Golden has a 22-15 record in his first three seasons, what does that say?

SOUP

As it stands for me.

1. Butch Davis
2. Mark Richt
3. Greg Schiano
4. Rob Chudzinski
5. James Franklin

That is why U are the AD and 4-Real is not. LOL

U might consider adding this guy to the list as an outside candidate IF Golden leaves (I still believe he is NOT):

Attention all Canespace faculty, staff and coaches: All "Deserve Victory" slogans and banners are to be hereby removed and replaced with the throwback banner "12% or Bust!" That is all.

WELL DONE! I have to admit for a first year AD in his first week on the JOB U are doing a great job. Keep up the good work!

BEERicane

Is there now a consensus we are in a better position if/when golden leaves and are severely damages should he stay given how this process has been handled (or not handled at all)?

Sarasota 'cane

Al has to leave now cause he's "one and done" if he doesn't! Butch Davis started that countdown clock yesterday!

Yoopercane

How does Al interviewing for another coaching position NOT hurt this program? I would question his loyalty to this U. How can ANYONE believe in what he tells the brass and recruits or anyone else for that matter. I feel that the TRUST factor has been broken. Like a marriage, how can you be married to your partner and she knows you are still looking? Once you break that trust factor there is no turning back. Al made his bed now he can lay in it. If I was Shalala, I would cut my loses and let him and his cronies go. Hire Butch and be done with it.

24-15 in his first 3 seasons @ Vandy in the sec. Now thats progress!Posted by: 4-Real | January 05, 2014 at 02:16 PM

They beat Austin Peay, UMASS, Florida (not the UF we played), Wake Forest, Tennessee, Kentucky, UAB and Houston in the bowl game.

They also beat a good, not great Georgia team.It was Vandy's first win over a Top 25 team since 2008. Not exactly a sterling record...even for Vandy.

4-Real

Yoopercane, subtract Bethune Cookman, fau, Savannah st & other cellular dwellers from Golden's record & c what u get?

VA Cane

Al Pa LOL you like that do you not CGNC? I did.

I just got news my Uncle Bill passed away. He played for GT coached by Bobby Dodd in late 40s early 50s and went on to play for the Detroit teams in the 50s with Bobby Layne etc that won their last titles. After he retired he was a pilot for American Airlines for about 30 years. He used to come see me play in sandlot HS college.....he was a fine man and I will miss talking shop about this great game with him....

Yoopercane

4-real,
Ouch, touche....you got me there, it was a mirage!

Sarasota 'cane

Sorry to hear that VA! Lost my uncle last summer and it wasn't the same at Christmas without him.

My condolences to you and your family.

VA,
My condolences to you and your family.

CGNC

sorry for your loss va cane. Lol I loved the al-pa reference, meant to tell you that the other day.

4-Real

Anybody got Blake' cell #? Bout 2 call his azz 2 c what's up! U don't think I will?

Texascane

Bobby Layne and Doak Walker played on the same high school team at Dallas Highland Park. The last years of his life Bobby lived down the street from my folks in Lubbock. My dad still angry Bobby went to Texas instead of SMU with Doak.

My condolences on your loss, VA Cane.

laquinton

Va, sorry for your loss. Lost my uncle years ago. Great man, and the family isn't the same. Cherish every moment with your loved ones folks.

4-Real

Sorry 4 your loss Va. Talent runs thru your ENTIRE family.

I agree it hurts the program but I'm pretty sure Al has a clause in his contract that let's him interview for his dream job at Penn State... Kind of like a prenup that let's you sleep with your dreamgirl to continue with your analogy...

Hence we can't fire him or else we'd be on the hook for some mula...

Yoopercane

CGNC,
Excuse me for using this term but Al is a horses A$$ right now for not addressing the issue if he is in or not. The more this gets drawn out the more I am becoming upset. Sorry Soup...hope I dont get called down to the principals office for that one.

Yoopercane

RBLCane,
Thank you for that, now I know where I went wrong..LOL!

CGNC

Yooper, lol, I more than anyone knows what comes out of a horse's behind

4-Real

Regardless of the outcome the damage has definitely been done. Uncle Luke & others are gonna have a field day afterwards.

SOUP

TIME OUT.

For all of you saying that Al Golden intentionally damaged UM or is wrong for interviewing at PSU, that is just crazy talk.

Every coach looks to do a few things every year that we should all do:

1. Get a raise.
2. Get a promotion.
3. Get a new job.
4. Work for his alma mater.

Golden had a chance to do all of those so it was only NATURAL that he interview for the job and accpet it IF it is offered. U cannot hate the man for doing that.

