Super MariHO....Please!

Bama OL did not look so good vs. Sooners! He may be lucky to have job at Bama next year because he had ROAD GRADERS for OLmen.

27-47 as HC.....Do I need to say more.

On staff at U would be good but not HC!

Pbcfrcane13

Again don't get me wrong I want butch.....but look at it this way richt isn't making uga till they fire him so stop with that name, If you go for Franklin he's gone in a year or two nfl bound. Butch would be great I just don't see the admin going for it. I hope I'm wrong on that one! Chud I'd be ok with that two just remember he well be nfl bound first chance and has never been a college football has coach.

Golden only deserves 3, NCAA or no NCAA.

4-Real

Exactly Pbc! Would love 2 have Mark Richt....or Nick Saban but it ain't gonna happen! Until we shell out major $$$ we're just gonna have 2 out-talent everyone. Lol

Cola Cane

Nigerian I know Butch's resume but again I would prefer someone younger. If we end up with Butch, I'll back him as before.

Sass

Manny is spot on about Mario. If we get Butch great. Mario could keep this class together and really did a nice job at fiu. Like i said before he could keep most of the O coaches and maybe keep barrow on the D side and bring someone in to run the D.

herbieibis

Since it seems, that Goldie is all but gone, I hope, that these jack of apes don't take more than a week, finding a capable replacement. if they want to drag this thing out, this so called marvelous class, will be minus a few studs we have secured. You can't fix this dam defense losing talented players. The tweeners will not go any where but 3 or 4 of the good ones will leave. Can't bring in a no name. Bring in Butch, let him talk Chud into being the O-coordinator And head coach in waiting. Schiano would be my second choice but we need a defensive coordinator, so why not him. We need someone whose not in it for advancement and doesn't need the cheese.
The only awy Golden could come back here is to get rid of DENO and that ain't happening, so I say thanks for helping us to continue to being mediocre and one of the worst defensive teams in the nation. Thanks for mending some fences with the area head coaches not that it helped you any as most bolted up North. You are a good guy but you can't make the hard decisions, that comes with the job, like firing a coach when they suck.

4-Real

La3, where was Mario the head coach at? Fiu. True powerhouse. Are saying Miami's O-line was better than Bama's? Lol

TLuv

PB I gree the MC would be cheaper but you have to think UM has a good buyout in Al's contract that would hopefully give them more flexibility with money.

Al Golden committed suicide this weekend.

THERE IT IS RIGHT THERE.

4-Real

Miami's O-line sure taught Louisville a lesson they won't soon 4-get!! Lol

Pbcfrcane13

Ok but who are you going to get for 3 million a year at max? Not prying a hc from a big time school for that.

CGNC

Attention all Canespace faculty, staff and coaches: All "Deserve Victory" slogans and banners are to be hereby removed and replaced with the throwback banner "12% or Bust!" That is all.

Alright, time for Penguins hockey

GO CANES

4-Real

When is the administration gonna realize that they're losing wayyy more money taking the cheap route than they would if they just shell out the money to get a REAL staff 2 begin with? Just look at the money UM had to pay Coker & Shannon after they were fired. Combine Coker & Shannon's money with Golden's and BAMMM!!! U have a REEL Corch!!

4-Real

LA3, there's nothing anyone can show u coaching @ FIU! By no means is Mario my top choice, or choice period, just saying unless Blake decides to be the hero that resurrects UM don't get your hopes up.

Pbcfrcane13

4-real smartest thing said today

"They leave and we go 11-1 the next year?"

They came, and we won one LESS game than the previous regime.

Very true. But I would think Butch, Chud, Smart, and maybe Franklin would be more than fine with a 3 mil/year salary. Franklin is making that now but there's no way he wins big in the SEC at Vandy so I could see him possibly making that move. I agree that names like Richt are a pipe dream.

AfriCane

The Dude, since you the AD now, please remove all "Deserve Victory" slogan signs in the building and replace em with "If You Looking We Looking"! Pronto!!!!

Just looked Him up, North Dakota State, huh?

Aren't they the ones, that recruited the "less" talented players from Miami, and make em' players?

Aren't they the ones, that beat KSU?

Interesting.

Texascane

A few thoughts that ran through my head this morning, just my opinion.

Franklin is the designated Rooney Rule interview for this year (all kinds of interviews-doesn't get hired anywhere). See: Charlie Strong for the last four years.

PSU got north of 6 million from the Texans for the O'Brien buyout. They can afford anyone.

Louisville may be a better job opening than Miami if Al leaves.

Chud stays in the NFL as an assistant.

Donna ain't going anywhere near Butch.

Al is too good a press guy to let all this commotion happen without an offer from PSU and close to a deal.

roachcane77

I am thinking old Ray Lewis style...
half jersey with six pack showing!
Maybe Miami Vice Jacket and no shirt!

BEST POST OF THE NEW YEAR RIGHT THERE!

Alverage Grifter...
He's praying they don't take Franklin or Munchak.

We're praying too.

Let us all support Big Al in his time of need.

Canesteeler

Canes nation sit back and observe the cluster fukk of how college coaches operate! We are fools to criticize the decisions 17-18 year old kids make when the men who are the so-called leaders of these kids are nothing but ego filled money whores. Those of you who want to play football at the U, come on. Every recruit and their parents should be selfish as hell in making their choices because the men they will go and play for are only loyal to their bank accounts. It is a business for the players just as much as the coaches.

