Another National Signing Day (NSD) is just around the corner and just like the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games every few years you never know quite what to expect. However, we can be almost certain that head games, hat games, misdirection plays, double switches and some dirty dealing and double crossing are definitely on the agenda.
The only thing that is clear is that at some designated time in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 5, 2014 the NCAA will declare NSD open for business at college campuses all around the Nation with what basically amounts to a loud proclamation of: "Let the Games begin!"
Fax machines will begin to whir as they spring to life with what is the life blood of any college football team: A National Letter of Intent (NOI) from high school seniors and JUCO players across the Country.
Both coaches and fans alike will alternately cheer and curse as the news of who signs where comes out in rapid-fire succession as each NOI is received and formally approved by the compliance departments at each school. Spontaneous celebrations of joy will break out and a few cell phones will probably be smashed in mad desperation about the one that got away.
To follow the fast-paced action, of course you can tune into Canespace as our recruiting gurus will be on hand all day to report each official "Welcome to The U!" as it is announced.

Let the Faxes Roll
Posted by: Randall McDade | February 05, 2014 at 06:23 AM
Predictions:
1. JC Jackson – UF
2. Brayden Lenius – UW
3. CJ Worton - UF
4. Travonte Valentine – LSU (Praying I’m wrong)
5. Lamon Gaillard – UGA
6. Lorenzo Featherston – FSWho
7. Tavon Ross - MIZZOU
8. Treon Harris – UF (Hope family ties to UM wins here, but I can't pick it)
Great class overall. Addresses needs and builds depth we're desperate for. Just praying everyone who's committed signs and faxes them in.
Getting Whyche back was HUGE considering I think Valentine is gone. Hope he follows through with JUCO for 1 sememster then comes in May.
Most likely to flip is: Terry McCray to LSU (Don't think he will)
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 05, 2014 at 06:27 AM
I've been told as recent as yesterday by email that none of those guys will sign with UM. I'm hoping this guy is wrong like last year's guy ended up being.
Praying on 1 big surprise and maybe 1 small surprise.
Regardless, if everyone committed signs, we have a great class that helps this team immediately. Especially on the DL.

To quote myself from the last blog:
Enjoy life regardless of what happens today. Football games are won on the field, not in offices with fax machines.

Couple things I wanted to point out, this staff was really on some top guys VERY early.
D. Jackson
The staff only saw him play in the Spring game at BTW after not playing football at all in high school and recognized the potential and offered. We were the first, followed by RS and Arkansas. Jackson started an unranked 2-Star recruit and has blown up into a legit 4-Star recruit with a HIGH ceiling.
Brad Kaaya
I remember thinking "Oh Lord, a 2-Star guy whos only offer is from San Diego State!!!"... Turns out this kid is pretty dam good lol... As the season rolled on Kaaya turned into a legit 4-Star and raked in offers from other big time schools. The main reason Kaaya stuck with Miami was his relationship with Coley which started early. Kaaya is now one of the highest rated QB's in this class.
T. Rudolph
I know he is now going to FSU, but Miami coaches knew very early what they had in him. Rudolph was offered and committed to Miami as a JR, and by the time his senior year was finished he was a 5-Star recruit and the #1 WR according to Rivals.
Other gems are Brady, Jenkins and Owens imo.

Ryan Bartow of 247 just posted that Chad Thomas informed both Miami and Alabama late last night that he will be signing with Miami today.

Grr... looks like mt pick of Harris might be wrong. I am debating if I want to change it or not before he announces lol

Great class if we keep all we've worked for.
Going to enjoy that part of today.
Posted by: Go Canes | February 05, 2014 at 06:49 AM
****Updated again... last one
JC Jackson – Florida
Brayden Lenius – Washington
CJ Worton - Florida
Travonte Valentine – LSU
Lamont Gaillard – UGA
Lorenzo Featherston - FSU
Tavon Ross – UGA
Treon Harris – Florida
I dont think we loose anyone we currently have committed, but if I have to choose a most likely to flip it would be D. Jackson to Arkansas with McCray to LSU a close second.
Even if we land ZERO of the guys above, this is still a solid class, loaded with South Florida talent. We missed on quality DT's and a second RB, but overall a solid class. I think we found a GEM or two in Jenkins and Brady as well.
^^^^ All smoke is pointing towards Harris to UF since yesterday... that good feeling I had is now gone lol

TSully is in da house.

I'm changing mine to JC, Treon, Valentine and Ross to UM!! Haha

From CIS..
DMoney’s Take - Now that the grade questions are done and he's on campus, it's time to start up the Juwon Young hype train.
Peter and I saw him at the Miami camp, and he was the best player we saw all summer. He won every rep at defensive end and did so easily. He's huge, explosive and violent. He shifted into a more of a true linebacker role as a senior and dominated. Mark it down: he will be one of the very best players from this class.

I'd rather have him there than in Tallahssee, as the Gators won't play us in the foreseeable future. I just don't see why a high-profile quarterback not named Tebow would want to go there.
Posted by: VfB_Cane | February 05, 2014 at 06:58 AM
Ohio.. if the smoke is there for a while.. there is normally a reason lol... All this means is you came to your senses and took the blinders off you had on last year lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, UPNORTH!!
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 05, 2014 at 06:59 AM
vfB... Harris would be smart to go there since he is a good fit for their new offense. He also doesnt have the likes of Brad Kaaya, Olsen or Winston to beat out for a job.
Posted by: UMike | February 05, 2014 at 06:59 AM
There is NO live video all day from UM and Hurricane Sports except for ESPN and Fox Sports FL coverage. Blah

U guys got this?
Posted by: 86Cane | February 05, 2014 at 07:03 AM
Cam Newton, Jacoby Brissett, Max Staver, Tyler Murphy ... quite a track record for running quarterbacks off your campus, one would think. Between Harris and Mornhinweg it's a toss up who will be next on that list.
