SinisterCane

Sorry CANEZ FANS

We're not winning anything major with AL at the Helm, without the NCAA cloud over our heads he seems to be a good recruiter but who in the holy hell is going to devolve the defensive talent being brought in? This defensive crap scheme has been in place for 3 years now and I've seen more regression then progression from the defensive players. THE LACK OF TALENT EXCUSE WENT OUT OF THE F@@KIN' WINDOW WHEN WE LOST TO DUKE. Funny thing is AL was a TE in college and never played DEFENSE in College and has the nerve to blame the player and not his SH!T scheme. I could find more use of morning spit shot into a bucket of hot piss then AL's defensive philosophy

UMike

Ohio..I cant think of any JUCO LB's on the radar right now. DT Cory Johnson is out, but we still have a shot a Pelon I guess. Wyche is a 4-Star JUCO according to 247, so that will help. There was 1 JUCO LB earlier in the season that was talked about, Antonio Smothers, but he committed to Arizona.

SinisterCane

DEFENSE

I wanted to see what it felt like to type the word :(

Ohio_Cane

Oh, and I DO NOT expect Perryman to leave this year.

UMike

I do..hes got a kid now, the defense is bad and he could be a decently high pick. JMO of course.

dj moonbat

Dj if Auburn wins the title 45-41 do you think they'll be happy?

I have no idea how this relates to what I was saying.

I was saying that given the team we have, drawing L-ville as an opponent sounds "better" than drawing, say, Texas A&M or somebody else who's been tested by serious competition.

Auburn fans can feel completely justified in rooting for their team to end up playing the toughest teams out there -- because they've ALREADY BEATEN the toughest team out there, and they're working their way down the list. Whether they win 45-41 or 17-14 or 3-0 doesn't really matter; the point is, Auburn fans have no reason to FEAR anybody.

Miami fans, on the other hand, can go into their bowl game with plenty of bravado (hey, why not?), but it's a simple fact that if they do that, there are quite a few teams out there that would provide us a very rude awakening if we do. (Think the LSU curb-stomping in the Peach Bowl, maybe.)

If we want to wake up the next morning and have some good feelings to go along with our hangovers, we have to play somebody that's not very good. That's kind of sad for a team with UM's pedigree, if you ask me. Well, really sad, actually.

SinisterCane

What does Perryman gain for returning for Senior year, becoming a better FS/SS?

30CINCO

It's funny how people want coordinators fired every year if their team does not perform as they expect. Then these same folks want all the top talent to go to the same team that always fires said coach? How does that work? How did that work out for us when coordinators were being changed left and right under Shannon?

UpNorthCane27

Guys Perryman's girlfriend comes from a wealthy area in Rhode Island. How do I know? Well I'm from Rhode Island and know the area her parents are from. I'm
sure they'll have the support of the family if Perryman indeed wants to finish his senior year earn his degree and ball out in order to get drafted higher.

UpNorthCane27

So I'm with Ohio I believe Perryman stays and anchors this defense next year.

Shannon didn't lose to Duke

30CINCO

How many All ACC first or second teamers did we have in 2011? 3, all on offense

How many All ACC first or second teamers did we have in 2012? 1, Duke on offense and ST

How many All ACC first or second teamers did we have in 2013? 5, one of them on defense

Where are all these all americans we have on this team that are not being coached properly?

Based on this, I can clearly see progress, dont you?

Didnt Shannon lose to USF? Why is it possible for USF to be good one year, but not Duke? Isnt Duke in a better conf than USF?

Miami as had 2 of the worst defensive years in school HISTORY the last couple years and dead last in the ACC this year. Yea, a league with Duke, UVA, WF, Maryland etc... we finished last lol... that is why a change should be made at that spot. Has nothing to do with MY expectations, that is just horrible according to anyone's expectations lol

30CINCO

Dont get me wrong, I dont blame Shannon at all! I don't think his people skills were the greatest, trusted the wrong people and didnt trust everyone else. He is a Cane and I appreciate the hell out of him. He was just not ready to be THE MAN.

