In their final regular season game at the BankUnited Center, Garrius Adams scored a career high 22 points and Rion Brown added 19 to lift the Canes to a 69-56 win against visiting Wake Forest. Adams shot 6 of 8 from the field and 9 of 9 from the free-throw line as the Hurricanes never trailed after a 14-0 run midway through the first half.
Miami also withstood a Deacons' rally to end the first half. Miami (16-15, 7-11 Atlantic Coast Conference) expanded a six-point lead at halftime and outscored Wake Forest 12-2 in the first 6:57 of the second half. Rion Brown's jumper with 13:03 remaining pushed the Hurricanes' lead to 41-25. Erik Swoope was Miami's third double-digit scorer with 11 points.
The win moved Miami past Wake Forest (16-15, 6-12) for a 10th place finish in the conference regular season standings. Miami will now turn their attention to the ACC Tournament on March 12. The Canes enter the tournament as the defending champions, beating North Carolina 87-77 in last year's final in Greensboro. Miami, fueled by senior leaders Rion Brown & Garrius Adams, will play Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Virginia Tech.
Noteworthy Since his arrival in 2011, Jim Larrañaga has recorded three of the top four win totals in ACC play in Miami history (15-3, 9-7, 7-11). Miami’s previous ACC high was eight wins in 2007-08. Miami finished the season 3-0 at home in ACC play after starting the year 0-6 in league games. The Canes finished the regular season shooting 50 percent or better in their last three games. Starters: Justin Heller, Garrius Adams, Rion Brown, Erik Swoope, Raphael Akpejiori.
Justin Heller made his first career start Saturday, joining four other seniors on Senior Day. Miami’s first points came on a Garrius Adams put back at the 17:45 mark. Garrius Adams scored an ACC- and career-high 22 points, breaking his previous ACC (16 vs. NC State 3/1/14) and career (20 vs. UCF 11/21/13) bests. Rion Brown has made a 3-pointer in 27-of-31 games this year and has registered two-or-more threes in 16 games this year.
Rion Brown scored in double-figures (19) for the 13th straight game and 25th time this season. Tonye Jekiri’s nine rebounds pushed his season total to 159, triple what he had in 2012-13. The sophomore has recorded five or more rebounds in 15 games this year. Erik Swoope’s 10 points extended his streak of scoring in double figures to five games, the longest of his career. Manu Lecomte recorded one three against Wake Forest, and has now hit a three in 15 games this year. The freshman finished the regular season shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc.
Manu Lecomte finishes the regular season averaging 7.9 points per game, the highest total by a freshman since Durand Scott averaged 10.3 in 2009-10. Manu Lecomte recorded a career high three steals. Lecomte has recorded two steals four times this year, last at Clemson on 3/4/14. Nine of Miami’s 12 players have registered at least seven starts. Garrius Adams is the only Cane to start every game (31).
Update the Record Book | Garrius Adams and Rion Brown are enjoying the fruits of their labor, building on their personal season highs. Garrius Adams Games Started: 31 Minutes: 1036 Points: 323 Assists: 89 Rebounds: 147 Rion Brown Games Started: 30 Minutes: 1091 Points: 476 Assists: 71 Rebounds: 184
Saying facilities haven't hurt us in recruiting is ludicrous.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 10, 2014 at 09:19 PM
Doesn't this imply we lose/lost out on recruits because of our facilities?
Posted by: UMike | March 11, 2014 at 01:47 PM
Where does it say top tiered recruits aren't coming here?
What I stated is an absolute, irrefutable fact. Historically having inferior favorites has hurt us.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 01:53 PM
No it's given us yet another obstacle to overcome.
I've never said we can no longer compete or get players.
Ignoring the obvious is just living in the past.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 01:56 PM
Go Canes... there you go again.. you start out saying one thing, and then try to change it up when you get called out. You CLEARLY said our facilities hurt us in recruiting, but now you're trying to say you didnt say "top tier" recruits to save face. And NO... i NO WAY is what you said an "irrefutable fact".. are you kidding? Miami has produced 5 titles, the greatest team in college football history and some of the greatest players ever in both college and the NFL, all while having piss poor facilities... so how in the hell is that an irrefutable fact???
See Go Canes.. I am ok with you being a homer and all, and a Golden fan, that is great... Ohio is a bit of a homer and he is my dude... my problem with you is that yet again you start out saying something, and then change your tone when called out.
Posted by: UMike | March 11, 2014 at 02:00 PM
Now why am I being thrown into this? I'm not even participating in this ridiculous argument lol
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | March 11, 2014 at 02:07 PM
UMike do you think the money, the facilities, the stakes, the intensity and scrutiny of recruiting, the pressure on programs to win and the necessity to "wow" recruits over the last decade has increased much?
Are you guys seriously comparing 1983, 1993 or even 2001 to the way things are today in college football?
Think recruits don't leave these 5 star resort programs completely and totally blown away??
Is that not something that we have to overcome big time??
Come on!!!
I just agreed with you our history helps us dramatically and local talent loving the U is huge, but to say we haven't been at a disadvantage because of our stadium issue is ridiculous!
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 02:09 PM
1. Not getting kids because the Defensive Coach Stinks and the kids that we want play in better defensive schemes in HS.
2. Not getting kids because Other Schools Pay HEFTY for kids services Miami is not able to do tht as we just got off probation not gonna say if we did or didn't this in the past I have no idea but it's real in these streets and the $EC knows how to pay..
3. Not getting kids we want because we are log jammed at certain positions of fame...ie. you can only have 1 QB but we are stockpiling the position and only 2 of the stockpile are going to play 2...the others are gonna be career sit guys..
4. Not getting kids because athletes are dumb in class its the truth...they do minimal school work and look for riches once out...Miami doesn't reward stupidity, its a private school and much more is expected of the kids so of those I don't see stadium but I mean I can be wrong...

