In the next few days Hurricane Club members will receive their 2014 Hurricane Club renewal package. Gifts to the Hurricane Club help in #BuildingChampions at the U.
The Hurricanes proved this in 2013 by winning championships and receiving national recognition with our student-athlete academic achievements. Hurricane Club members shared with us a magical men’s basketball season, watched our women’s tennis team win an ACC Championship and saw 15 of our 18 teams compete in their respective NCAA Tournament.
Perhaps most importantly, Hurricane student-athletes excelled academically, with a school-record 92 percent Graduation Success Rate and a spring semester cumulative GPA of 3.01.
In our continuing efforts to further strengthen the foundation of the Hurricane Club and provide better service to our members, we would like to highlight key information for this year’s annual campaign:
- All Hurricane Club donations are due in full or on an approved payment plan by Friday, January 31, 2014.
- Ticket invoices for 2014 Football & 2014-2015 Men's Basketball will be mailed when your Hurricane Club membership is renewed in full or on an approved payment plan.
Click here to Renew your 2013 Hurricane Club Membership Now
Please use your Account ID and your password. If you do not have your password, use the password reminder link at sign in.
By giving to the Hurricane Club, YOU can help us to achieve the following 2014 Goals:
- Raise $9.8 million in annual support
- Increase Hurricane Club membership to 7,500 active members
- Achieve 20 percent participation in our Canes Plus Program
- Recruit 1,000 new Hurricane Club members
This year, the Hurricane Club is asking all members to participate in the Canes Plus program. By giving at a Plus Level—or giving at the Next Level—members not only increase their priority, but, most important, they maximize the impact on the lives of our student-athletes. Click here to learn more.
If you have any questions or need any additional information regarding the renewal or referral process please call the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6699 and a member of our team will assist you promptly.
Thank you for #BuildingChampions at the University of Miami.
I'd be very surprised if Strong or Butch would be the next coach. Especially Butch. Burnt a lot of bridges }

This kills me. I'm not saying its not true, but Butch gives Miami everything it wants. Miami needs to get over its hurt feelings if this is the case.

Why aren't these bowl games on ABC? Have to buy ESPN I guess?
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | January 03, 2014 at 08:33 PM
Let's go Clemson, put it on them Suckeyes!
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | January 03, 2014 at 08:37 PM
Golden aside...Mark May and Lou Holtz were right, the elephant in the room is NOT! Golden, it's Donna Shalala, and Her willingness (or lack thereof), to get the ball rolling foran ON CAMPUS STADIUM!
I know the BUC is a smaller footprint, but it's a PHUCKIN'! joke that the basketball program, with it's lack of a winning tradition, got a venue before the football team!
All that pride the football program brought to The City Of Miami, and we have to travel 30 miles to play football?!
Posted by: CaneRock | January 03, 2014 at 08:19 PM
Canerock, I would love to have an on-campus stadium, have my issues with Shalala as well (and I am an alum), but this particular topic has been discussed a billion times. The City of Coral Gables will not ever allow us to build an on-campus stadium, it has nothing to do with Shalala. It is Never. Going. To. Happen.
The better approach is to build something closer to campus, but that isn't easy either. Some day, maybe the City of South Miami will let us build something within walking distance to the campus, but I recall hearing there were local politics that were preventing that as well. Tropical Park is another oft-discussed area, but like everything else, it's going to require some money and something tells me that unless Burger King suddenly starts kicking MCDonalds' ass there aren't a whole lot of opportunities for corporate $$.

Sites going down, posters cursing each other, erroneous sources and newsbits flying around, etc. Just stopped in, looking for refuge from the storm.
Posted by: KiriJax | January 03, 2014 at 08:37 PM
I'm over it... Bring back Butch... He wants to rebuild his reputation and legacy, which is the same thing the program wants... He doesn't need money... Would be a match made in Canes heaven...
Butch will get us recruits... Butch will get us a title!!!
GO CANES!!!

I'd like Allen Hurns to go to the Colts. O'Donnell can punt anywhere. Linder to New England and Henderson to the 49ers. Good fits for those guys. Hopefully OT can get an undrafted FA spot. He's a good kid.

Sammy Watkins another Florida player we didn't get.
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | January 03, 2014 at 09:42 PM
Love the speed and offense of Clemson.
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | January 03, 2014 at 09:46 PM
The Herb says this, let the Golden one book, especially, if he is unwilling to fire DENO and this is probably a deciding factor if he takes the Penn St. job. He was probably told to get rid of his Bro and he got pissed off and is interviewing. The problem, his wife loves Florida.
No way this team goes anywhere with that Moron Deno calling the Dee signals. The Herb gave this zero a break the first 2 years because of suspensions, youth and general lack of depth but this year with so many guys back and not having any significant injuries, we still sucked, that was it for me. I'm not in to getting embarrassed and humiliated over & over. Any dam good coached would of done fired his ass after the Va. tech or Duke games.
We had enough talent to go at least 10-3 or 11-2. Al, who is a good recruiter, just basically said "F" the DT position for 3 years and now all of the sudden he wants to bring in 5 or 6 guys, where was this love the last couple of years?
I'll tell you why Coley was hired, it was more for his ability to recruit more so than his X's & O'S. Aside from him we have average recruiters and they are not closers.
Getting 1 out of every 5 stud recruits from the S. Flo. area doesn't get it either. The top WR's all avoided us. Sony & Cook shunned us and Collins last year. I've never understood why we don't recruit the lower part of Georgia & S.E. Louisiana more, instead of New Jersey.
We need to change to the spread option and get these kids in Flo. excited about playing for the "U". We have no identity on offense and none on defense, why would I get excited about coming here.
If Al were to leave, yes we are going to lose some big recruits and thus here comes the toilet again. We don't need to hire anybody for no National coaches hunt. Four names and it doesn't matter in what order;
Davis
Schiano
Morris (Clemson)
Narduzzi
Davis, is a master evaluator of talent but at 62 he may not stay long.
Schiano is younger and also a good recruiter.
the other 2 are both untested as head coaches, one being offense & the other being defense.
Davis would be it for me because he could assemble an elite coaching staff, quickly.
How neat would it be to have him, Schiano as D-C, Orgeron D-L, Johnson-WR, Keough O-L,
Soldinger RB, Barrow or Lewis LB, Gary Stevens as QB coach, & Chud as O-C. Sounds dam good.

James Franklin is not coming to Miami. I know personally he is sick of begging the fanbase to come out and support the team. Franklin feeds off the energy that surrounds him.....he would kill himself if he coached at Sun Life.

4-real….we could have coach Saban,,,,,if we dont win games, people will not show. On other hand, we could have D'no and if he wins 11 - 12 a year, people will show….thats always been the Miami way.
Posted by: raizecane | January 03, 2014 at 10:45 PM
That's my point Raize. What has THIS staff done 2 get YOUR blood pumping these past 3 seasons, minus the Uf win?
Posted by: 4-Real | January 03, 2014 at 11:01 PM
Things I'm tired of hearing fans say...
1. Get rid of D'no and keep Golden. How many times must he tell y'all that this is HIS DEFENSE!
2. Let's bring in former great players to coach. Just because you were a great player doesn't mean you'll be a good coach. Matter of fact, name a good coach in the nfl that was a great player in their playing days. I think you are only allowed to be good at one, playing or coaching.
3. Well I'll just go with those two above for now

I would tend to buy into the notion that failed players make successful coaches. The competitive fire in their stomach needs to be quenched as it wasn't since their playing carriers were unsuccessful. They accomplish that by using the players they coach as a vessel to finally get it done.
