Now we got witches up in here? Where dey at?

I was just messing with Go Canes because he said call him those things so I did. It was joke so lighten up Francis!

Go Canes is cool with me. I even wished him a Happy New Year. Did U miss that part?

Again, everyone needs to realize that this year's Hurricane squad had the weakest talent level of any Miami team since the tenure of Butch Davis. Coaching aside, we were not able to recruit at a level that replenished outgoing talent over the last three years. 2014 is the first time that we will see a reversal of that trend, as long as the class stays intact. And in 2015 there should be a big jump upward as well.

Ohio_Cane

All last year, you were predicting a top 5 recruiting class, but I ask you to guess how many points we would've scored against a REAL TEAM...and you can't do that for me?! "Are YOU being serious right now"?

Posted by: CaneRock | December 31, 2013 at 01:20 PM
--------------------------------------

Are U actually likening recruiting to actual games played on the field? Recruiting is a speculative game. Football has already been played on the field. There's no guessing needed. The whole world knows how many points we scored on every team.

Wanna use Clemson? Sure. We would've scored 34 on Clemson. Why? Because only Citadel score less than 10 on their D. NC State scored 14 on them for crying out loud.

So, lets remove Savannah State, add Clemson onto our schedule and we ended up with 388 total points versus 2012's total of 377.

See? We improved.

Im with you, but have a feeling I already know the replies this will get. Call it a hunch.

1. NCAA ordeal is over and it doesn't really affect us going forward
2. See #1
3. This reasoning has already been used. Since it was used in another blog, you cant use it twice in the same year, especially during a leap year.

Shouldn't we hold golden accountable for being shown up and embarrassed in big games over and over again.

Posted by: jsy | December 31, 2013 at 01:10 PM

The last time Miami beat a team that finished the season in the AP rankings appears to have been 2009 (the team was GT). That also looks like the last time Miami finished in the AP rankings (#19).

http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/year/2009

Fortunately, we have moved on to a New Era of Miami football. We don't worry about Big Games anymore, 'cause we might even lose the small ones.

Go Canes

Absolutely Tony.

WOOOOOOOOW! So we score 11 more points, huh.

I agree with you 100%. I actually really think that in this imaginary game, the scoring system is different. We actually get negative points and not 11 points. I think we get beat by Bama by 34 total points. They score 31 and we get -3 (fake field goal taken back for 3 imaginary points)

dj moonbat

Oh, and everybody should go back and look at the 2009 schedule, and try to explain to themselves how this year's 9-4 squad is actually better than that year's 9-4 squad, which opened with four (!!) consecutive games against ranked opponents, winning 3.

But the Tie! Trust the Tie!

FYI and just because it was real easy to look up. Bruce Feldman linked Golden to Penn St.

j.w.

RCCF- if you're going to quote Luke, don't forget to include all of his tweets stating he wants Erickson back as coach. Yes, that Erickson, the one who sent all of his players to Luke for discipline. I like and respect Uncle Luke for what he does for kids, but it's hard to take him seriously when he conveniently forgets that Randy Shannon's regime was WORSE than what we have now. And he forgets that Shannon's staff had so little respect for him (Shannon) that they ignored everything he said and went directly to Shapiro against his express orders to avoid him. Bottom line: Luke is a fan, sees things in only one light, is right sometimes, and absolutely wrong other times.

Not until I see how badly we've been hurt with the recruits.

raizecane

The blog has officially blown up.....

j.w.

About the talent issue: The real question to me is, are we putting these kids in the best position to succeed? Belichek made Julian Edelman a 1,000 yard receiver and 100 catch guy, and don't even try telling me he has the talent of Demarius Thomas. How is this possible? Obviously Brady helps, but it isn't like New England abandoned the passing game just because they had unproven or unknown receivers. Instead, they match Edelman against DB's and LB's who can't cover him, implement a scheme that works for pretty much everyone they throw in at WR (Aaron Dobson is another guy nobody has ever heard of that produces)etc.
We just don't do this. Instead, we have Gaines play MLB where he can't avoid a damned pulling guard to save his life rather than keep him outside where he actually is decent at tackling people in space. We run counter treys and stretch plays with Crawford despite the fact that he excels at quick bursts up the gut with no more than one cut. We have McCord and Cornelius drop into coverage more often than not, despite the fact that both are really good at pass rushing and just don't have the speed to do much else. We could go on and on, but the point is we're not maximizing our players' skills.

