Im sorry but if the "process" means giving up 500 yards of offense the last 6 games of the season.....then I think we should re-evaluate this so called "process" were on.

86Cane

About the only place where you will find 'The U' to be their 'dream school' is on CaneSpace!

There IT is right there.

CaneRock

Texas, whatver D'No has been teaching the last 3 years hasnt been working... well unless you play high school teams lol

Posted by: UMike | January 06, 2014 at 10:18 AM

Treon Harris would have a FIELD DAY!...a CAREER DAY!...against our "D"!

raizecane

Who do we believe???

Two sources close to the situation confirmed to the Miami Herald that Golden did indeed speak with Penn State about the job on Saturday, but an agreement was never reached.

It is unknown whether Golden was offered the job, though Penn State beat writer Bob Flounders of the Harrisburg Patriot-News tweeted Sunday evening, “I’m told by a PSU source I trust that Al Golden was never offered the Lions’ head coaching job. Never.”

Lets see if this post gets eaten up as well....LOL

UMike

UpNorth, if the season were reversed, and we started out giving up 500 yards a game, I might feel different lol

Texascane

he said UF and FSU run a similar scheme with South Florida talent and are elite defenses. lol

Posted by: UMike | January 06, 2014 at 10:06 AM

Two years ago FSU went 9-4 and lost to Virginia and Wake Forest. Winston made FSU a winner- not the defense. Florida was 106th in pass defense and 87th against the run.

In addition, if he thinks Easley or Joyner or half of the defensive players on FSU or UF could qualify for Miami, Pete Garcia is as dumb as I thought when he fired Cristobal.

UMike

Speaking of Treon Harris, I think we made a mistake not offering him as a QB. If he doesnt win the job, he is still an elite athlete that will help somewhere else. And his father is very influential in South Florida recruiting. I 100% agree with the staff being honest with him, but I think he should be given a shot. If we can give a shot to Rosier, we can to Harris imo.

UMike

Texas..I just think it was funny he say both UF and FSU run the same scheme as Miami lol

UMike

Joyner would of qualified, he was a private school kis. Shannon didnt want him because he was small. Just like Greg Reid

86Cane

I want to see what the CEO of the Space has to say about the interview…Im sure he heard the same blah blah we did but the CEO spin should put in perspective.

I don't want to or need to listen to the interview. My Al Golden BINGO game card is already full thank U very much.

It is like Texas said: It is what it is and to Al Golden it is all about "The Process". Like it or not that is not going to change when U have complete faith and utter belief that it is going to work because U are the "smaRtest man in the room".

It comes down to this: Golden is a man of clear conviction and he and his "core values" are either going to win at UM or they are not. If he wins in the next TWO YEARS then fine. And if he doesn't then he gets fired. Either way the problem solves itself over time as most things always do.

What I do know is this: Any good will Golden had built up with most of the fan base (not the blind loyalists like some here) is now gone. As someone said "Blood, meet shark" meaning that there is now bad blood in the water and the sharks are getting even more agitated and aggressive than they once were.

Only one way to fix that: JUST WIN BABY!

86Cane

If Miami starts poorly next year or loses four games again there will be fans in the stands (NOT ME) with signs that say:

"Golden: U shoulda went to PSU!"

UMike

86..it is going to be hard to win while keeping D'No, and losing top DL recruits from your back yard. You know what is crazy... FSU lost dam near their whole staff, including their best South Florida recruiter and they still cleaned up in South Florida and oh yea, are in the title game. So the continuity thin goes out the window when the right people are brought it.

I want to see a experienced coach like Schiano or Davis break down film on the three defenses and then tell us if the three schools all run the same defense. Someone just saying that is nonsense.

UMike

Miami WILL lose 4 games next year. I hate to say that, but it is true. We got Nebraska, Cincy, Louisville, FSU, VT etc next year. We will be younger on the DL, at DT at least and will have a rooking QB. There is also a good chance our best player on D will be gone.

UMike

86.. thats why it is funny lol

CaneRock

Posted by: UMike | January 06, 2014 at 10:27 AM

BOTH! of ya'll are WRONG! LMAO!
Shannon wanted em' both. He wanted Reid so bad, He recruited His cousin, Jamal Reid.

86Cane

UMike...IF we win it's all good and IF we keep losing Golden will get fired. So either way let it play out and the "problem" will solve itself. I have already stated that unless Gray Crow is the starting QB next year that I am NOT buying season tickets.

GRAY CROW!

Dude on a Pale Horse

UMike, you are right about Harris.

86Cane, well said, its what we have to deal with, hopefully the process works and Golden isn't in over his head as it seems he is.

He has ZERO credit with me. He better win big next year. D better be fixed next year.

