If you don't think this program was a raging dumpster fire a month after Golden got here then something is really, really wrong.

Golden said out his own mouth to start judging him the moment he stepped foot on campus but now you want us fans to disobey HIS ORDERS??? Or was that another one of his lies?

I'm not sure I get the continuity stuff..

We're near the bottom of D stats, so we stay there?

We don't have any big time DL or LB's so we don't get any?

We lose big games against top teams and look terrible so we keep this trend going?

I'm not sure the past 3-4 days have offered any help going forward into next season.

Somehow AG is now one or done as coach at the U...and No'D will be there with him...

He in no way threw Coley under the bus.

Golden said of the offense that "We can talk about all the explosive plays, the things we did well. The two areas we failed in that negatively affected our team were time of possession, which really can be attributed to our lack of success on third down - and James (Coley) and I already met - our time of possession and third down conversions (are issues).

"We were second in the country in 30 yard plays or more. We want to continue to have an explosive element, but what I'd like to do is continue to be more balanced. We had the explosive element, improved 16 yards in our rushing yards per game, but I wanted to get that number higher, to 180 or 185 (from 160). In an ideal world I'd shoot for 200 because that would help us with time of possession. Our points per game were 34th in the country. We had more 10 plus yards run this year, and that's attributed to not only Duke (Johnson), Dallas (Crawford), Gus (Edwards) and OT (Eduardo Clements), but that's a lot of guys cutting downfield and giving extra effort. Our completion percentage wasn't as good as it needed to be. Obviously that's going to be a challenge for us this off-season, trying to get that completion percentage up to 65, 68, 69 percent so we can control the ball more. We were 15th in the nation in 20 yard passes or more; we had one less sack allowed than last year, which was really good, were 23rd in the nation. There's a lot of positives there, but without holding onto the ball or converting on third down we're not going to be able to move forward as a program, not just an offense."

How is that throwing someone under the bus?

Explain to The Herb how is length supposed to make this defense better, when it's the sorry ass coaching and schemes, that holds it back.
What style of offense do we run? I still haven't figured that one out. I can say, it's the telegraphed version. No backs in the back field, hey we are passing. Line up in the "I" formation we are running, lineup with one back, it's 50/50 pass or run. Line-up under center it's run.

What?!?! You're insinuating that we didn't have any talent/production at DT? No no that can't be right. Robinson, Renfrow, and Porter were amazing!! Of course, when they got pushed back 5 yards when the other team ran the ball (nearly every time), that was all D'NO's fault. We should fire him because he hasn't developed a scheme that stops opposing offenses while having DTs that get blown off the ball every play.

False equivalence;

False equivalence is a logical fallacy where there appears to be a logical equivalence between two opposing arguments, but when in fact there is none. Journalists use a form of this logical fallacy when comparing two sides of a scientific debate in an attempt to provide a balance between a scientific and denialist point of view. However, there is no equivalence between the two sides, when one is supported by evidence, and the other side with little or no evidence, of which most is of low quality. In other words, in false equivalence, someone will state that the opposing arguments have a passing similarity in support, when, on close examination, there is large difference between the quality of evidence.

The staff being supported now is not as accomplished as the staffs that were previously supported and in some cases, received less or unequal support by administration on down the line.

But willful ignorance, the blog just never can get enough of.

SOUP

Highlights from Al Golden’s news conference from Monday afternoon:

### He said there won’t be any changes to the coaching staff. As we reported, UM never asked him to dump Mark D’Onofrio, and Golden had no intention of doing it. He said “the answer is not change, the answer is continuity.”

He clearly trusts this staff and wants to see what the staff does with a team that is adding a high-end recruiting class.

“First year without the NCAA cloud,” he said. “There’s a big part of me that wants that, that hasn’t experienced that…. We have an experienced group, mature group coming back. I look at my depth in the spring [with] the first team. We’re a lot deeper. I like the symmetry we have.”

Pete Ariz:

Powell motivated to prove he's elite

There was a lot of uncertainty around the Miami football program over the past 72 hours regarding the future of Head Coach Al Golden and his interest in Penn State. The fans weren’t the only ones in the dark about Golden’s status at Miami though, as recruits were questioning whether he would return as well. Canes commit Brandon Powell was relieved when Golden released a statement that he would return.

“Yeah, I was worried he would leave. I was just waiting until something came out, but I tried not to think about it too much. I was real excited when he said he was going to stay because I’ll be down there in school in one more day,” said Powell.

The speedster out of Deerfield Beach will arrive on campus this week as an early enrollee.

“I’ll be there on Wednesday. I’m about to start college workouts, learn the playbook, and all that. So it’s about to get real. I need to go in and work. It really hasn't hit me yet, but it will when I start packing tomorrow.”

Powell has already heard stories about the difficulty of the offseason workout plan at Miami.

“When I went there on my visit, I was with Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, and Malcolm Lewis and they were telling me about the UTough workouts and how that made them almost want to quit football. I’ve been working out with my trainer who has been pushing me since the third grade so I’ll just have to push through.”

Although Powell has the ability to play multiple positions at the next level, he projects himself as a running back.

“I see myself at running back, but I’m a very versatile player. I can line up at the slot or catch the ball out of the backfield. I see myself as a running back though, because that’s what they recruited me as and that’s what I want to play.”