Go Canes

Shannon didn't lose to Duke but his ineptitude, lack of leadership and inability to comminicate with just about anyone started this disaster.

So that statement is just about the most ridiculous thing anyone can put on here.

He left this program in shambles even before Shapiro broke.

5 commits going into our last game.

Five!

And the most of the rest of this team was out of shape, stoned and lazy.

And while he didn't lose to Duke he lost many more games that we're more embarrassing and under no adverse conditions.

Let the man recruit without our hands tied behind our back! Let the man coach up the kids he recruited. Let us get some quality depth...

Didnt our D stats improve this year? Didnt our records improve this year?

SinisterCane

Question for anyone

If Shannon left AL with poop players, how come none of AL's player are starting for him 3 years later

Mack Brown stepping down at Texas.

Bull$sh!t. Shannon wasn't a good enough HC to fix the rot in the program, but the team that he took over from Uncle Fester was terrible.

I was blindly slingin' mud but the NOFENSE still sucks as a DC

30CINCO

I have a question on recruiting for those in the know.....

Does the D-CORD recruit? I usually see HC, Coley,Barrow, and Franklin tied to most recruits.

How do the recruits feel about the D-CORD?

Account Deleted

Still hearing Mack Brown may step down.

I sent the No'D's resume just in case. Also offered the U would pay a share of the salary if they take him....

orange 'n green in the vein

He gains nothing, nothing Sinister, except a year of not being able to have a job that provides for his family, so if he has his degree, there's nothing left for him to do in college because UM isn't winning anything of note again next year.

'Two recruiting cycles,' meaning . . . eight years from now, or meaning two years of recruiting from now, so it takes a total of six seasons? Either six or 11, good coaches don't need that much time to win, at Miami, they need much less. Again, win next year, something significant that UM hasn't won before or else the AD is only going to have easy marks who refuse to be critical of a failing coach to manage ticket sales for, luckily, Blake's got a history of doing just that since he took the job so we know he's qualified at doing that, but as for much else? Jury's still out until the off season at least.

I'm pretty sure it took Butch a few years of recruiting to get up to the level the 2000-2002 team....just saying that it does sometimes take that much time....EVEN at Miami.

Thats big as far as development and learning the playbook. We signed a small class last year, whats the max number we can take in as EE's? not including the guys who didnt get in and will try again.

Ohio_Cane

For those of U not counting, that's 6 EE's so far, with possibly more to come.

Do I remember someone trying to tell me that we couldn't have more than 4 EE?

BEERicane

People still read newspapers (in print)? Now, THAT is newsworthy.

HUGE!

I don't know an exact number, but my estimates was around 9-10.

And yes, especially if Griffin ends up qualifying.

LB

"I agree with a lot of what you say U Mike but I don't think our d-line and backers will be worse next year."

Agreed. If AQM can put on some weight to go along with that speed, he'll be effective. I also like the fact that he wasn't a freshman phenom (the types who usually fade). It'll give him something to work for.

Defensive tackle is just yuck. It has been for years. It wouldn't shock me to see two 2014's on the two deep, if not starting altogether.

"If Shannon left AL with poop players, how come none of AL's player are starting for him 3 years later"

I "think" I understand your question. Why aren't Al Golden's players (2011-2013) starting for him in year three? In fact, they are.

The seniors that play and produce? Hurns (my LOF), Linder, Susan's Man, Hagens, Morris, Green, Gaines. Though Porter/Robinson play, they don't produce. The majority of starters are Golden's players.

I do think the defense will be better next year, but until the schedule comes out... I won't know for sure. But D'Onofrio sucks, his ceiling is so low they might have hit it, and no amount of 4 and 5 star d-line talent can change that.

Being talented can win you 10 games (which they still can do) and the Coastal. But until your players get aggressive (outside of Perryman/Howard) and produce a pass rush, you're going to be stuck at 2nd place in a 4th place conference.

LB

"So, that's Berrios, McDermott, Young, and Harris all in for spring so far. Yessir. Yes. Sir."

Isn't Berrios that fast slot guy from NC? I remember that speed and agility if that's him.
