Moving Dallas is a little puzzling. But once you look at the depth at safety, you can see why we we needed more bodies. Its pretty much Bush and Jenkins, backed up by Carter and freshmen.

RB position looks a little thin tho. Duke's and Joe's rehab has to be ahead of schedule in order for them to make this move, imo. Hopeful it turns out great for all.

UMike

Duke is injury prone and Yearby is tiny. We have 2 freshman coming in at safety. I guess both positions are thin. Im sure if Duke or Yearby get hurt he will switch back.

30CINCO

Gus has to get better, Walter Tucker can run it every now and then but most likely a FB, then we have this kid Deandre Johnson who I am not familiar with but is supposed to be good.

UMike

Johnson came from Iowa and is another small back at 5'8 and 201 lbs. Gus needs to run low, and hopefully the staff can get him to do that. If he keeps running "up" he wont be able to take advantage of his 235lbs frame. Johnson had 18 carries for 79 yards (4.4 avg) in 2011 at Iowa.... I also found this...

"Iowa has dismissed running back De'Andre Johnson after the sophomore had two minor run-ins with police last week.

Johnson was cited for speeding and eluding arrest on Saturday for allegedly driving his motorcycle 60 mph in a 25 mph zone and failing to pull over immediately for police. Just two days earlier, Johnson was ticketed for maintaining a disorderly house after neighbors called police about a loud party at his residence.

"I am disappointed that things didn't work out better for De'Andre," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. "We wish him all the best moving forward."

Johnson played in four games in 2011, rushing 18 times for 79 yards."

___

Johnson is from Miami (Monsignor Pace) and was a 3-Star recruit and Iowa was his biggest offer.

UMike

^^^^ The 201 weight came from ESPN, IDK his current weight, but Miami has him listed at 196 lbs.

30CINCO

Johnson is shorter than Dallas but a little heavier as DC is 5'10-195, let's see how he holds up.

Trayone Gray might be another option.

Jordan Cronkite is a beast. He's better than Jordan Scarlett.

Injury prone? Last year was his first year with any injury that I can remember.

Granted he had 2 minor ones with his head, but those were elevated because he suffers from migraines. Then the ankle. What else?

One year being unlucky with certain hits does not equal "injury prone". Don't think he was injured his whole HS career or in his Freshman year.

Unless I'm forgetting something.

UMike

Ohio.. He had the ankle and I thought he had a concussion also..... but was banged a few times. Im just saying he is small and there more than a few times he had to come out of the game. So maybe not injury prone, but he seems fragile.

Great blogging peeps. Keep it going. Hope everyone has a great Friday. Hoping the best for Hunter.

He left halfway through the UNC game and FSU game. That's all I remember. More than we would like, but not to start calling him injury prone, IMO.

UMike

He left the UNC game with a head injury also

UMike

He broke is ankle and had a head injury. And there were plenty of times he was slow to get up or came out of he game for a few plays. Like I said, maybe not injury prone, but seems fragile. His freshman year he shared carries, and his first full year he we down a couple times... just something to keep an eye on I guess.

Ohio_Cane

I hear ya, and we'll always worry about Duke's health. He's the star. It was his first year carrying the load and this year he'll be even bigger. Golden said he'll play around 206 this year. Should help.

Go Canes

Getting your bell rung isn't being injury prone in my opinion. That happened to him twice last year, both times laying himself out on a block I believe.

The ankle was a freak thing.

He could get 200+ carries next year without a problem or have a season like last one. That's just the game.

UMike

He got his bell rung in the USF game when the LB hit him square in the fack mask, snapping his head around and he left the UNC game because a head injury that came on a block when he took a knee to the head. He does look much thicker this year though.

Just got an email from UM :

"The Miami Hurricanes football team announced Friday that it will take the field during the 2014 season in newly designed uniforms by Nike.

“The timing is right and we want a uniform that speaks to our tradition, yet recognizes current trends,” Hurricanes head coach Al Golden said. “Nike is working on innovative designs with the latest performance technology and we are excited to unveil them this Spring.”

The uniforms that Miami wore during the 2013 season were initially unveiled in 2006. During that time, UM has worn three special edition uniforms: two variations (2009 and 2010), as well as #TheSmoke uniforms and helmets unveiled during the Virginia Tech game this season. Miami also wore its smoke helmets for the 2013 bowl game in Orlando.

“Historically, UM has been a trend setter in college football for uniform designs,” Miami AD Blake James said. “There is no better design team than the group of experts at Nike, and we’re excited about bringing new uniforms to our team and especially our fan base that has been asking for a refreshed look. We have one of the most recognizable brands in college athletics, and we look forward to strengthening that position in the years to come.”

UM is finalizing plans to formally unveil during the coming months. The new fan jerseys will be available at retail stores, including ShopMiamiHurricanes.com, in time for the start of the 2014 season."

I don't think Duke's injury prone, but those concussions do give you pause for concern...especially with someone who has a history of migraines. But He's been playing with migraines this long, so...

But I'll tell you what, before the ankle injury, the hit that made me hold my breath, was the hit He took against UF. I thought it was a knee or something...

Has anyone thought about this Crawford move more than just a knee-jerk reaction?

Is it possible Golden and staff got some good news on another RB we're "supposed" to have, Trayon Gray?

THAT would make this move make complete sense.

Sorry 30, I missed that post.

Go Canes

That would be huge and makes total sense Ohio.

Go Canes

Even if it's not the case, the move confirms they expect Duke and joe to be 100% for fall which is also great news.

AND that they have a lot of confidence in Gus and Tucker.

Just the thought of that makes me giddy by the meat.

Best combo we've had since when? 2000?

We know what we have in #8. Gus/Joe/Tucker/Gray all have potential. They gotta prove it on the field first in order to be compared to those guys.