If he stays then he will have some fences to mend, which he can and will do. If it one thing he is good at it is building and/or rebuilding relationships with coaches, players, recruits and fans. He has proven that and that would not be hurt by the looking around at the PSU job. He may even look more "attractive" to recruits because another MAJOR university wanted him (SPIN).

If he goes and we get a better coach then U will forget Al Golden like your some old pair of shoes you wore 15 years ago.

The only bad scenario is IF he leaves and UM hires some other no-name, under-paid, middle of the pack coach with no UM ties or history of winning BIG and we lose a bunch of recruits. Then U can hate on Golden and the UM admininistration.

But until then remember this:

1. Be patient, stay positive.
2. The news will come when it comes, then decide.
3. We have two win-win scenarios in our favor.
4. It could turn out better than U imagine!

More than we know! Even if Al stays this process has started the "one and done" clock in my opinion. There may not be a better time for Al to go for himself and The U!

Yoopercane

I just got spanked! In a weird kinda way soup...I think I kinda liked it! LOL! I will try to adhere to what you have said. I will try to be patient and stay positive.

Well that certainly is one way to frame it. And for all we know it could very well turn out that way?

"Don't U worry, bout a ting. Every little ting, she gonna be alright."

Yoopercane

On another note, I will be watching my Packers hopefully romp San Fran! Hopefully I am not stepping on anyones toes with that one, if I did...I still love ya like a brother! Sam Shields here we come baby!

SurferCane: Samurai Lesson #2:

"Look, eye; always look eye."

If Golden stays he will have to look all of us and his players and recruits right in the eye and tell us his motives and actions. The he will regain our support, or not.

If he goes he probably will not be able to look ANY of us in the eye.

Either way: "Look eye; always look eye."

That is where the TRUTH and RESPECT can always be found.

roachcane77

Sorry for your loss VA Cane. Sounds like your Uncle was a cool dude who led a very full life. Bet he had some great stories to tell you over the years.

Here's hoping for a win-win in this AG saga.
Let's Go Canes!

RARA

Many of you talking about Al waiting so long (two days as of today) are blowing this way outta proportion. If Golden comes back (I agree with Soup and still thinks he will) he will have more than enough time to mend the appropriate fences and talk waivering recruits off the ledge and keep (possibly enhance this class). In all honesty Penn St is the one school that we all were aware Al could bolt to. If he stays the likelihood us he will be at the U for a long time if successful. If he bolts then I thank him for getting the program back in track and move on. The fact is if he leaves this is the perfect timing for him to bolt. The program is still in ascending mode and is ripe for a coach like Butch to take the reins and build on what Golden has done.

I have no problem with Golden looking at this point. It's only been 2 days. Hell, Saban to TX went on for a week and did not end until the boosters ponied up more $$$. As long as the administration pays the $$$ for a Butch or Chud if Golden bolts we will be fine. He he bolts and the don't pony up the $$$ then blame administration, not Golden because this is ultimately a business and given the NCAA stuff and hearing Penn St's coaches name as a hot commodity in NFL circles (been hearing this for the past month), they should've been prepared for Penn St contacting Golden.

RARA

Sorry for your loss VA Cane.

Cola Cane

I guess the thing that hurts me most is losing this upcoming class. Depending on who we get to replace AG, it could be devastating. Oh well, tired of worrying about it, back to watching the playoffs. Gods speed to you ALL in Cane Nation.

Sarasota 'cane

The difference between Al and Saban is Saban didn't have better coaches waiting to take his job at Alabama, nor did Alabama's fan base want Saban to take the TX job.

mi@mic@ne

Ferman was on qam and said Al will announce that he is the new PU coach. Al and PU had been expressing interest before the bowl game.

Pbcfrcane13

Did he say when?

Va Cane - Sorry for your loss

mi@mic@ne

Al is gonna be on Joe Rose at 630 tomorrow morning. Ferman says that they dont fly Al to the college unless its certain there is a mutual agreement before.

RARA

Sota...who cares whether Saban had better coaches to take his job or what the fan base thinks. What's that got to do with the price of tea in China? If Saban wanted to be at UT right now he would have and he took the time he wanted to to get what he wanted. The fact that there may be better coaches bodes well for us if Golden bolts. My guess is we will know Monday and if Golden stays he will have a month to mend bridges and secure this good recruiting class. If he bolts and we hire a Butch or Chud we secure this recruiting class.

Sass

He's Staying!!!!! Best scenerio!!!

Va Cane - Sorry for your loss brother

Pbcfrcane13

Yea but while it was going on saban was saying he wasn't taking to anybody.....and not going any where. Golden hasn't said a word knowing that recruits are starting to doubt.
