The now infamous Canespace "Four Play" that occurred in February involved three Canespacers who attended four UM athletic events in just four days.
We met with UM ticket office reps at both the UM baseball and basketball games who told us that there will be a much more organized effort next year for similarly scheduled events with an special and official "Canespace" group rate made available for these events.
In the meantime we thought it might be enticing to bring you a few more photos to wet your appetite so that MANY more of you will choose to attend next year when we are able to make this announcement.
As you already know, myself and bloggers KYCane from Orlando and TSully all the way from Alabama attended these events.
We toured the UM campus, went to The Titanic Brewery on several occasions, stayed in several hotels in different areas of Miami, visited the gravesite of the late Sean Taylor and generally had a really good time all around.
KYCane is a really grounded, down to earth guy who is easy to talk to and hang out with. TSully just can't help himself, the man is a certified babe magnet.
The Hooters girls twerked for him and could not get enough of the "big guy".
So next year when we make the announcement we need all of you to participate. And if it matters, the Hooters girls asked for you specifically!

Nigerian my friend, I will not sling any mud because that is not my bag but will say this: I have a lot of problems with the way the last 2 presidents have run the show, and the House and Senate are just as guilty. Neither one of these presidents were qualified, or had any real insight to the reality of the world...they see things the way they want to see it and how they think it should be, not the way it really is. I am neither a Repub or a Dem; I am a realist who believes in freedoms of the Constitution yet tolerance of all race, color, creed, religion or gender.
I believe in the principles America was founded on....not in the Amerika of today as a result of 54 years of power politics, big money, big business, Wall Street/Capital Hill cronyism and a mixture of Communism,Socialism, and yes Nazism. You may think you are free, but you are only as free as the Reign of Terror since WWII will allow. The leaders we have are mere puppets huge sources of money neither you or I can fathom. I love America; I HATE this government and all it does to ruin lives. I love guns with all my heart, I love the Bible, I obey the laws, I love being an appraiser and coaching kids, and I respect all people and their rights and never ever bother others. In many ways I am a lone wolf so to speak. And while I have never fucked my cousins, if you did I would have no problem with it as long as you treated them nice!!!!!
America is a great place because of the good people here; the government...not the foot soldiers as they are good people merely working for a top heavy corrupt corporation....is the means to an end....help the middle class help the poor....hell they cannot even imagine being that way, much less spell it or give a tinkers damn about it/them!!!! Regarding the Pres, I am glad he likes hoops, and picks brackets...that he is in touch with. He is a nice guy, good man, great Dad and husband....I like him as a person and would love to blow the froth off a cold beer with him....just not convinced of leadership...seeing the world as a warm fuzzy place...its north its cold cruel and always calculating to find the weak spots and cracks.
My Dad did Soviet and espionage for many years...hes been to the USSR....and may have killed a few of them. Before he died, he told me despite what you may think, they may seem weak now, but they are not. The KGB and secret police run and always will run the Soviet Union....and you can never trust them until they are all dead...for certain as they are an evil stain upon the world. That can also be said about the people who run this country.
The Soviets are brutal up front make no qualms about it thieves and murderers; The Chinese are as well.....but they are just so much more subtle and secretive about it.

Berricane,
I could not use that term for myself....I want things done the right way...laws enforced, common sense policies, strong economy, fair taxes, well prepared but not bloated military....and tolerance of all....but at this stage in the game, the talons of darkness and evil are too deep into the hearts and minds of our Reich.....
I have my home here, but I am planning a move to be on my farm of 300 acres in no mans land. I can farm, hunt fish play R and R as loud as I want got fresh spring water and it will be a place where I can do what I please without govt intervention....I can have my own world the way I want it. I will obey the laws just leave me alone with the over regs and madated BS.
Posted by: VA Cane | March 22, 2014 at 12:13 PM
I was a History/Econ major, Poli Sci minor....and all you need to do is read the Constitution and use common sense re: policies and people......the problem we have is we cannot do that. The left sees everything as a warm fuzzy aw shucks howdy doody all else equal Socialism dream and the right sees everything as start a war different is wrong suppress the masses sit straight dont ask questions Nazism....I despise both cater to neither....and though I go by the basic rules....I am gonna do pretty much what I want....not what someone tries to tell me to do....I am like Keith richards quote...your laws really do not apply to me

