The 1980's rock group Styx had it right. It is possible that Miami head coach Al Golden has pulled the "Grand Illusion" over Miami Hurricane fans.
He talked a good game. He sounded like he knew what he was doing. But last night he failed. Miami had the chance to win the ACC Coastal division against Duke after Maryland surprisingly beat Virginia Tech.
Yet still the Hurricanes played poorly, unispired and eventually lost, as they were outcoached and outplayed, and lost in embrassing fashion to an unranked team once again in Durham, NC.
So the question is: Who is smiling now? Golden told us that we should just trust "The Process" and it would work. The problem is that the process MAY in fact be the problem.
The only question left is: "What happens next?"

From Eric Winston
Hope Golden takes a hard look at his best friend and DC. This isn't a talent thing. The scheme is brutal. No imagination on his part. Bad!

I hate to bad mouth any one on our team, coach or player, hence I will always hold off until it's certain. I said 3weeks ago, DNo and some other D coach can't coach!
Posted by: CalgaryCane | November 16, 2013 at 08:09 PM
Losing to Duke are you Fing kidding me,Duke !! I take this as a personal insult as the whole team should !!
Posted by: Sebas13 | November 16, 2013 at 08:06 PM
Amen....If a chance to capture the division falls right in your lap and you can't get up for that???

I have better ways to spend my money and my time. Like CaneSteeler I am canceling my season tickets and my Hurricane Club membership. I am done.

Strangely, this loss isn't hurting me nearly as badly as I would've thought. It's just, you know. . .how things are nowadays. We stink. I forgot it for a while, because we were winning, and there was no reason to confront the stench unnecessarily, but it was always there.
I know that the urge is strong to make somebody PAY for this. But the really crappy thing is that unless the person brought in to fix things was a superstar, we'd blow the recruiting class to hell, and make things EVEN WORSE for a year or two. And we know UM's not going to pay for a superstar.
So I think I may need to hang one of those car-mirror air freshener trees near my TV, 'cause the stink is not going away soon.

QB Morris is TRASH. But he is gone.
DNo is worse than that. If he comes back next year I will pay for people NOT to go to games.
SERIOUSLY.

You will feel better doing that. I adopted that several years ago. Cornbread is on fire.
dj, I think AG can still be a good coach, but he needs to make changes. and soon.
Posted by: CGNC | November 16, 2013 at 08:15 PM
Moonbat...I don't even care about recruiting at this point. I am so done I don't even care.
This site will be closing in 3, 2, 1...

There have to be major, major changes, no doubt, Soup. When we went to the 4-3 and the DL was actually looking good I thought anyone with an IQ over 80 can see this is what we need. But then we revert back to the 3-4, it looks like we're telling our DL not to do anything other than stand in place and slap your opponent across the chest, and watch Dook do what they want. Just incredibly stupid not to get the hell out of the 3-4.
Posted by: j.w. | November 16, 2013 at 08:17 PM
I think its fair to say we've given AG a fair try, esp given the NCAA issues.
But the play of the D is not purely the result of lost talent. The scheme, coaching just doesn't work, and we're not getting any better. We are an embarrassment.
No'd must go...now...and clean house of any others as well.
sorry SOUP, like last week you deserve a better effort for your support.
Posted by: Account Deleted | November 16, 2013 at 08:18 PM
I don't blame U SOUP. This is outright BS. The "process" is a joke. Golden is committed to failure. I'd fire him right now for Butch.

For what its worth, when SOUP started this blog - was it 2006? I know we all thought we would be consistent top ten material way before now. While that has not been the case, I want to thank Soup for having this blog and taking the time that he does with it. I have enjoyed and hope to continue to enjoy blogging with everyone here. Some of you I have even met. We need to stay together. We are all we've got LOL

I prayed. I hoped. I yelled. I cursed, I cried.
My wife almost left the house.
We did not win.
I am done.

"I am hurt dawg."
The only problem is that I feel as a fan that I am hurt more than the players on the team. That ain't right.
If players are not throwing helmets and fighting each other on the UM team right now then I have no hope for them. I would punch myself, slam my head, fight my neighbors, yell at my wife and burn down a well U know for a chance at the ACC title.
Is anyone on the UM team doing that right now? I doubt it.
And that is SAD.
Posted by: SOUP | November 16, 2013 at 08:30 PM
No excuse. Duke was the least talented team on the schedule outside of FAU and Savannah. Ridiculous. Manny Diaz and Bill Callahan were fired for less.

Soup, I know how you feel. All I ask is that you think this over, don't make any final decisions until after you've had a few weeks to forget about how brutal this has been. If you still feel the same way I'll understand and can't blame you, just make sure it's what you really want to do.

I'm going to ride with Al Golden till the end. Good or bad.
I love the Hurricanes with all my heart but this loss strangely doesn't hurt me as bad as I thought it would. Although I'm a young guy (only 26) I guess I don't take sports as bad as I used to. I used to let a loss ruin my day/night.
Personally, I just want the Shannon's gone. Highsmith, Rodgers, Porter, Cornelius, Armbrister, Morris etc. gone from the team. They flat out suck. No doubt about it. I do think Golden is the right guy still. Obviously changes will have to be made.
GO CANES!