All I've said is our inferior situation has been a negative we've had to overcome, and it's only getting tougher.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 01:33 PM
"Only getting tougher"? Maybe for you, you just LOOOOOOOOOVE! manufacturing "clouds"...don't you?
Historically having inferior favorites has hurt us.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 01:53 PM
On this WE AGREE!...Al Golden is YOUR! "inferior favorite", and yes I agree..."He's HURTING US"!
No it's given us yet another obstacle to overcome.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 11, 2014 at 01:56 PM
NO!, it just gives YOU! more obstacles to produce MORE "CLOUDS"!...and MORE "CLOUDS"!...and MORE "CLOUDS"!
Posted by: CaneRock | March 11, 2014 at 02:26 PM
The most overhyped thing ever is South Beach, people brag about it to death but unless U are rolling in money It's pretty much useless. IJS. I aint got time to pay 20 dollars for a freaking burger combo. Now sell the kids on the campus and Coral Gables and playing and living in South Florida. But see this is where we as fans screw up we are thinking from a standpoint of being in our 30's 40's 50's etc, instead of the 18 year old baller trust me if U are going to some of these state schools say UF,FSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, etc, these schools have twice to triple he amount of coeds and U are a big deal and old state U, this is not a new phenonmenon been going on forever. I love my Canes with a passion and want them to win all the time and champonships. Winning cures most things. Go Canes!
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | March 11, 2014 at 02:33 PM
Ohio... I just wanted to toss you in for the hell of it lol
Posted by: UMike | March 11, 2014 at 02:40 PM
Terrance, I feel ya' BUT!, in those schools that you mentioned, take away the Universities...and what do you have?
Gainesville & Tallahassee would be ghost towns, if it wasn't for UF & FSU.
Take away UM, and Miami, would still be Miami.

-----------------------------------------------I like to park near 7th street garage in SB, walk over to Wet Willies, sit at the top deck, have a large "triple play", and people watch, and by people watch, I mean looking at the talent walk by in their "beach-ware".
Posted by: 30CINCO | March 11, 2014 at 02:44 PM
Go Canes, I said Im sure we lose some (very few though) recruits because of our facilities, but it is something we will NEVER overcome, we will never be able to compete with any of the schools you mentioned, wont happen. But dont say its hurting us in recruiting and then turn around and try to say you didnt say it.
I will give you this... big time facilities may attract more kids these days with fancy video game rooms and what not, but the top local talent we are losing we arent losing because our facilities or stadium. Take Oregon for example, they had bad ass uniforms, great facilities etc, but if they weren't winning no one would give a shyt... its freaking Oregon!!! lol... And just to be clear, of the teams you mentioned only 2 are perennial contenders (Bama & Oregon), Baylor, A&M, Okie State might contend for their conference titles, but not national titles. Baylor went 8-5 in 2012 & 7-6 in 2010, they had a great year in 2011 thanks to RG3.. they arent perennial contenders... Okie State went 8-5 in 2012 etc etc etc...
We have to WIN...not improve out facilities or build an on-campus stadium... we have to WIN... dont lose to Duke, or UVA, or NC State and dont get blown out 3 weeks in a row in TV, dont get blown out on national tv in your bowl game...fire the DC... fix those things and recruits will come no matter the stadium.

I will never forget when I came down for the OSU game.. one of my good friends here in TN is a big OSU fan... he is the youth leader at my Church and a pretty religious guy. So he tells me, "Mike, this is your town buddy, we can do whatever you want, but if im in Miami, I would love to see South Beach.".. so we go and walk the strip for a bit... well we both go to the restroom right there on the beach, after washing our hands we walk out and maybe 10 feet in front of us is a chick in a g-string bent over... we both just stopped in our tracks... he just smiles at me lol.. but the look on his face was priceless

Yo, this really made me LMAO!
For optimal position, you have to have your back towards the sun. You can't be facing the sun because the glare will highlight your eyes and you will be discovered. You gotta master the "turn head one way, while eye-balls go the other". Another trick is to point out something crazy that is in the same direction as the "talent". That way you be can be like "look at that crazy guy hun".
Posted by: 30CINCO | March 11, 2014 at 03:19 PM
I just do the whole look the other way and catch them on the way back... but the dam movie "Hall Pass" gave away that secret lol

This is simply disgusting...
George Zimmerman was all smiles this past weekend at a gun show in Orlando, Florida, where he made an appearance as a "special guest," signed autographs and took pictures with fans.
Organizers said they had to move their event to a new location after their original event space canceled on them over their controversial guest choice.

I am trying to get something down with one of the LQs nearby in Plantation as the Hampton is shaky and the new hotel where Susan is at is $$$.