Nigerian, while we might not agree on slants, angles, accomplishments, etc ( what some see as positive may be seen by others as not) I will agree on two things: you have a right to your opinion and if I ever insult it I am wrong and apologize, two it is probably best we keep our points and opinions focused on and about the central idea of this blog: UM Sports......and let the others rest where they may. Even if we do stray from the subject, it is best we keep our comments general, positive and neutral. Blog on my friend...enjoy the day and life to the fullest!!!!! VAC

NOW BACK TO UM SPORTS!!!
Posted by: SOUP | March 22, 2014 at 01:40 PM
We are going to hit the field for some agilities drills and activities that revolve around the core of championship football....FUNDAMENTAL FOOTBALL!!!!!
Too bad we think 40 speed stars and swag are what wins.....not in this old boys book!!!!
We will be playing for another title while AG and co make travel plans with the local bus company to get to another minor bowl to play another minor opponent!!! Unless they get the fundamentals down and teach aggressive attack schemes with assignment specific football...its easy.....know the fundamentals, each person do their specific job in an attack aggressive punishing manner as part of the big picture ie TEAM not ME.....thats how you win at a 97% click and dominate your peers....thats the only way we see it here.....

Well put NigerianCane, I like your posts and know you are a fine man; I would rather keep my opinions to myself than to make others feel bad uncomfortable or mad!!! I have let a few slip and I always am willing to apologize and admit my errors.
That being said, I am like you. I don't back off nothing....thats how we play football!!! I have learned over time not to blunder and crash into others by espousing things not well thought out; I can converse football forever and know my game.....the politics are not always right or wrong but rather opinions that can go many different directions. Have a great day I going to get my boys ready for another big year....all my respect to you NigerianCane....VAC

TS & VA Cane voted. While we have been on this political discourse and fever pitch over spring practice, how many others have voted for
Alex Johnson
Again:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Alex Johnson is one of the most accomplished student-athletes in University of Miami volleyball history.
But Johnson’s long list of accolades continued to grow earlier this month when she was named one of 19 nominees for the 2013 James E. Sullivan Award, which honors the nation's outstanding amateur athlete.
you can vote for Alex at the following link.

Amidst all this talk of politics, I might as well add a history lesson
The History of the Middle Finger:
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting inthe future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew'(or 'pluck yew').
Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and they began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew!
Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird.'
And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing.
Although 'labiodental' is an actual word in used phonetics, it sounds like something I'd rather perform than write.

Great practice.....hell my 13 year olds are sharp....we went 2.5 hours and look very focused very fast very hard already....we are building our anger, aggression, and hatred for our opponents somebody better be wary!!!! We have accomplished more in 7 years 5 of 7 titles than UM has in 30 years.....dont talk to me about comparisons baby.....we are poised to do it again.....it is unreal what my kids retain and remember about what it takes.....TO WIN!!!
The kids at UM spring practice while older bigger faster stronger.....not by much....have not got a clue as to what it takes to be champions .....poor coaching preparation fundamentals dedication.... amazing my kids football knowledge retention preparation dedication and commitment to winning and punishing people.....so far ahead of AG and staff......must be the coaching.....we are all equal out here there is no favorite or partiality re: coaches or players....its all about hitting hurting and winning.....I am in mid season form...so are my kids...that what our advantage is....AG and Canes want someone to give it to them....VA Cane and Panthers we take it from you....we rob your soul and crush your body and psyche...we beat your AZZ every way possible.....and never say a friggin word!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | March 22, 2014 at 04:52 PM
Kepp logging those 40 times, stars, AS games and swag.....dont get you a damn thing but a 9-4 smoke and mirror filled season and a loss to a basketball school...........yeaa that something. I want more than that.....I want to run the table 12 in the season then 2 playoff games.....not against patsies and Div 3 smallfrys....against the best you can put in front of me.....

