@caneswatch: ESPN's Mel Kiper's list of top 10 NFL prospects by position has two UMers: Seantrel Henderson (No. 10 at OT) & Pat O'Donnell (No. 2 punter).

RBLCane

Someone put together a pretty good vid on our latest recruits as well as some of the stars from the last couple of years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5vpe5RHtg4

GO CANES!!!

Dude on a Pale Horse

Some coach will fall in love with Henderson, I wish that coach all the luck in the world. Super athlete but seems to lack desire.

Ohio_Cane

Dude, I'd be willing to bet once Seantrel is playing for $ he'll excel and work hard. I don't think he liked being a student and "playing for free"

RCCF

Im willing to bet that too Ohio...I think Seantrel may end up being a ProBowler matter fact Vault Me

3yrs Max Seantrel WILL ProBowlCANE

The potential rule change slowing down the game is blowing up.

Most animated argument I've seen in a while.

Terrance Sullivan

I am with the Dude on this one. Loads of talent, lack of desire. I hope I am wrong but my guess is he will be out the league by 2018. Again hope I am wrong.

@McCoyKRHDSports: Sumlin: "Gus [Malzahn] called me with concern.. a number of guys did. This news sprung on us without a bunch of coaches knowing about it."

CaneRock

Besides the off the field stuff, was SH77's career that bad at UM.

Go Canes

@CoachGundy: The 10-second rule is like asking basketball to take away the shot clock - Boring!. It’s like asking a blitzing linebacker to raise his hand

BEERicane

What do the teams do at end of game or half without timeouts if under 10sec. Can't get a play off? That's BS.

LB

"Besides the off the field stuff, was SH77's career that bad at UM."

When giving Susan the business, she sure didn't think so.

SOUP

Just back from Tampa. What did I miss?

BEERicane

Drink and Cigar City (esp Jai Alai) while in Tampa, SOUPster?

SOUP

BEER...negative. One day road trip there and back. Left 9 AM got back 7 PM. Stopped at fruit stand in Plant City and got a flat of fresh grown strawberries and an orchid in full bloom to go with the HUGE Valentine's Day ballon I bought earlier from Publix.

She is happy!

Incredible how much bigger and stronger kids are today:

Least surprising thing ever. Bama played three very good, uptempo offenses this season and got torched by all of them.

@ESPNCFB: Nick Saban & Bret Bielema voiced concerns about the effects of up-tempo offenses on player safety to the NCAA http://t.co/aFo7anuXz3

Dude on a Pale Horse

They could wave the 10 second rule inside 3 minutes. Lets remember these kids arent paid (supposedly) so fewer plays equals fewer hits equals fewer injuries.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I dont think Henderson's career was that bad, just think he has All American potential and never got there.

Go Canes

@JosephYearby: Rehab is on schedule. Got word from the doc that should be able to play this year! Thankful to Jesus, my salvation #GodisGood

Dobroe Utro!

I just realized that the 2015 QB Miami recently offered, Nick Tiano, plays like 10 minutes from me. I will make sure to visit and scout some of his games. The school he goes to is the only one in the area that produces any real talent. Nice private school.

LB

"I dont think Henderson's career was that bad, just think he has All American potential and never got there."

Agreed. He was a very good sixth lineman. But he'll be #1 forever in Susan's heart.

Defenses also get hurt when they get blocked low -- and high, sometimes. Probably ought to get rid of blocking.

To be fair to the offense, though, you'd want to switch to flag football.

And really, y'know, sometimes a guy just twists his knee wrong while he's running and BAM! there goes the ACL.

I think CFB should just switch to playing Madden football. The NFL can start its own minor league and be done with the NCAA once and for all.

LB

I'm going to try to take a crack at ranking our 10 best players. I'm not including freshmen or redshirt freshmen (sorry gazers).

10. Stacy Coley. I'm a big fan of his potential. Some drops early on, but evolved into an offensive dynamo when Duke went down. I'd rank him higher if he had another year on his belt.
9. Jon Feliciano. Steady and versatile. Beat out a ton of good players for starting time. Started 33 games in the past three years (8 as a redshirt freshman).
8. Rayshawn Jenkins. Quietly started 14 games (12 last year) and finished 4th in tackles (46). 3 Int's. Expect him to break out this year.
7. Tracy Howard. I SLIGHTLY ranked him higher because of his evolution and potential on special teams. Extremely productive in comparison to his freshman outing.
6. Tyriq McCord. The very definition of underappreciated and underutilized. He is the best pass rusher on our team and should be on the field every down. His low sack totals are misleading.
5. Deon Bush. When healthy, there is no one who can impact the defense like Bush. A violent tackler and extremely smart player. I also expect him to break out.
4. Shane McDermott. Nobody gives him any respect at all. He missed the first two games at center and still was 3rd team All-Conference. A beast.
3. Ereck Flowers. If it weren't for the two terrors above, I'd have zero issues putting him at #1. Watch his film. If Morris was sacked, it wasn't his fault. He started all 13 games last year, and I totally expect him to be the next premiere lineman into the NFL.
2. Denzel Perryman. Imagine D'Onofrio's defense without him. Now he's a senior. Productive, instinctive, and nationally underrated.
1. Duke Johnson. Enough said.