4-Real

30CINCO, it doesn't matter what Feldman says. What matters is what Penn St is saying, and SO FAR they ain't said crap about Golden! True or false? Give it up dude & have a happy New Year!

Who's name has Penn St put out? Anyone? School themselves dont put out names, its always the analyst.

The Good Old Days Are Gone

No One EVER made note of the poor treatment that Randy received with all this inside info U guys have...No One ONCE said Randy was flying commercial and renting cars to make trips as opposed to the red carpet Al Golden is being given...and Randy is 100% Hurricane and U all spat on the man like he is the reason we did bad...smh I have had my Randy rant before but after reading this I am PISSED!!RCCF

Posted by: RCCF | December 31, 2013 at 12:31 PM

I second that

4-Real

Sources close to Penn St are naming Schiano, nothing bout Golden. Texas short list of candidates? Jimbo, Franklin from Vandy, guy from Baylor & Charles Strong. Again, no golden.

The Good Old Days Are Gone

Schiano's reputation is tarnished so I don't think that would be a smart hire for PSU. Penn State has to at least interview Golden.

The Good Old Days Are Gone

Texas needs someone who is proven and who has won a BCS title in the last few years. They should be going after Les Miles.

4-Real

Opinions don't matter. Schiano is the favorite 4 the Penn job.

Gotcha! So those Penn St. sources which you have no idea who they are are ok, but Bruce Feldman is not? LMAO! Now I get your question. You should re-word it, "Which random sources have linked Golden to any coaching jobs? None? You see, he does suck"

And by your logic, Bill Belichick, Don Shula, Steve Walsh all suck! none of their names were mentioned either. Freakin losers!

LMAO again though...

Going into Week 1 of this season, we had the following on our roster:

5 Star Players: 3
4 Star Players: 20
3 Star Players: 41
2 Star Players: 6

Barring any early departures, we will be replacing the following players:

5 Star Players: 1
4 Star Players: 4
3 Star Players: 9
2 Star Players: 3

That will leave us with the following for our squad:

5 Star Players: 2
4 Star Players: 16
3 Star Players: 32
2 Star Playess: 3

The 2014 recruiting class thus far grades out as:

5 Star Players: 1
4 Star Players: 12
3 Star Players: 16

Unless we see Chad Thomas and 8 or more of the 4-star players depart, on paper this will be a more talented squad.

Again for everyone...putting issues with coaching aside. Looking at the "star" aspect of it.

The Good Old Days Are Gone

Opinions don't matter. Schiano is the favorite 4 the Penn job.

True

Terrance Sullivan

As far as Luke is concerned. I grew up on the guys music the whole Miami Bass sound that I may add still listen to till this day cant get down with this new Miami ish music thats out, that being said He on that ish when it comes to this crap so in 2006 when Donna ran Larry out of town where was his outrage the guy was only the head coach of a team that won the title in 2001, played for the title in 2002, won the conference for the 4th straight year(3rd straight in his tenure) won the Orange Bowl finished 11-2 and #5 in the country, Won the Chick Fil-A Peach Bowl in 2004, lost the Chick-Fil-A Peah Bowl in 2005 in embarrassing fashion, and won our last bowl game in Boise Idaho on December 31, 2006 had a 80% win percentage and was canned for his DC Randy Shannon and no words. As a black man when race is a issue it needs to be addressed but making everything a racial issue is assclownish. Luke Come On Man! SMH and like I said love the guy but he on that ish with this issue.

The Good Old Days Are Gone

Looks like Penn State's first choice is Schiano. I always thought that was Golden's job for the taking.

jsy

Tony cane look at the amount of stars that vt, duke, and Louisville have compared to um. Even look at how many stars ksu had when we played them. The point is while the stars aren't as many as we would like we still have more than the teams that blew us out

Go Canes

Schiano is an absolute lock if O'Brien goes in my opinion.

