Perryman's baby mama's parents are very well off, from what I understand. Money for the child would not be the issue, IMO.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 07, 2014 at 01:36 PM

But what if he wants to make his own way, being dependent of your baby momma's parents :/ ok

That's very possibly the case. I don't know him or them, so I'm only speculating.

WWIM, you DAMN RIGHT! that was racist. Red McClown just made UT my 2nd favorite team!

CR,

I've often thought of London Fletcher and Perryman and similar guys.

Ohio I can confirm they are very well off, they come from a part here in rhode island where not just anyone lives.

Yes, they would, just like they want them running slants, catching touchdowns, making tackles and covering receivers. But as the head coach and face of the program? No sir.

BREAKING NEWS - NEMO COMMITS TO CANESPACE

"It's humbling and it's flattering, and it's a testament to my staff, that other blogs have expressed an interest in me. However, as I said yesterday, I'm not a candidate for any other blog. I'm here and I plan to continue blogging on Canespace. I never speculate on any other blogs, and I'm ready to move forward."

When asked whether he plans to make any changes in his staff Nemo responded, "I do not. I'm happy with those guys, I really am. We've made a lot of progress in a lot of areas. I'm excited about where we're going [on Canespace]. We have some really good writers and bloggers coming back next season. The trend right now is positive."

I'm not denying a guy named Red from Texas is a racist. I'm saying don't jump to conclusions. It IS Texas, they think they can buy anyone they want.

They expected Gruden, Saban, John Madden, Bill Belichik, etc. But they got Charlie Strong.

orange 'n green in the vein

I don't know if McCombs is or isn't a racist but one thing I do know, when Franklin gets the job replacing the guy who replaced the guy who protected Sandusky from the law when he was discovered making rhythmic slapping sounds in the shower with a child, we'll know for sure that whoever is doing the hiring there isn't one since nine wins at Vandy is a miracle much less in consecutive seasons while nine wins against a joke of a schedule at UM is cause for a hot seat.

"It's the mindset he brings," Leak said. "You see it reflected in the program. You've seen it at Louisville. They bought in. Everyone there. Charlie's been through a lot of adversity in coaching, getting passed over for a bunch of jobs, and all he's done is prove himself over and over.

As a team, you take on the personality of your coach, and his toughness is one of the biggest things you see reflected." Chris Leak on Strong

I hear people saying Strong doesn't have the patience or appetite for the public relations and politics of Texas.

Neither does Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops or Art Briles. All of those guys would rather be reaching out to recruits, finding a better way to connect with a player or coming up with a better third-down play.

All of them enjoy winning on their terms and tolerate the PR and politics when they have to do weekly press availabilities or a summer golf outing with boosters.

Texas doesn't need a football coach who has the message packaging of GSD&M (or Idea City or whatever they call it now) with a minor in gubernatorial politics.

Texas needs a football coach who makes everyone accountable - from the equipment manager to the coordinators - with one, clear, attention-to-detail message from a tough-as-nails former defensive coordinator.
What every follower of a school's football program - from the billionaires with their names on campus buildings to the sophomores in the student section - truly wants is a coach who wins, wins the right way and who physically wants to punish your ass so you'll never forget it.

That's Charlie Strong,

Chip Brown, OrangeBloods columnist
////////////////////////////////////////////

Oh how I wish that you could describe our head coach that way! Actually he's the complete opposite of our guy.

Dude on a Pale Horse

He said that the process of hiring Brown was better. I don't think he said Mack's reume was better. I don't know if he's a racist or not, but his comments don't make him seem like one to me. He seems like a spoiled billionaire that thinks Texas could have done better. I personally don't think Charlie is the best fit for Texas, but we will see. He's a good coach, I can't take that from him.

Dude on a Pale Horse

orange 'n green in the vein

Oh, and Perryman needs to stay and finish his degree. What's he even doing wasting time waiting for a non-1st grade projection to come in?

Even if 3G has his degree, he's in a very catch 22 situation, the coaching at UM isn't going to improve his stock at all next year and he's lost what little explosiveness to go with that still unstoppable motor he had as a freshman that made him a factor, now he's a lumbering guy who is neither fast nor strong enough to be a line force, but at least he can do a bunch of bench presses during the summer. The MAC staff screwed him over big time, no wonder his dad is getting into shouting matches at games over his non-performances in blowout losses. Maybe he finally puts it all together with one last go round in college and saves his career though? Stranger things have happened, like Sam Shields starting nine games as a senior corner in college and then catching on in the pros.

LB

In any context, that guy's an idiot. Compare the respective success of Brown and Strong. Though Hurtt's UM tactics were creepy, you can't deny Strong's success.

Furthermore, Brown had an unlimited budget (just like Notre Dame). If you spend consecutive seasons unranked, you should be fired.

And to preface comments: UM does not have an unlimited budget, but Golden chose to keep D'Onofrio and his horrible defense.

I am firmly out of the Golden supporter camp and into neutral because of that bonehead decision. Sue me.