Looks like another hidden gem like Kaaya. Let us know!

Barry Jackson:

### UM quarterback Kevin Olsen said he was told the quarterback job will be an open competition. But departing Stephen Morris said Thursday he has “no doubt” Ryan Williams will win the job.

Morris, who is training for the draft at Pete Bommarito’s Performance Center in North Miami Beach, said Williams will surprise people next season. “You don’t need a rocket arm to be a great quarterback,” Morris said. But Williams has improved his arm strength in the past year, which has coaches encouraged.

### On Monday, we mentioned you will be hearing a lot this year about five-star Coconut Creek Monarch prospect Calvin Ridley, rated the second-best receiver in the 2015 class. Ridley told canesport.com today that even though he was once leaning toward UM, that is no longer the case, without giving a specific reason. But UM remains one of many schools under consideration.

That's a pretty nice list LB. Dorsett can probably kick someone from the top 10 but that's a good list.

Question: A lot here make comments about our lack of development. Seems like when players play well, it was all talent, but they play bad, it was the coaching. At what point does the coaching get credit for the development of those on this list?

Ohio_Cane

30, with this fanbase? Don't hold your breath.

UMike

30... Thats a good question. As you know I am not a fan of some coaches, and I think there has a been a lack of development. I cant really think of anyone who didnt come in with lots of hype, but steadily got better. Im sure there are some, but none stick out to me.

UMike

Of LB's list, I think only Jon Feliciano came in with no hype and got better. Jenkins shouldn't be on he list IMO.

30CINCO

Would'nt Perryman fall in that bucket of players who came in with no hype and left a better player? According to the "rankings" at least.

canezilla

I WORK NEXT TO MONARCH HIGH SCHOOL,ILL GO HOLLA AT CALVIN AT LUNCH TIME.

UMike

30... I thought of that, but if I remember correctly most Miami fans thought Perryman would be good although he was a 3-Star.

30CINCO

How about Gaines? Went from 58 total tackles his first year, to 83 tackles last year.

30CINCO

What you you consider "hype"?

UMike

For example Mike Smith is a 3-star on most sites, but most Miami fans think he will be great and one of the best players in this class.

Im not saying the staff hasnt helped some kids though, just not a lot imo lol

Terrance Sullivan

Good List but Dorsett should be on the list.

30CINCO

How about Gunter?

UMike

Gaines is a decent player who gained experience..Gaines would be a back-up on mos other teams, if even on the roster. By hype I mean a high ranking, or fans expect him to be good. Everyone knew Duke, Coley and Flowers would be good no matter their coaches.

UMike

I will give you gunter, he has improved and wasnt a highly hyped player.

30CINCO

That's a slippery slope though. When someone like Chick comes in with hype, and he doesn't live up to expectations, coaching is the first word out of everyone's mouth.

30CINCO

Ahh, so experience IS important!

UMike

Well shouldnt a LB's tackles go up after his freshman year? lol

UMike

I think Chick is the best example of lack of development. Unless you're a superstar or get injured, your freshman year shouldnt be your best year.

30CINCO

Well shouldnt a LB's tackles go up after his freshman year? lol

Not only should the tackles go up, but their play should improve with experience.

So it's a little puzzling when someone says' "next year, it will be the same thing"

dj moonbat

There is no way Coley is the tenth best player on the team. He was second on the team in scoring (9 all-purpose TDs) and second in receiving yards. And did it with flair.

On a team with a first-rate QB, people would already be talking Coley up as one of the nation's great WRs.

I gave the man a lot of grief early about the drops, but he kept shoving those words back down my throat all season long. Tasty.

LB

"At what point does the coaching get credit for the development of those on this list?"

I give Kehoe and Carroll all the credit in the world. Heck, I give Barrow credit for simply holding it together after all his woes.

UMike

It could also be more of kids being put in wrong positions rather then lack of "coaching them up". Just because Gaines made more tackles than his freshman year, doesnt mean he got so much better. He got more playing time which allowed for more tackles. Gaines shouldnt even seen the field at Miami, it wasnt so long ago a player like that wouldnt of even got an offer. But he sees the field because we have no one lse
