Hmmmm... Briles staying put at Baylor? Could UT have Jimbo on the hook?

RCCF

Like Honestly How many jobs/careers really honor a person making strides to better themselves Outside the building tht they are already apart of? ie. You work for Dell do you believe Dell is really gonna make nice with you to interview with Packard because they are paying you more?

Longtime,

Nor do I. I assume its not forbidden by the NCAA. Maybe one of our really smart NCAA rules bloggers could tell us. Ohio_Cane always seems to know these kinds of things. The reason I asked that is because I've been preaching that's what Miami should have been doing since before the bowl game.

BEERicane

You certainly are correct about the business world, RCCF. However, in the academic arena it is perfectly accepted practice to shop jobs if approached.

RCCF

this post peaked my interest. can u elaborate a little more on this? how does racism really work?

Posted by: 30CINCO | January 03, 2014 at 06:34 PM

Racism is the belief -- explicit or implicit -- that there is a hierarchy of races, and that society should be organized to favor one over the others.

In America, racism is primarily white supremacy. Although white supremacists favor whites (and especially white protestants) over all other races and ethnicities, America's institutional racism has always pushed blacks down the hardest.

So, it is not racist for a black man to be angry at white people, and to take another black person's side in a societal dispute for no other reason than racial solidarity. For white people to engage in racial solidarity against other races, however, IS.

It might not be very forgiving, and it might be a self-defeating response to racism past and present. But American racism is about keeping blacks down, and whites up. Regardless of Luke's problematic stances (and they are many), he is not being a racist when he takes Randy's side of things, even if he's doing it just because Randy's black.

If AG goes look for Perryman and a few others to bail as well.

Best we can do is find someone fast to hold the recruits.

Butch maybe, I like Charlie Strong, Franklin at Vandy.

Report: Al Golden offered Penn State job, expected to take it

Posted by John Taylor on January 3, 2014, 4:59 PM EST

Al Golden
AP

Well, that certainly escalated quickly.

Mere minutes after it was reported by various media outlets that Al Golden would be one of at least two FBS coaches who would interview for the Penn State vacancy, CaneSport.com is reporting that Golden has been offered the head-coaching job with the Nittany Lions. More importantly if you’re a fan of either program, Golden is expected to accept the offer, the Rivals.com website reported.

The site wrote that “Golden’s representatives were working out the final details with Penn State on Friday afternoon.” According to previous reports, Golden and Penn State were set to meet about the Nittany Lions vacancy at some point today.

There has been no official word from any parties involved regarding this development.

“Miami officials were laying the groundwork for a coaching search Friday while awaiting final word from Golden on his decision,” CaneSport.com wrote in lieu of official word from The U side.

Golden, who recently completed his third season with the Hurricanes, played his college football for the Nittany Lions and was on Joe Paterno‘s staff in 2000 as a linebackers coach. Following Paterno’s firing in November

The problem is their source...Canesport

VfB_Cane

We may be disappointed in hisresults on the field, but Al Golden understands the game called recruitung as good as anybody out there. And he has reminded us time and again how toxic it is to have rumours out there in the final weeks before signing day.
Other than the NCAA saga, he could have shot down those in an instant. He chose not to - a clear indication he is on his way out.

I honestly believe UM and Al would be better without each other, not the right fit. Miami needs more of a untraditional coach like Jimmy or Erickson not a nice players coach like Al. Bring on Chud, jay gruden, or whoever. time For new blood!

The operative word being "fit"...I agree. Especially defensively...a slow scheme, and fast players, don't mix.

The longer it takes for Al Golden to make a statement the more likely he will be the next Penn State coach. If we don't hear from him tonight...He is gone.

this thought: u think CS is incompetent/mischievous enough to screw up this time as well. wouldn't that cut their subscription by @ least 50 point? is fieldman that retarded?

Last time Braxton miller played in MIAMI canes kicked his butt.

Dude on a Pale Horse

So I was trying to find out if money would be an issue for Butch. Here's the numbers I found. Golden's last raise brought him up from 2.14 mil a year to an undisclosed amount. Butch was making 2.7 mil at UNC. That's what I could find from my cell phone.

Golden was doomed when he wore the tie...

Golden aside...Mark May and Lou Holtz were right, the elephant in the room is NOT! Golden, it's Donna Shalala, and Her willingness (or lack thereof), to get the ball rolling foran ON CAMPUS STADIUM!

I know the BUC is a smaller footprint, but it's a PHUCKIN'! joke that the basketball program, with it's lack of a winning tradition, got a venue before the football team!

All that pride the football program brought to The City Of Miami, and we have to travel 30 miles to play football?!

Fair enough. Agree with it in principle. But how would traffic ever get in our out of the football stadium. US1, bird road, Red Road, Ponce could not handle it. It's a logistical NIGHTMARE without the infrastructure to deal with the traffic. Forget about parking....

Ohio_Cane

I'd be very surprised if Strong or Butch would be the next coach. Especially Butch. Burnt a lot of bridges }
