So, UM officials claim that the Swofford lobbying against UM report isn't true. But the people who reported it include a UM beat reporter, Duke's beat reporter, nd aa few bloggers who couldn't care less about the game. Something happened, can't wait to hear the final report.

SOUP

Swofford did not lobby AGAINST UM he lobbied FOR Duke. How many times is Duke going to have a season where they beat BOTH VT and UM? They deserve it.

My God, let it go people!

Terrance Sullivan

JW UM officials wont say that since Swofford stood with them against the NCAA.

303 Terrence, I've got a two hour drive one way on game day but I might get stupid and go in for a hotel room and go to the swamp that Walt drained to build a house for his mouse Friday and then the bowl game the next evening, maybe. Or I might save that money and go down to UM for a basketball game and New Year's day instead, it's up in the air right now.

Q, where are you getting this insane idea that Bridgewater and Louisville regressed this year? They have a better record and he had a better season statistically, that's the exact opposite of regression.

jcane

One of the knocks on Teddy B re: the NFL potential is that there isn't much to him (ie needs to bulk up). The obvious key would be to knock him around a bit/get in his head. I just have a hard time seeing this particular group being able to do this.

CaneRock

I'm all for Golden, but AFAIC, coaches that are gonna have to earn their paychecks next year:

#1! D'Onofrio
#2 Franklin
#3 Barrow
#4 Kehoe <<<<<< Forget which Canes Camp Report it was...BUT it's NOT a good look, when the TEs coach, is coaching up the OLmen.

1. The obvious key (with Bridgewater) would be to knock him around.

2. And get in his head.

2. OGV, U got this?

Yeah but is that before or after the twerking?

Terrance Sullivan

Soup I wonder how many tickets UM got from the Russell Athletic Bowl 7500, 10,000, or 12,500. That is the question because otherwise why would they have the limited $82 dollar tickets. Hmmmm

I know people here do NOT want to hear this but I will repeat what Go Canes said the other day here on the blog: The way MOST of the really influential people at and around the UM program see it, 2014 is really year ONE for Golden and crew. So no changes will occur until at least the end of 2015 (DC) and prolly not until 2017 (HC).But by then UM will have recruited MUCH better and should be winning a LOT more including beating FSU and winning the ACC and playing in BCS bowl games. So in reality NOBODY is going anywhere anytime soon.

New from Peter Ariz...

Before I get into each prospect specifically, Miami felt good about the outcome of this weekend. There are some fans who might be disappointed about the fact that there is no commit to show for the last three days, but besides Dixon previously planning to announce tonight, there was not expected to be any commitments. Results are not always immediate when it comes to recruiting.

Dalvin Cook
The lead-up to Cook’s official visit was highly anticipated and I’m told that he was “all smiles” this weekend. The past couple of years, there have been some top flight recruits who have visited Miami out of a courtesy to the staff, but that is not the case with Cook because he is sincerely considering the Canes. After this last week where both Coley and Golden gave in-homes to him and he visited, Miami feels like they have given him a lot to think about and this will be a tough decision for him. As his mother told me last week, Miami getting the last shot at him does give them an advantage. Other than that, his camp is staying quiet. He will announce next weekend so I expect to hear more throughout the week.

Johnnie Dixon
This is your classic case of nobody really knowing where a kid is going until he announces himself. There have been people saying Alabama, Miami, and Ohio State with him the last couple weeks and him pushing his decision back adds another layer into the scenario. Miami felt good leading up to this visit, but him pushing back would lead you to believe that his pick was not going to be Miami. Another source told me that Dixon not announcing tonight was a very good sign for the Canes. There has also been more talk about Ohio State than Alabama recently. Like with Cook, we will continue to hear more throughout this week. I don’t think Dixon will be doing much talking though, because his team plays in the state final this weekend.

Travis Rudolph
Rudolph’s visit went unreported until this morning, which is interesting for a local, high profile prospect. Miami has kept tabs on him for months and it seems like the coaches are going to make one final push to see how interested he is. Not only does his father want him at Miami, but his mother wants him here as well. James Coley in-homed with him after the visit. It would be a tough pull, but this weekend basically kept Miami in the conversation for him.

**I posted earlier this week that one of Ermon Lane’s coaches told me he believed Lane would decommit from Florida in January and that whoever landed Dalvin Cook would also have a great shot at Lane. Another person told me the same thing again today and Miami is aware that the two would love to play with each other. Lane is not an early enrollee, so this will give him time for Miami coaches to continue to recruit him over the next two months.

**Keep an eye on Brandon Powell. Although he’s solid right now, I don’t know how he would react if Cook committed. Powell has told me in the past that he is open to playing corner at Miami (which is probably his big money position), but there is also some talk that he prefers playing on the offensive side of the ball. He has visited both West Virginia and Tennessee recently.

No offense but playing in a third tier bowl aint the big time. i mean I would of felt better if we would have least landed in a New Years Eve bowl or later date but playing on December 28th aint returning to the big time Its well at least we are bowling again and that in itself is something to appreciate and enjoy. Go Canes!

WWIN

We will beat Lil Miami by double digits!!!

Vault it!

Question for u guys lets say teddy had come to the u would we have finished better than 9-3

Posted by: jsy | December 08, 2013 at 10:54 PM

If defense is the same, probably not, I think Stephen did all he could, injuries are hard to overcome, I think the offense was great. Defense lost two games. (FSU was a mix of both)

Panamacitycane

Im thinking of getting tickets and driving down from Tally to Orlando. Will there be a post about tail gaiting plans? I've never met any of you, would of been nice at the FSU game but my friends decided to take their sweet time getting to TALLY and we got to our tail gate late.

Saliva Breath

The ACC reportedly f'ed us over with the Chick Fil A bowl. Now we play Louisville. And we get to open ACC play with Louisville next year. Makes me almost miss the bad old days of bowl bans. As for basketball, I assume that I made the right choice in missing that game? Sad part is this is Larrinaga's third year and this is his team.

Are u serious in ur comment about Coach L?

Do you follow this team?

So strap it up tight and hunker down Canes fans!

Al golden staying after the Yahoo story dropped saved another decade of rebuild time. Dont believe it? Then u continue to underestimate the complete and utter clusterfark of a mess he inherited.

2014 as year one? Not surprised comsidering that Golden has rewarded players who shouldnt even be on the field lots of playing time for staying the course. Shannons kids are gone after this bowl game....the ones that stayed deserved their chance to play.

The Dude

Man, all this offense on officials. Where's the safeties? Where's the defense.
