Six Atlantic Coast Conference baseball teams, led by No. 1 Virginia, are ranked in Baseball America’s preseason Top 25 rankings.
The Cavaliers, who were picked by the ACC coaches as the league’s preseason favorite last week, earned the top spot in the poll for the first time in program history. They are joined in the Top 10 by No. 5 NC State and No. 6 Florida State.
With Virginia at No. 1, it marks the second straight season that a team from the ACC has held the preseason top spot after North Carolina last year.
Rounding out the ACC teams in the Top 25 are No. 13 Clemson, No. 16 Miami, and No. 17 North Carolina. The six league representatives are the second most from any conference in the country.
Miami will return its entire starting rotation in 2014, including Louisville Slugger All-American lefthander Bryan Radziewski and USA Baseball Collegiate National Team member Chris Diaz. The duo combined to make 30 starts this past season, and both finished among the top three in the ACC in earned run average.
Both Radziewski (29th round, St. Louis Cardinals) and senior righthander Javi Salas (38th round, Minnesota Twins) decided to return to campus after being selected in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, while Freshman All-America David Thompson (.286, six home runs, 46 RBI) will help anchor a Miami lineup that returns seven starters from a year ago.
Joining the returning nucleus is a recruiting class ranked among the best nationwide. The group was rated No. 4 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 6 by Baseball America – its highest ranking from the publication since 2006. The Hurricanes have had two classes ranked among the top 10 by both publications in back-to-back seasons.
The 2014 season gets under way on Feb. 14 with all 14 ACC teams in action. The poll from Baseball America: http://theacc.co/1fhEuP9.

“What the hell do people want?” one high ranking UM Board of Trustee member said. “Does anyone realize what the NCAA thing did to us? That team this year was an ordinary team, and we went 9-4. It will take three years to build this up, but this is the right guy to do it.”
I tell you what I want.....a D that knocks the hell out of people plays up close in your face man all game and blitzes the hell out of the QB. I want knock outs, carry offs, concussions and Tatumizers. I want to physically punish our opponents into submission so they have to change pants at halftime because they pissed and crapped their pants!!!!! The nerve of someone on a meaningless Board who knows not one thing about this game. I have forgotten more....I want a D that is full of horror and moral terror......not a roll of Charmin toilet paper called U soft!!!!! To defend such a joke is immoral. I think Patchan kid is good....but you can almost feel the hesitation about UM.....he sees the soft meek feel....no ATTACK!!!!
Put me on that damn Board, cause I know my stuff....hell make me DC for $100,000 a year....we would be # 1 in every category.....my 13 year olds are better defenders.....WHHOOOOOOOOO said Flair!!!!!!

That's the best news we've seen in 3 or 4 months UpNorth. Getting those back is like the cheat pennants from NCAA football. +10 to Speed +10 to Agility +10 to Acceleration.

I read the columns carefully for the last couple days.....and I think SoFl kids, CA kids, VA kids.....heck any kid who has multiple offers from major programs are all walking around with that entitlement attitude. I went to school with guys who had big offers, and I have been coaching kids 35 years who get them.....and my cousins coach in Orange County CA and around LA.......we have always felt it. It is a big honor to get that offer from a major....and if a kid is good its really a big deal. I think it is everywhere....its normal to a degree....but some kids take it too far....that's where parents and coaches have to help kids keep an even keel. Many of mine have gotten nice offers....and since I stay in touch with mine, and their parents we try to let them enjoy it but at the same time focus. Its a fine line.....but can be done. Trust me, I deal with a lot of kids and have for a long time now....its everywhere.
Regarding our trio of hopefuls everyone is worrying about....they are kids. FL kids....they saw UM squeeze a couple wins out with a little luck......beat a FL team that while ranked at first turned out to be pretty bad on the field.....hit a big losing skid that was embarrassing defensively....very bad....and then get torched in a bowl by Teddy and Co....a former UM recruit.....yes the first half looked ok....and they were excited by that #7 rank....we're back SWAG BS......but as time went on they had to see what the real deal was.....that bad D, terrible scheme and complete collapse....then just up the road the real WE'RE BACK TEAM....yes TEAM wins the NC.....and you are 18....and highly recruited....and want to play in the big time.....where is your head at? The board guy can talk 9-4 all he wants....but you are what you are.....and a lot of people saw those games on TV....and saw the numbers and the drop out of sight....but I guess that's the NCAA matter.....man its the schemes....passive does not work....soft is bad.....and we are still in that phase in all 3 areas.....its about Hating..Hitting..Hurting....3 Hs baby!!!!

Dude
I remember when they came out and absolute fear came over the crowd, officials, opponents.....they were hard, mean, unrelenting and dangerous......like gang of gunfighters from the Old West who while robbing and pillaging really didn't want the money and jewels.....they loved the death and destruction.....that's it Dual Armed Dealers of Death and Destruction......that's how mine play D......and O......we want to put you 6 feet under baby....bury ya without pity or emotion trained assassins with no morality or emotion.....that's Defense and Offense....when we learn to coach and play that way.....then we march to the top....JMO

Def not looking good for valentine anymore, been reading some boards and word is that Hurlie can't even get a call back from the family. Why is this important? well because Hurlie is like best-friends with Valentines step dad....
Im just going to forget about Valentine as much as it pains me, kid is going to be a damn goon on any defensive line. IF we get him on NSD I will do flips all over my office.

Step #1 of the process is going back to the black cleats and black socks. I like. Hate the white socks and white cleats. Look to much like UF.
Step #2 of the process would be going to more retro uni's. 80's/90 's with a little of early 2000's.
Then we would be guaranteed 10 wins! Get er down equipment room!