UMike

CR..Shannon did not go after Joyner. Miami offered, but never really pursued him. Same with Reid until it was to late. RS wanted big corners

UMike

I thought Jamal Reid was gonna BALL too lol

UMike

Miami didnt really go after Joyner, they did Reid but only after he blew up in he All-Star game lol.. RS wanted big coners

jsy

Umike do you think there is a chance valentine comes back? I hope so or well just hear more lack of talent excuses.

dg

As the great Don Meredith should to say, "Turn Out the Lights, The party's over"..RIP the University of Miami football program courtesy of Al Golden & Co!

UMike

If Coley does the same job he did with Morris this year, it wont matter who our QB is lol

UMike

JSY.. he did Tweet he was decommiting "until" he coaching situation is done. But he also said LSU is now his leader. At this point IDK, I cant remember a player ever decommiting and hem coming back.

UMike

I dont think he comes back, and Miami probably takes a 2nd tier guy like Edgar Cerenord.

86Cane

Hopefully the process works and Golden isn't in over his head as it seems he is.

We ALL will know soon enough.

Ohio_Cane

Valentine will come back, IMO.

Kaaya's teammate WR Brayden Lenius (6'5, 215) will be committing to us soon as well, IMO.

UMike

Ohio.. I was reading about that. He does have a Miami offer and Kaaya has been on him. I know he is big, but I think he is a plan C guy.

UMike

With all the WR talent in Florida we should never have to go to CA for a 2-Star recruit. But I like his size.

laquinton

http://sebastianspub.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/no-d-in-coral-gables/

This is pretty good.

Ohio_Cane

Lenius is NOT a plan C guy. Plan B at worst. This kid is legit. Good routes, good hands, fights for the ball and can do something with it after. He's been Kaaya's main target basically for most of the year.

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/944546/

jsy

Honestly I felt valentine would decommit when we started offering lower tier dts, so I'm ready to hear the no talent excuse next year bc this staff can't develop anyone.

I can't blame valentine though if my goal was to make it to the league and it was um vs lsu. That would be a no brainer for lsu unless I want to play db then dno is the man with no equal.

Ohio_Cane

Honestly, Lenius reminds me of Brandon Marshall (NOT saying he's as good as him). Maybe it's the Bears looking uni's, but his size and hands also.

Da U N Houston

Is the sky ever NOT falling around here?....IJS

There is no need for our team to read other team blogs to get motivation. We provide all they need right here!

Not a homer, and yes our D sucked the second half of the year and our O never really came though ALL year. Glad Morris is gone, I think he really started to believe the hype. But now time to get in the weightroom, and film room and get better. Including D'No and Coley.

Go Canes! Carry on!

UMike

Ohio..he might be talented, but he is a plan C guy..at least this year. Considering that Miami missed on 4 of the top local WR's. If Miami hit on any combination of the 2 between Lane, Dixson, Holmes or Rudolph, Lenius wouldnt even have a commitable offer lol... Berrios and Brady were plan B guys... Lenius and Njoku are plan C guys. I am not saying they arent talented, but according to the guys we missed on, they were Miami's plan C lol

LOL. Not much work now for an unemployed game day activity director like me.

UMike

Hopefully we see some reports soon about the staff visiting with Valentine.

This is pretty good.

Great post. True. True. True. I was just excited at the prospect of a coaching upgrade without having to "fire" someone. Oh well.

I agree with this completely.

But to talk about firings, failures and the death of our program after three of the worst seasons this program has ever been through lacks the vision stated above.

herbieibis

At this stage of the game in recruiting, all we got is some dam plan "C's". We got 3 shots to up grade ourselves the next couple of weeks. At LB we have Young & Minor, coming in to visit and we have Prince coming in at OL, anything else are going to be just fillers, or as The Herb calls them space takers. If we don't reel Valentine back in, this is really going to stink. We have enough back-up plans on the roster at that position and what have they done, King & Moore. What has the JUCCO ranks done for us at that position? We had a one year reprieve schedule wise and blew that, now next year, it's back to the real world. Our depth on defense will be young, especially up front and we already know, aside from Perrrymen our sad state at LB is, so look for year 4 to be about the same, coughing up 450-550 a game. Is they're a light at the end of this 12 year tunnel?

UMike

At this point I would rather take a filler a DT or LB, we got WR's... and we cant possible have that many spots left lol

CaneRock

Golden is a JOKE!
Damn near that entire interview was statistics & excuses...PHUCKIN! PATHETIC!

UMike

Go Canes.. I think my vision is pretty dam clear... D'No and our D is the worst in the dam ACC!!! How is that not clear? Come on man lol

UMike

CR.. did you notice who got protected/defended and who got thrown under the bus?

YUP!

He did a job on Coley I tell ya'.

UMike

It has been over 10 years since Miami landed an elite DT. We have had plenty of 4-Star guys commit, but nothing elite since Wilfork.

Dude on a Pale Horse

laquinton,

Great article proving that Golden has no answers in regards to scheme.
