WWIM, are they alluding to what the 2014 uniforms will look like? Because that's an interest of mine. Oh, and what do they mean 'go outside'?!?! It's -2 degrees.... funk that.

PS - I hope TV is having a crappy weekend in Baton Rouge.

For those who think this is a make or break year for this staff:

### Negativity has swirled among some UM football fans, with many upset about defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio and the four blowout losses this past season. Associates say Al Golden has grown weary of some of the criticism.

“What the hell do people want?” one high ranking UM Board of Trustee member said. “Does anyone realize what the NCAA thing did to us? That team this year was an ordinary team, and we went 9-4. It will take three years to build this up, but this is the right guy to do it.”

With 10 days remaining until the 2014 National Signing Day, the University of Miami is already making inroads with next year’s class.

On Friday, Jordan Cronkrite and Tarvarus McFadden — two rising prospects in South Florida — received long-awaited scholarship offers from the UM coaching staff, two days ahead of the Canes’ Junior Day event on Sunday.

The school will host some of the area’s top Class of 2015 prospects on campus with many hoping to further their connections with UM’s staff and some trying to get offers of their own.

Cronkrite, a running back from Westminster Christian rated four stars by multiple media outlets, has been eager to get offer from the Hurricanes and plans to attend the event.

“It’s exciting,” said Cronkrite, who also has Florida State, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama among his suitors. “[I] got to talk more with my parents about the future.”

As for McFadden, rated a five-star cornerback by Rivals from Plantation American Heritage, the UM offer came after saying last Saturday he was barely in contact with the coaching staff.

“Better late than never,” McFadden wrote on Twitter in response to Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas receiver Sam Bruce, a sophomore who was invited and expected to attend the event.

Quite the change from his comments during the South Florida 7-on-7 Express tryouts where McFadden — who has offers from more than 20 schools — said “I guess they’re not recruiting me.”

McFadden will attend UM’s event alongside teammate Torrance Gibson, who is rated a five-star quarterback by 247Sports and has been recruited by UM since he was in eighth grade when Canes coach Al Golden took the job in 2010.

“We talk about it [playing together in college] from time to time,” McFadden said, “but we’re just going to wait and see how it plays out. If it happens, it happens.”

Another set of teammates who could join forces at the next level — especially at UM — are Cronkrite, athlete Tim Irvin and tight end Devonaire Clarington.

Irvin, the nephew of former Hurricanes standout and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, did not confirm he will be attending UM’s junior day, but the four-star prospect has taken a handful of unofficial visits to the school in the past year.

Clarington, who will be in attendance, is a 6-6, 220-pounder who will play at Hialeah Champagnat Catholic next season. Staying close to home and “seeing my family after practice” are aspects he’s factoring in his decision with Alabama, USF and Georgia also paying him the most attention.

“It would be nice [to keep playing together] because we have that chemistry,” Cronkrite said. “We could help each other compete so it would be nice.”

St. Thomas Aquinas has the most confirmed players attending Sunday’s event with seven, and a possible eighth still deciding.

Bruce, FAU running back commit Jordan Scarlett and cornerback Rashard Causey are the most well-known players of the group with cornerback Damon Arnette, and offensive lineman Samuel Clausman and Philip Parchment also attending.

Aquinas wide receiver Devante Peete, who is likely to attend, is a 6-6, 200-pounder who holds the school in high regard. He wants to visit Alabama, FSU, LSU and Ohio State in the coming months.

“Miami is always going to play a big, major [role] in the recruiting process with me because I’ve been growing up a Miami fan,” Peete said.

Other players expected to attend: FSU commit and Miramar cornerback Tyrek Cole, West Virginia commit and Miramar receiver Khalil Lewis, Miami Killian safety Jaquan Johnson, Coconut Creek Monarch receiver Calvin Ridley and safety Shawn Burgess-Becker.

What kind of journalist allows this 'high ranking UM Board of Trustee member' to say this stuff anonymously? Is he supposedly fearful of retribution? Like he's the courageous whistleblower within the administration who's willing to stand up for Al Golden?

Dude on a Pale Horse

1800's were rough as hell. You had to be gritty as heck to make it out of your 30's. And you'd probably be 1 or 2 of 8 kids that did so. So many diseases. Those people never showered. No refrigeration. No electricity. I like the world we live in. We have options. We can go live that way if we want to, all though it is a big transition. I'll take my vaccines and electricity any day.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Well most days.

Here's the ENTIRE quote...funny how Go Canes conveniently left out the part with Duh'Nofrexcuses in it.

And BTW, I wonder if Bernie Kosar has something to do with this, He's a BOT member.

Go Canes

@TheStateOfTheU: So, Canesport is reporting that 5-star RB Bo Scarborough (Bama commit) showed up in the Gables for an unofficial visit last night? Well then

Go Canes

@TheStateOfTheU: Canesport also said Malik Rosier intimated that Scarborough plans to come back for an official visit next weekend (last visit before NSD).

Go Canes

CaneRock can you please scroll up to 9:18 am?

Can you please have a single fact correct just once?

You're so ready to attack anyone who isn't screaming for someone to be fired you're constantly throwing out nonsense.

I just want to read and share Cane information, not spend time correcting yet another rant by you.

Yeah, Rock, it was me that cut out the first paragraph of the quote, since it was irrelevant to the point I was trying to make (i.e., that journalists shouldn't just be handing out anonymity like tic-tacs).

CaneRock

Well Go Canes, you know what they say about the sun, and a dog's behind. You know what they say about broken clocks. You got me...applause...now go hug yourself.

CaneRock

And Go Canes, getting Scarborough to visit is very good news. And Bama being deep at that position works in our favor.

dj moonbat

Scarbrough is big and strong, but doesn't look all that fast on film.

Still, it would be nice to have another RB or two with Powell out of the picture, and Dalvin Cook passing.

If Scarborough recommits to Bama, Saban might as well just hang up the Pro-Style...fire Kiffin...hire Switzer...and run the WISHBONE!

A backfield with Yeldon,Henry, and Scarborough would be SICK!

The beauty of a festival like this is U get to appreciate fully the "romantic notion" of the time period without all of the risks and dangers that existed back then.

I am pretty sure that most people there who were partcipatiing or in attendance had there cell phones hidden away somewhere and civilzation with all of the modern conveniences was only 4 miles north or south of where the festival was being held.

j.w.

LOL, Soup. Yeah, I would have hidden my phone as well. :) I have a lot more fun playing softball with my daughters and riding than reviewing recruiting. Still can't get away from it entirely, though.

Barry Jackson ‏@flasportsbuzz 3m

The people that Ross trusts(including Carl Peterson)keep telling him Philbin is part of the solution(though Caserio apparently disagreed).

Barry Jackson ‏@flasportsbuzz 6m

So Ross' commitment to Philbin - who's 15-17,lost 2 games Fins were expected to win to make playoffs - ultimately cost him in GM search.

Awesome day at the U juniors day...Outstanding athletes are really high on UM...6'6" receivers wow...Always like tall receivers.

If get Bo 3rd and short will no longer be a problem. I think the Miami Coaches are doing an excellent job recruiting...Like Coach Coley wrote on twitter it's the calm before the storm...

Excellent article SOUP...Now i am going outside ice skating in the old port of Montreal on the St-Lawrence river...I will stop reading the posts of the Negative Nancys for a while...And will wait for the recruiting updates from the CEO and Ohio...Go Canes last blitz before NSD. The future looks bright.
