After a three year hiatus from post-season competition your Miami Hurricanes find themselves back in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl.
This time they are not facing the Wisconsin Badgers but the Louisville Cardinals in the Russell Athletic Bowl this Saturday.
What: Russell Athletic Bowl
Who: Louisville (11-1, 7-1 American) vs. Miami (9-3, 5-3 ACC)
When: Saturday, Dec. 28, 6:45 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Where: Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium (65,438), Orlando, FL
Opening Line: Louisville -3.5
Louisville and Miami both entered the season with conference title aspirations and each ranked in the Top 10 earlier this year, but untimely losses have the future ACC opponents facing off in Orlando.
Miami self-imposed a bowl ban each of the last two seasons, making this the Hurricanes first postseason appearance since the 2010 Sun Bowl. Louisville head coach Charlie Strong has led the Cardinals to a bowl in each of his four seasons. A victory could give the Cardinals back-to-back bowl wins for the first time in program history, but as we see it, that is very unlikely to happen.
With an in-state bowl game, Miami should have a huge advantage based on the fact that it is the program's first postseason appearance in the Golden era.
Louisville will hope to avoid a serious Hurtt from the Hurricanes as they have not seen the same level of play that led them to the top of the NCAA rankings earlier this season.
Prediction: UM 34 - UL 31.
Finally first again!

Just gotta comment on Manny's scout sources talking about D'No having a sound scheme but lacking talent. Saying he's running the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive scheme. 1. We don't have the personnel to run the 3-4 effectively so that is nothing new. We do however have the personnel to be average to above average in running a 4-3 defense. That is what is missing. 2. I don't give a sh*t what those scouts told Manny...D'No is not running the Steelers attacking version of the 3-4 defense. Not even close. I will not let that misinformation slide. Sorry Ohio...not gonna happen.
Again, the argument isn't whether we have the talent to run Golden and D'No's defense. We know we don't. The question is whether we have the talent to run another system on defense (4-3). The answer is we do.

I know we joke about how Rivals lowers a kids star after he commits to Miami, but in this years class we have had a few risers. Chad Thomas rose from a 4-star to a 5-star. Brad Kaaya (who only had an offer from San Diego State at the time we offered) along with Brandon Powell rose from 3-star to 4 star status. D. Jackson went from a 2-star to a 4-star. Of course other players have dropped, but Miami really got on a few kids earl this year and may have found some gems.

It was also speculated that it was in response to a Bleacher Report article naming him as one of the top recruits in the nation who are wavering on their committment.
Even though every time asked he's said something to the effect of "I'm going to take my visits cuz I've never left Miami, but I'm not going anywhere. I'm a Cane."
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 27, 2013 at 09:07 AM
Think the BCS was flawed? Ya, me too.
NIU was ranked #23 and lost to Utah State. Oh, and they were also 1 win away from playing in another BCS bowl. Ridiculous.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 27, 2013 at 09:15 AM
LEts gooooo fellas were a day away from whooping on some cardinal ass!!!
I cant wait to see Hurtt's face on my 60" ima go off on that fat F***.
UM wins and wins big!!!! 48-17!!! I know I know Umike im nuts but I believe it..
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | December 27, 2013 at 09:59 AM
UpNorth... maybe a little nuts lol.. I think we can win, I just don't see how we only hold them to 17.. not a chance lol. BTW would score 17 on Miami lol
Posted by: UMike | December 27, 2013 at 10:02 AM
Most interesting part of your ranking posts UMike is out of all the "4-5 Star" talent we brought in over the last two seasons, only three were defensive lineman.
That says a lot about demand for those players and the resons behind a lot of our defensive shortcomings this season and last.
Muhammad and McCord are really developing. We just need 8-9 more like them.
Posted by: Go Canes | December 27, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Go Canes, yea, we have brought in a lot of offensive and secondary guys, hardly any lineman and LB's. I think at least some of it has to do with us being so bad on D. Only certain kids want to come and and change it, some want to play on a D that is already good. This class is addressing a lot of those issue, although probably a year late.
Posted by: UMike | December 27, 2013 at 10:11 AM
LMAO cmon umike BTW? that was too funny man...
It's going to be fun and our boys will be laying some cardinals out... Hopefully Dno doesn't have use sitting 10 yards back still lol.
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | December 27, 2013 at 10:15 AM
UpNorth..ok maybe not BTW..but I bet they would score lol... I do think Louisville is overrated, but TB is not and if we cannot get pressure it will be a long day. You know our DB's will be 10 yards back on 3rd and 5 lol.. AND will backpedal before the snap lol....If Morris is efficient and we can put together some drives and keep our D off the field we will be good. I think Coley and the return game will be very important.

Soooo if we had a vanilla schedule, what does that make Loserville's schedule? These dudes are in for a long night pls believe that!!!
Look at what happened to Loserville vs a Florida based team in UCF.. We gonna be in there like swimwear.....
Doesn't the lil song go something like.....
Loservville's Bridgewater is falling down, falling down, falling down, Loservilles bridgewater is falling down!!!
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | December 27, 2013 at 10:31 AM
UpNorth..I said earlier in the season that Louisville might play for a title because they wouldnt lose... I didnt expect UCF to be good this year. The had a pathetic schedule.
Posted by: UMike | December 27, 2013 at 10:34 AM
I doubt Chad is wavering about his commitment if he's serious about his music. There are very few football schools with as fine a music program as UM's
Going to Alabama could enable him to get training in banjo and Jew's Harp, but jazz and classical piano .... I don't think so.
Posted by: Old Skool | December 27, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Yea I remember you saying something like that.. And pathetic might be an understatement lol, but yea definitely weak. IT's crazy how we considered our schedule vanilla but compared to loservilles it's not that vanilla at all

SMOKING CIGARETTES IS BANNED BUT:
The first batch of Denver businesses approved to sell recreational marijuana are getting their licenses.
The city is giving out licenses to the owners of 42 medical marijuana shops and growers Friday.
Denver is one of 19 municipalities and seven counties in Colorado that will allow retail sales of recreational pot to those 21 and older under voter-approved Amendment 64.
Only existing medical marijuana businesses in Denver are now allowed to make the transition to recreational sales. Of the 42 approved so far, eight are retail shops, 30 are growers and four are infused product manufacturers.
