The 1980's rock group Styx had it right. It is possible that Miami head coach Al Golden has pulled the "Grand Illusion" over Miami Hurricane fans.
He talked a good game. He sounded like he knew what he was doing. But last night he failed. Miami had the chance to win the ACC Coastal division against Duke after Maryland surprisingly beat Virginia Tech.
Yet still the Hurricanes played poorly, unispired and eventually lost, as they were outcoached and outplayed, and lost in embrassing fashion to an unranked team once again in Durham, NC.
So the question is: Who is smiling now? Golden told us that we should just trust "The Process" and it would work. The problem is that the process MAY in fact be the problem.
The only question left is: "What happens next?"
Wow! Fantastic win by the Devils last night! Everything was clicking, the offense, the defense, the special teams, coaching, a dominant performance in all phases of the game! The veteran leadership by the guys with a combined age of 83 years old, . . . wait a minute, wrong blog. Excuse me, I haven't done anything like this since the end of September, so let me bide some time by quoting this;
"Posted by: Old Skool | November 17, 2013 at 08:15 AM"
Then having you watch this while I get my bearings ironed out, it's CGNC at the Canespace family dinner after Duke murdered Alverage Slogan's remaining supporters amongst his fanbase who aren't delusional shills for waiving orange and green pompoms, Old Skool is played by Elliot Gould;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyb6cRogx4I
So, now that everybody has accepted the ugly truth about the 'miracle in the MAC,' were do we go from here, and as a fan or as a theoretical Blake James for a month thought exercise? If you're a fan, I can suggest to you spending your dollar elsewhere for a while, it's not getting better at UM anytime soon, you'll be welcomed back in a few years anyway and no one will remember you drifted away understandably during this regimes' death throes. It's no fun cheering for this coaching staff and their single gameplan for every game, it's infuriating as a fan and it only works if the other team beats themselves with drops, penalties, or not kicking easy field goals, the exact opposite of what got Miami those five championships and all the other championship game losses over the last 30 years.
If you matriculated at UM, I suggest you continue to support the team, which is talented but poorly coached, but draw a line in the sand and spend your entertainment dollars elsewhere until there's a coaching change so you vote with your wallet for improvement that you deserve from this program. Supporting your school doesn't mean you have to support someone who is incapable of saying that Joe Paterno failed as a leader when he protected someone preying on children, or admit his coaching philosophy has never lead to a championship and never will. Those two failures are directly linked in a deficient mind, both tactically and morally, why associate yourself with that sickness of thought?
If you're playing Blake James for a month, Alverage Slogan gets one more year to coach with his players in order to prove he can make dinner with the ingredients he brings home. Then it's time to say goodbye when he chokes again, and again like he has every year as a head coach for the last eight years now. If you want to toss around names for replacements, it's useless at this point, because the two Penn State roommates are one and the same defensively so firing one doesn't deal with the problem as Alverage Slogan will still be telling the new hire to run the same soft scheme game day plan all next year as well. If Blake grows a set and wants to make a significant move that only a five game losing streak would provide him enough potential cover to try, I like what Dave Clawson and his staff have done, Curtis Johnson would be fantastic too this year or next. UM has money, don't believe their poverty plea, they just lack the will power to fix the worst AD in school's history biggest mistake in school history.
Finally, Tom, you pay your own way to support the athletic department and what makes your blog great when it's at its best is diversity, just like what makes America great is minority representation in government, even if they aren't allowed to set policy. Don't let some corporate shill remove that from here anymore than you let some football coach make you stop supporting the school that means so much to you, even if they have a twitter feed in a the colors orange and green.
(Duke! Blown out by Duke! C- hire was being way too generous, more like D at the most.)

As long as the CEO doesn't pull the plug ...
Hopefully, he'll turn to some of the posts about optimism from earlier in the season and decides to keep this thing going.
Players and coaches may come and go, but fans stay forever. And so should this blog.

Stayed away long enough today to see if No'D got fired. Appears not......
Lets face it, the D has been exposed. We're down to 66th ranking, and with 2 games left we can probably end up near 90 or so. Same sad story as last year.
The AG presser was more of the same tag lines. I do believe he's out of answers. what you see is what we've got.
So how much is VA favored by??

Olivier Vernon this how you play defense!
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | November 17, 2013 at 06:45 PM
Say what you want about Coyle from the Dolphins but he has the balls to call plays that pressure on the QB and his DBs. 7-8 in the box on every play.
Talk about talent and skills but when you know something isn't working how long can you keep looking your players in the eye before they feel defeated!
Just saying.
Wake up noD

Even at the end Coyle had pressure the whole time coming. I rather lose that way than get beat in a soft zone all day like my master was whipping me

I seriously doubt that this is Als defense. Maybe his play book but not his defense. I think he is letting NOD run the show on that side of the ball.

anyone that can do this with Virgin a defense can coach.

Soup .... I just want to say you know how long I have been a fan of the "U" all the way back to Frank Smith in football and Rick Barry in basketball and all the teams since. I had favorite players like Nick Ryder and Don Cornutt, Chuck Forman and many more. But it was you that showed me how to be a real fan.
I am recovering from my seventh surgery in 4 years the last was 11-8-2013 left coratid artery I am stil in pain but refuse to take Pain meds. The loss to Duke far seceeded my surgical pain.
I will support you in whatever direction you choose to go 100%
