Of course they are. "Pleasant suprprises" simply do NOT happen in UMike's world now do they? U hang out with Yandle? LOL

UpNorthCane27

Soup, Umike is just tryna troll us he knows theirs something up with those two guys and UM... Umike I see you my dude keep it close to the chest lol.

UpNorthCane27

One guy we haven't really talked about since his commitment is TYRE Brady, the kid can flat out play man, just caught some highlights of his and kid will become a beast.

UMike

SOUP.. I just dont think there is. If Golden knows about any surprises, I dont think he would of included them in that number. Cook is going to be an EE wherever he goes...does that give you guys hope? lol

UMike

UpNorth..I have heard plenty of good things about Brady also.

UMike

The JUCO's dont count as EE's do they?

UMike

According to 247 McDermott, Kaaya, T. Harris and Mayes are EE's. I don;t think Kaaya is any more though.

UpNorthCane27

Those are the eight right there. BUT!!! not so fast my friend Al Golden said he "Anticipates". SO ima take that as in Al golden knows more then what he is sharing Lol.

@Manny_Navarro: Al Golden anticipates about eight January signees. Says this is probably his best recruiting class at #UM

This MUST be his best recruiting class since he got here. Anything less would be unacceptable.

Probably is not the right word. This IS his best class. And it's going to get better before Feb 3rd.

UMike

yea..but Golden cant say those words exactly without hurting his players from pas classes lol.. but we know lol

All those players need to do is look at the class rankings and can figure out that this class is shaping up to be better then the class they were in...... not rocket science, lol.

Go Canes

Amen!!

@osmattmurschel: Al Golden on recruiting: “We’re recruiting at a higher level right now. I can’t tell you how good it feels to recruit without handcuffs on.”

Golden did not limit EE's to 8.

He said, "I don't know, Manny. It's still evolving. I would say safely, 8. It may grow depending on what transpires here."

That's more telling than just saying "I anticipate 8"

Ohio_Cane

Roger Harriot resigned from USchool. Wow

BigWindyCane1

Harriot is taking a position with FAU. That is good news for UM

herbieibis

Could be that Ramon Minor could be our next LB. Loves the "U" growing up and still does.

He looks like a guy who can probably put on 20 pounds without slowing down; just be a super-physical WR eating smaller DBs alive.

orange 'n green in the vein

So, where's the drinking tailgate lot going to be Saturday?

Ohio_Cane

This will go down as one of the funniest recruiting days ever. More to come.

Jordan Scarlett to FAU?

Really???

Huh.

Ohio_Cane

Jordan Scarlett and Deonta Fair both committed to FAU today.

That's not a typo.

Ohio_Cane

They won't sign there. End of story. But it's funny as hell

Ohio_Cane

Well, Fair might, but not scarlett

BigWindyCane1

With all the turnover among defensive coaches at FAU and other good defensive assistants at other Florida universities (they all had higher ranked defenses regardless of the so-called lack of "talent"), it might be the right time to consider some upgrades on the Canes defensive coaching staff, starting with D'No himself.

met up with soup and the gang at the pep rally for the game. Good times, great getting to meet fellow spacers!

BigWindyCane1

In the long and proud history of Hurricane defenses! I have never heard the lack of talent as an excuse. I see a lot of talent on the Canes defensive side of the ball and they should play a lot better. These players are now primarily Golden recruits. Shannon is no longer an excuse. This last two years are the worse hurricanes defense ever, and they all played under D'No.

I held back from criticism of D'No because I like Golden. But D'No isn't getting it done.

UMike

Wasnt it posted earlier that the USchool coach was taking a position at FAU? Maybe they are following their coach... but I agree it wont stick lol

BREAKING: Roger Harriot resigned this morning as head coach at University School!!!

SFHS Sports ‏@SFHSSports 2h
Harriot has been offered a position on Charlie Partridge's staff at FAU but has not been officially hired. The process is underway.

Ohio_Cane

UMike, yes that's why they're "committing" to FAU

Dear Nike,

If you are going to give us a 2 tone colored helmet at least make em look like the ones you made for Syracuse. Or is that smoke on their helmets too?

The Work 12-27
**Brad Kaaya had been holding out hope for a while that his school would allow him to graduate early, but he told me today that he will not be able to do so. The hold-up is a religion class that his school requires him to take. Kaaya is still solid to Miami regardless of him not being able to get in early, but this is a blow to his chances of starting as a true freshman. Kaaya will be in attendance for Miami's bowl game in Orlando against Louisville. I may sound like a broken record here, but he has yet to give me any indication that he is flipping from Miami despite other reports.

**Speaking of Brad Kaaya, he is pumped up about the possibility of playing with his teammate Brayden Lenius at the next level. I mentioned Lenius as a name on the radar a couple weeks ago and look for that offer to come next week after the dead period is over. Lenius is back in Canada right now for break, but look for him to visit Miami in January as well. I expect multiple big programs to pull the trigger with him as well so Miami won't be a lock for him. Having Kaaya on board is a huge deal with him though. The two have formed a great connection in their first season together. Lenius has incredible upside and becomes even more important depending on the qualifying status of Lockley and Griffin.

**Miami got a big boost to their recruiting class yesterday with the signing of Junior College defensive tackle Calvin Heurtelou, but it will come down to the wire with the other junior college commit, Michael Wyche. Wyche is currently struggling to qualify for Miami and the Canes have sent in an appeal for him. A class with Wyche and Heurtelou would go a long way to solving the issues on the defensive line, so hopefully for Miami they can get Wyche into school

**For weeks, we have heard that Dalvin Cook is FSU bound and nothing in the last few days has changed my prediction that he will wind up there. A Central teammate said this week that he thought Miami was where Cook would end up, but that's about the only pro-Miami thing I've heard with him in the last three weeks.

**A Carol City source told me that Trayone Gray is working his hardest to qualify at Miami. Last I was told, he had work to do on both his GPA and test scores so I'm afraid this sense of urgency might be coming a little too late and I have not realistically counted on Gray to be apart of this class, but he would be a massive addition as an elite playmaker with a 5-star body.

**We will be getting definitive word on Derrick Griffin within the coming days. Everything hinges on his ACT score that he took on December 13th. I know some people have wondered if he will get the scores back with enough time to enroll, but that will not be an issue. Miami does not begin second semester classes until January 13th. Griffin will be a true freshman at Miami if he qualifies.

**I checked on the status of Braxton Berrios' mid-foot injury that he suffered during his season and he told me he is "basically" 100%. Berrios will be competing in the Under Armour All-American game so hopefully the effects of that injury are not shown.