Powell had an incredible season with 1339 rushing yards and 20 TDs, but for some reason seems to be a forgotten member of Miami’s class.

“It motivated me a lot. I really wasn’t paying attention about all that talk about Joseph Yearby and Dalvin Cook because even if they would have came, I would compete still. It still motivated me that people don’t think I’m one of the elite running backs around. I’m just going to go in there and work hard to show people why I’m going to the University of Miami.”

MCC98 knows some people, who think Butch couldn't coach when he was suffering from actual crippling sanctions instead of not being allowed to talk about a trumped up investigation and failing to win while doing so, who might go for that, but they're historically horrible judges of coaching acumen so they probably would be horrified to see the truth in the air. Go Canes is just more mature than the rest of us. You adjusting to a new normal is often very hard for many people. Go Canes has just realized early on that mediocrity is the new normal. He understood before the rest of us that we are Penn State South. Al Jolson, is a pure propagandist. Like a rotten politician, he says all the right things and would have you read between the lines on touchy stuff. He would have you believe we are on our way up, well duh, I hope so because we were dead last in defense, in the ACC. The problem with all this rhetoric, is the stats don't lie. I'll give the first 2 years of his regime a wash but no way The Herb lets last year slip by. How many starters did we have coming back on both offense and defense? What 9 back on o & 8 back on D and what did that outstanding coaching get us, but some close wins and 4 ass beatings. weren't even competive, just got plain run over and around! Now we have a good class coming in and we expect theme to be our savior. What has this coaching staff done for the guys like Chick? In 3 years have we had anyone resemble an A-A, well Perrymen is close. Dorsett has been up and down, Duke is close but you can't keep running him in between the tackles or he won't last. He stayed nicked up until he finally got his ankle broke on a play where we should of run the dam fullback.
They're saying we run a Pittsburg Steeler type defensive scheme, well last I looked, it takes true pros to run that scheme and we are a little short in that department. We don't have the LB's or a nosetackle for it to be effective, nor the size or talent. Taking a look at next years schedule, we should beat Neb, Va. tech, who will have a new QB and here's hoping we don't make that dude look like an A-A, Louisville will have a new QB but most of their starters are back on both sides of the ball, FSU will beat our brains out, the rest of the ACC, aside from Clemson is garbage but we even have a hard time taking the trash out. Golden needs to shut up and let his team do the talking for him on the field. The excuses are even lame at this point.

Canezitis

I swear I think no'D has some pictures of Al doing something he shouldn't have done and is holding it over him-" take me with you or I go public with the photos". How else can you explain a sane man saying the defense is trending upwards , totally defending his BFF and throwing coley under the bus. He didn't say one bad thing about the D except "we have to improve". Well no shyt Sherlock! I'm beyond pissed that this douche is staying. I only have cable for um games. I may get rid of it at this point because I can't sit through another season of ineptitude.

VfB_Cane

Take it for what it's worth (from Manny on Twitter):
Golden said the way defense will change is how some personnel is used in packages, etc. Said arrival of recruits will help #UM

How incoming freshmen can reduce opponents YPG by 150 is beyond me, but that's th eonly hope we're left with.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Go Canes is just more mature than the rest of us. You adjusting to a new normal is often very hard for many people. Go Canes has just realized early on that mediocrity is the new normal. He understood before the rest of us that we are Penn State South. The sooner the rest of us realize that everything we loved about The U, the dominating Linebackers, the blazing speed, QBU, the swagger, 12%, is all gone, the sooner we can accept the new normal like Go Canes.

GOLDEN PRESS CONFERENCE:

Manny Navarro ‏@Manny_Navarro 14m
Golden: "I'm not a candidate at another job and I plan to be at the University of Miami." #UM

Susan Miller Degnan ‏@smillerdegnan 14m
Al Golden: "Obviously there are some univ that have expressed interest the last couple of years"

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 15m
Did somebody get report wrong, or were you offered and declined Penn State job? Golden: "I stand on my statement from yesterday."

Christina De Nicola ‏@CDeNicola13 15m
#Canes Golden still hasn't mentioned Penn State by name. "I plan to be the head coach at the University of Miami."

Susan Miller Degnan ‏@smillerdegnan 15m
Now .@GoldenAl talking about defense and if he'll make changes: Says he's responsible for the defense and the personnel -- for everything.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 15m
AG: "So many little things I look at as a head coach that say OK, the answer is not change. The answer is continuity."

Miami Hurricanes ‏@hurricanesports 16m
.@GoldenAl on the defense “We made explosive plays on defense, scored 5 touchdowns on defense."

UMike

When asked if he intends to make changes on assistant coaches he said "i do not"

Golden says that Ray Lewis, Kevin Olsen and Rashawn Scott were all suspended for bowl game. "Conduct detrimental to team."

UMike

**** "explosive"

UMike

WOW... Golden just said we had an "exposive" defense because we score 5 TD's on D.... he has lost his dam mind lol...

Go Canes, Valentine isnt coming so you can cross that part off. And how is it that 2 unproven JUCO's (maybe 1 if Wyche has issues) are better than what we got now?

LB

Joe Rose is a fool.

"Golden on #Canes defense: "The answer right now is not change. It's continuity."

Translation: D'Onofrio's staying. Consider me out of the Golden camp and firmly into neutral.

Dude on a Pale Horse
