper said what he said so many ppl were upset at him and coopers comments were directed at a concert security guard, richie drops racial slurs and threatens physical harm extorts monry so how can anyone put any blame on Martin? 2 penny for your thoughts..