TJL

I want a Miami guy
Chud & Shiano are NFL guys now-I wouldn't trust them to stay
Mario made a move to further his career to Coach under Satan-I wouldn't trust him either-He is young enough to have NFL aspirations.
Butch is older which would work to our advantage-he has seen it all-been in the NFL and maybe will want to finish his coaching career at the U. How many NFL head coaches are 60+?
Also Butch's teams play with an edge we haven't seen here in years
Keep the O staff intact-bring in Dorsey for QB,a - get rid of all the D staff except Barrow

I would agree that we would be dreaming to get a guy like Butch back at UM until yesterday when he personally told Susan Miller that he would be honored to be considered for a job he regrets leaving in 2000. His words.
And we're already paying Al 2.5 million which isn't chump change. Butch would likely command around 2.5 to 3 million so it won't be a financial situation.

fran

Thanks CGNC the same back to you!

PS-FIRE AL GOLDEN NOW

Pbcfrcane13

Sota my point in butch was I don't think the admin well go for him die to the pay and the fact that going was linked with the ncaa stuff. I know he's been cleared but the edu Donna seems to work she doesn't even want a hint of that stuff around her program.

Cola Cane

Just learned his usual Monday press conference for 12:30pm is now scheduled for 6:30am, so my guess is he's bolting.

Pbcfrcane13

Cola is still set for 1230 630 is his annually radio show with Joe rose

Sarasota 'cane

Why wouldn't Donna want Butch? She wasn't even here when he left in 2000 plus he's already been credited with righting the program after Dennis ran it into the ground. He ran a cleaner program at UM than anyone else I can think of, plus he's a disciplinarian. The bad blood was between Paul Dee and Tad Foote who are gone.
On top of that Butch put up with a lot of crap from us fans before he finally turned the program around. If he can forgive us I can certainly forgive him.

Pbcfrcane13

Weekly sorry

Cola Cane

Oh ok, thanks Pbcfrcane13.

mi@mic@ne

cs is reporting that the Ville is interested in Butch...

SOUP

'Sota, I'll raise your concerns to the President. I'd like to see a deal worked out.

Posted by: The Dude | January 05, 2014 at 11:29 AM

AD...I would recommend the to hiring of the Fran and Jean team as Co-Trainers for the UM team. Jean's experience as 28 years as a nurse qualifies her for the Head Trainer role and Fran's own numerous medical procedures alone qualifies him to counsel and train/rehab young men at UM who have had injuries themselves. That man has prolly had more anesthesia than Michael Jackson.

Sarasota has shown his L/T committment to the blog, I mean program, and could serve are HS Scouting Director, Walk-on coordinator and run our Summer Football camps? I like that call, but your final decision as AD?

CaneRock

cs is reporting that the Ville is interested in Butch...

Razor blade (Strong)...Alcohol (Davis).

SOUP

Cristobal is the least qualified candidate with Miami ties.

Posted by: The Dude | January 05, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Agree but I am afraid he is the most affordable and controllable by UM admin whihc prolly makes him the favorite.

Yoopercane

So it has been said, Miami has a taste for wine on a beer budget. Instead of hiring a good quality coach they were just fine with spending less and getting less. Like the ol saying goes you get what you paid for. Now the U is stuck in a coaching dilemma all because the U dont want to spend the dough? You keep throwing parts on an ol POS to keep it going when you could wisely invest in a new car and not have to worry about it. Its like spraying perfume on a pig, its still a pig but a really good smelling pig.

orange 'n green in the vein

Monty, there are no moral victories.

Game plan by the staff gave them a chance to win but they only out played the hosts for about 17 of 40 minutes, all in the second half which wasn't going to be enough to overcome the 'welcome to your new league, let's show you what it's like to be treated like Duke and UNC here' officiating that piled calls up against them down the stretch.

Tonye earned himself more burn at UNC in a few days with his play Saturday I thought, he needs to shoot only one handed free throws every practice because his elbow is jutting out on his shooting form and he isn't flicking his wrist for enough backspin to compensate to shoot a high percentage from the line and will start absorbing fouls on the offensive end of the court with his activity level and length, so he needs to make the opposition pay for forcing him to earn his points one at a time.

I still say, and I like the guy because he's remade his body in the off season and is The Pimp's first charge, Rion Brown is better as a poor man's impersonation of Jet Terry off the bench for UM, yes I know he's one of the best average in all column players on the team, but UM needs someone to pace the backup wave and Rion struggles when he's accounted for in the opposition's game plan specifically because he's best as just a spot shooter or a one dribble mid range pull up off the shot fake guy. He can't get to the rim and finish consistently enough to be short shot clock beater for the team.

SOUP

When it's all said and done, PSU will have its new coach and we will be stuck with Al and several fewer recruits.

WORST CASE SCENARIO.

4-Real

James Franklin 1st 3 seasons @ Vandy

2011- 6-7
2012- 9-4
2013- 9-4

24-15 in his first 3 seasons @ Vandy in the sec. Now thats progress!

Sarasota 'cane

I agree with the wine/beer budget metaphor but this situation with Butch is unique. Similar to George O'Leary "falling" to UCF.