Friends, Canes, Trolls! I've come to bury Golden, not to praise him.
Many a times I've defended 'Clark Kent' based on the enormity of the task he's Biden with & the unreasonable nature of canes fans. I've gone against most bloggers & shared similar views with only a very few. Well, that is no more. My constant MO was & will remain rationale. While my goal is not to share the same view as anyone & I seriously couldn't give a horse's piss what one or all thinks, if anyone fails to bring 'Clark Kent' to task, then u do the U an injustice.
From the transcript of his interview with Joe Rose, his response to The question about his interest in the penn state gig was to 'plead the 5th?' All he said was that, I para phrase, he was 'moving forward?' Most of u r into politics and I'm sure u know what he meant by evading the question. I don't care what u all say about cane sport reporting on this, but I totally believe fieldmans' reporting on this. He wanted the penn state contract. He only pulled out in the '11th hour.'
Then on the question of the defense, he gave evasive answers and pointed to progress with the use of minimally improved stats. On the other hand, he mentioned something about generating a better pass rush with 4 line men. What happened to his beloved 3-4? Is that a 3 & out for the 3-4? If u believe in 'Robins' scheme, then y switch. If u r showing progress by referring to stats, then y move to 4-3? Isn't the talent, according to u, the curlpit here? How can u even be proud of statistical progress when u r playing Savannah state & USF?
I've finally seen Al 'Clark Kent' Golden for what he is. A sneaky dude that paints Preety pictures about who he is when in all honesty, he's no better than Urban Myer. Scratch that! I prefer urban Myer. At least he doesn't pretend to be what he's not. The truth is, Al has bitten up more than he can chew. He's a coach in training. And unlucky for us, he's internship is the U.

I think for Perryman's NFL career he better leave. In only three years here he is already up to 240 pounds via UTough. Listed at's 6'0 (which is a strectch imo looks more 5'10 in person) I think that's already too much weight. With these coaches infatuation with weight gain, another year of Utough will have him up to 250. Leaves little room to pack on muscle once he gets with the NFL trainers. They'll probably ask him to lose weight.

On Chik I absolutely agree with you. As a matter of fact I read where an NFL scout stated Chik will have to lose weight to even be effective in the NFL.

Manny:

U.S. Army All-American defensive tackle Travonte Valentine dropped his commitment to the University of Miami last week when talk of coach Al Golden possibly heading to Penn State began to reach a fever pitch.

Tuesday, his high school coach Mike Tunsil said Valentine could end up rejoining Miami's class now that Golden has announced he's staying put. But the 6-3, 338-pound standout and his coach at Hialeah Champagnat want to have a sit down conversation with Golden to "make sure everyone is on the same page."

"Travonte just wants security," said Tunsil, who said he's handling all interviews for Valentine until he makes his final announcement on National Signing Day. "He's been saying UM for a long time. He loves UM. But for Coach Golden to go interview for another job was unsettling.

"A lot of things can change when a coach leaves. Now that Golden is back he wants to find out why Golden [interviewed] and if he really is planning to be there for the long haul."

Tunsil said Valentine has communicated with Golden since he de-committed on Saturday after the U.S. Army All-American Game. But Tunsil said he hasn't spoken to Golden and will reach out to him this week if he doesn't hear from him soon.

"Travonte loves UM, the small class rooms like here at Champagnat," Tunsil said. "His mom is close to him here. It's all about sitting down with Golden and getting on the same page. He has a great relationship with their coaches, coach Hurlie Brown. He's not asking for any starting job to be promised or anything like that. He knows nothing is given. It has to be earned."

Valentine, ranked the eighth-best defensive tackle in the country by 247Sports, named LSU his leader after the U.S. Army Game. Tunsil said Valentine plans on visiting UM and LSU before he makes his final decision on Signing Day. He said Valentine could also end up visiting Alabama or Kentucky before then.

"He just doesn't want to go somewhere and then there is a coaching change," Tunsil said. "People have been badmouthing him on Facebook and Twitter since he de-committed. It really isn't fair to the kid. He just wants to see what's going on."

Tunsil said any rumors about Valentine having academic issues and not being able to qualify at UM aren't true.

"He's got the grades and the test score. It's always been a core class issue and he's been taking care of that with online classes and here," Tunsil said. "Travonte could qualify at any school in America except the Ivy Leagues probably."

The hell with Texas, Strong and whoever else outside of the "U", we have our own problems and a delusional coach who thinks we are trending up, although aside from nine wins there is nothing to merit that statement! Alfredo, get your ass out there and get us some talent.
Let The Herb be blunt with you, this is what you need and please no plan B or C, we need another big running back, unless you plan on going to the spread option, oh I forgot to mention it's to late this year because they're all gone. Go get us a big time WR, oh I forgot we whiffed on all 4 from the state. Get us a couple, not one big time LB's we have 2 coming to visit, seeing if you can keep from botching this chance. Get us another big time CB, well that we'll have to wait until next year. Now that Valentine has flown the coop for the time being, now The Herb sees where Wyche may not be able to get in until the Spring but could get into most any other Uni. if he chooses to now. If that happens then what, another mad rush for some half-ass JUC0? I'll give an "A" for our O-L recruits and QB's but lets make them better, how about it.