Ryan Williams said after Thursday’s practice that he had received all the first-team reps through five days of spring ball. That changed Saturday, with Kevin Olsen working with the starters on one possession early in the day. He led the offense in a two-minute drive, culminating in a TD pass to Herb Waters. He then resumed working with the backups for the rest of practice.
“We're going to mix him in a little bit,” Al Golden said. “We gave him the two-minute today and didn't tell him. We wanted him to just keep his poise and try to assess the situation. He had no timeouts, needed a touchdown. I thought he did a good job. We were up against it there on fourth-and-eight and he came through and made a play, which was good."
Golden mentioned that Olsen's approach is "drastically different" from last season. How so? "His maturity, his energy, getting ready to play," Golden said.
Golden said Thursday that Ryan Williams remains ahead in the quarterback competition. Coaches and players have praised his maturity, improved arm strength, accuracy (which has been off at times this spring), knowledge of the offense and ability to make pre-snap adjustments. Williams threw a 35-yard TD pass to D’Mauri Jones on Saturday.
### Among those eliciting praise from Golden on Saturday: freshman cornerback Ryan Mayes (“he’s done a great job; as smart as can be; long”); safety Jamal Carter “light years” ahead of last year in regard to “maturity, preparation” and is a “physical, explosive player”); linebacker Thurston Armbrister (“playing well and fast”); linebacker Raphael Kirby; ends/outside linebackers Tyriq McCord and Al-Quadin Muhammad (“growing up right now”); and Dallas Crawford (adjusting to safety and “done a lot in a very short period of time.”)
### McCord and Muhammad have been competing at one end spot on first and second down, but both are being used together on third down. "We're not afraid to put Chick (Anthony Chickillo) inside and get him in a one-on-one matchup against a guard, (Ufomba) Kamalu is doing well in that instance as well," Golden said. "We're going to find the best grouping."
### Injured Olsen Pierre is expected to resume practicing next week.

Yeah, I'm usually all for poetic license, hyperbole, etc. But the plane thing was a touch drastic... I don't mean to speak for VAC but I find it hard to believe he actually wishes the plane reached Capitol Hill and all the politicians had died. I think he is simply making the point had the entity of the govt gone poof, we would be no worse and likely better off. (I hope...)

I am glad to hear good reports on defenders and on Olsen....these are big areas we need to show improvement....I do not think I can watch another UM game and witness the worst defense I have ever seen.....it was very painful.....they were awful to say the least

Huh, I was gonna post something similar in the "Chick debate" from last blog. IMO, I think Chick is a better matchup against Guards & Tackles, than TEs. TRUE TEs are usually the most athletic & best blockers on the O-Line, so why not exploit a mismatch against a Guard or Tackle.
Posted by: CaneRock | March 22, 2014 at 05:50 PM
I think it is good to get Olsen in the mix....what if Williams gets hurt...or is ineffective.....last year is a prime example Morris started out good...but the ankle really was a problem....and he became ineffective....and you had nobody to put in to QB....he ended the season poorly.....unprepared to say the least....poor coaching poor preparation.....I have 2 well prepared QBs and I run both during the game......just to throw confusion in there....and I have a backup and an emergency QB to run the basics....the Boy Scouts say be prepared....We are....glad to see UM preparing
Posted by: VA Cane | March 22, 2014 at 05:53 PM
UMike no problem with you intervention....we need to stick to football and all sports UM.....politics involve too much emotion they dont matter anyway cause nobody up there really listens or cares
Posted by: VA Cane | March 22, 2014 at 05:54 PM
Well Chik needs to be in the mix we need 8 good DL people getting in the game.....we get too tired in 4Q get him in mathchups he can win and exploit.....and coach him on some technique. We are horrible D coaches.....they must all be amputees......cause we never use our hands ever...line LBs or DBs.....we just push....lean on the OL....we play 30s football no busting a receivers ass......and even our LBS are poor with hand use.....I am not a fan of Barrow at all....good player in the day....AZZ as a person must think hes done it all....NOT.....boy our LB play is awful..... such poor tacklers, so fart of the ball, cannot cover anyone especially TEs.....just bad coaching
Posted by: VA Cane | March 22, 2014 at 06:01 PM
so far off the ball.... my bust.....Barrow is my least fav coach, never liked him as a person....asked him for a sig once in Bburg....pushed my hand away...Gino, Sappy, Thomas, Copeland all were great, glasd rto sign they were only winning by 30 or so starters out....Gino hurt his wrist and still signed...was laughing joking.....Butt Head Barrow was an ASS....still is an Ass.....very weeak position coach for a guy who was good....need to put him in recruiting only cause his LBs are pitiful tacklers and cover guys...you know it too.....