Terrance Sullivan

Randy Shannon who coached at Miami for 4 years from 2007-2010. His record his first 3 years from 2007-2009 was 21-17.
Al Golden deserves his 4 years as well,
Through Al Golden first 3 years 2011-2013 his record is 22-15. So its pretty even with Al having a slightly better record but now by much now lets see what happens in 2014. If Al goes 7-5 will he get canned since Randy didnt get to coach the bowl game. I love Randy but Luke and others act like Randy got a raw deal. Cut It Out. If Al doesnt get it done and he gets canned he wouldnt have gotten a raw deal either and it dont matter if he is white, blackm brown, yellow, blue or whatever mane these race baiters kill me on either side results matter that rest of that ish can kick rocks.

Here's anarticle from another guy that follwed Al Folden's time at Temple.

by Pete Fiutak

While coming up with any sort of success at Temple, much less turning one of the nation’s most miserable programs into a winner, is worthy of praise and respect, there’s one teeny, tiny issue here.

Al Golden didn’t actually win anything, and Miami wants a Point B to Point C guy.

Once Golden did the job of recruiting well, mostly by putting a fence around the greater Philadelphia metropolitan era, Temple got to the point where it wasn’t a doormat anymore. While that was great, as Buffalo, Central Michigan, Akron and, in a one-year turnaround, Miami (Ohio), proved, it was possible to go from being miserable to a MAC champion, and Golden didn’t finish the job.

Temple going from miserable to decent was a story in 2008, but in 2009, Golden had a team good enough to win the MAC title, or at least the East Division. With the chance to play for the championship, Temple lost at Ohio 35-17.

This year, Northern Illinois (speaking of not getting the job done) was the MAC’s best team, but Temple was the clear No. 2. The program, and Golden, failed late in the year, losing at home to Ohio when the running game and the run defense mysteriously went bye-bye in the sloppy conditions. That loss ended up costing the Owls the MAC East title; the puzzling, dead-team-walking, 23-3 loss to Miami ended up costing the 8-4 team a bowl invite.

Yeah, Golden’s Temple program recorded the largest academic turnaround in the Academic Progress Rate reform era, and yeah, Miami (Fla.) cares about the classroom with a fantastic APR under Randy Shannon. Last May, when the reports came out, Miami’s program was the only one in the BCS that finished in the top 10 percent academically and finished the 2009 season ranked in both the USA Today and Associated Press polls. Shannon really was getting it done both on and off the field, but he didn’t return the Hurricanes to football prominence, and for that he was fired.

So now Miami has two problems: 1) Golden hasn’t closed, going 7-12 at Temple in November and December and with no appearances in the MAC Championship Game, and 2) This isn’t the 1980s
Florida is the top dog in the Sunshine State, Florida State is reloading, South Florida is starting to become a factor, Central Florida won the Conference USA title, and even Florida International and Florida Atlantic will battle for some of the local Miami talent. Throw in the national powerhouses always coming in and picking off players, and the 'Canes’ expectations are unrealistic.

Does Miami want to go back to the Luther Campbell days? Is it looking for the days of being Da U, and all the negative connotations that came with that? Unless Golden can bring in NFL talent right away, and not just very good college players, Miami is going to be disappointed that it’s nowhere near the bright, shining superpower it used to be.

Golden is taking his talents to South Beach, but this will work only if he brings more big-time talents to Coral Gables.

Did he nail it or what?

RCCF

I understand where U guys are coming from as far as Randy stands and I do agree to some degree...I do raise questions about the lack of authority they allowed Randy to have and in deminishing his power from the powers that be the kids won't respect him either...I think Luke is speaking more to the politics of it as opposed the on field performance of it all...and to that I think he may be telling the truth...If Saban pulls up luxurious and Randy comes up next in a Ford Taurus how attractive is that to a recruit? or if Golden is flying first class why did Randy have to fly coach? and yes Randy did give 20yrs of service to daU and I don't believe he was treated fairly... The sad part is I think alot of U may know Randy got a raw deal but it's easy to blame him.. He was treated as 2nd class from day one.. His O-Coordinator turned on him and spoke bad of him...then ppl started yelling for his DCo job so he can focus on game management(defense hasn't been the same since might I add)... Randy was hosed and U Know It..

RCCF12%....Luke Ain't Lying!

Terrance you think Golden operating with thr longest and most sensationalized NCAA investigation in history hanging over his head his for three straight recruiting classes gets no additional time to rebuild this program?
