In their final regular season game at the BankUnited Center, Garrius Adams scored a career high 22 points and Rion Brown added 19 to lift the Canes to a 69-56 win against visiting Wake Forest. Adams shot 6 of 8 from the field and 9 of 9 from the free-throw line as the Hurricanes never trailed after a 14-0 run midway through the first half.
Miami also withstood a Deacons' rally to end the first half. Miami (16-15, 7-11 Atlantic Coast Conference) expanded a six-point lead at halftime and outscored Wake Forest 12-2 in the first 6:57 of the second half. Rion Brown's jumper with 13:03 remaining pushed the Hurricanes' lead to 41-25. Erik Swoope was Miami's third double-digit scorer with 11 points.
The win moved Miami past Wake Forest (16-15, 6-12) for a 10th place finish in the conference regular season standings. Miami will now turn their attention to the ACC Tournament on March 12. The Canes enter the tournament as the defending champions, beating North Carolina 87-77 in last year's final in Greensboro. Miami, fueled by senior leaders Rion Brown & Garrius Adams, will play Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Virginia Tech.
Noteworthy Since his arrival in 2011, Jim Larrañaga has recorded three of the top four win totals in ACC play in Miami history (15-3, 9-7, 7-11). Miami’s previous ACC high was eight wins in 2007-08. Miami finished the season 3-0 at home in ACC play after starting the year 0-6 in league games. The Canes finished the regular season shooting 50 percent or better in their last three games. Starters: Justin Heller, Garrius Adams, Rion Brown, Erik Swoope, Raphael Akpejiori.
Justin Heller made his first career start Saturday, joining four other seniors on Senior Day. Miami’s first points came on a Garrius Adams put back at the 17:45 mark. Garrius Adams scored an ACC- and career-high 22 points, breaking his previous ACC (16 vs. NC State 3/1/14) and career (20 vs. UCF 11/21/13) bests. Rion Brown has made a 3-pointer in 27-of-31 games this year and has registered two-or-more threes in 16 games this year.
Rion Brown scored in double-figures (19) for the 13th straight game and 25th time this season. Tonye Jekiri’s nine rebounds pushed his season total to 159, triple what he had in 2012-13. The sophomore has recorded five or more rebounds in 15 games this year. Erik Swoope’s 10 points extended his streak of scoring in double figures to five games, the longest of his career. Manu Lecomte recorded one three against Wake Forest, and has now hit a three in 15 games this year. The freshman finished the regular season shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc.
Manu Lecomte finishes the regular season averaging 7.9 points per game, the highest total by a freshman since Durand Scott averaged 10.3 in 2009-10. Manu Lecomte recorded a career high three steals. Lecomte has recorded two steals four times this year, last at Clemson on 3/4/14. Nine of Miami’s 12 players have registered at least seven starts. Garrius Adams is the only Cane to start every game (31).
Update the Record Book | Garrius Adams and Rion Brown are enjoying the fruits of their labor, building on their personal season highs. Garrius Adams Games Started: 31 Minutes: 1036 Points: 323 Assists: 89 Rebounds: 147 Rion Brown Games Started: 30 Minutes: 1091 Points: 476 Assists: 71 Rebounds: 184

I think I am catching the subtleties of what you are trying to imply. But; just to make sure, are you not a fan of the defensive scheme being used?

Smart man lol.... Im not a fan of giving up career days to average players lol

I can think of a few other towns that need to be "extinct"!:
"Hampton cops were a fixture out on U.S. 301. They sat on lawn chairs, pointing radar guns at unsuspecting motorists. They hid behind recycling bins. As more and more money came in, they idled in slick SUVs, trolled the median strips in riot gear and toted state-of-the-art firepower. Locals gave one the nickname "Rambo" because he slung an AR-15 rifle across his chest."

Those uniforms are a joke. They even got The U backwards on the helmet. Those won't be the new unis.

Barry Jackson:
### UM is adding Green Cove Spring (Fla.) Clay High offensive lineman Tyler Grimsley as a late addition to this recruiting class, according to CaneSport.com. Grimsley, who visited UM last weekend, will be on scholarship at UM and eligible to play this upcoming season.
Grimsley didn’t have a qualifying test score until after National Signing Day. A two-star prospect, Grimsley also had reported offers from UAB and Weber State.
"Nobody knew who he was," his offensive line coach, Frank Garis, told Canesport. "But he has rare explosive quickness combined with man strength. He's a big kid, is a big-time weightlifter for us, can medal in the heavyweight class for us this year…. He played predominantly guard for us. The year previous he also played a couple of games at tackle. Miami is taking him as a center until he adds more weight to play guard."
### Tenth-seed UM (16-15) will play 16th-seed Virginia Tech (9-21) in the ACC Tournament at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the winner meeting seventh-seed North Carolina State (19-12) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Stadium redo really helps us.
Still not close to home but a state of the art facility will impress any recruit.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 10, 2014 at 07:06 PM
LOL Go Canes! Acting Like the Stadium is in Port St. Lucie or something its still located in Miami in the 305 but Miami people crack me up acting like the stadium is 100 miles away. But its a win win for everyone from the team to us fans, etc.

Grimsley is legit. Was overlooked by most schools. I think he could be a real good one, honestly.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | March 10, 2014 at 07:48 PM
Grimsley is 6'3 267lbs. Hope he pans out considering we have limited schollys.

Good size for a center coming in. Anyone have tape on the kid?
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | March 10, 2014 at 08:30 PM
His weightlifting numbers were good as a junior. I believe it was a 310 bench and 260 jerk. His weight was 238 at the time. Sorry no link.

It's not 100 miles from campus but it has been a huge disadvantage for us when compared to schools who have 80-100,000k stadiums right on or near campus.
Posted by: Go Canes | March 10, 2014 at 08:42 PM
Go Canes ....are there any private institutions that currently have an "on campus" stadium that seats 80k? I'm curious...

After that, Tulane plays at the Superdome which is really close to campus.

USC is a private school with a 93,000 seat stadium within the campus area.
Posted by: The Dude | March 10, 2014 at 09:14 PM
Results:
USC with a 93,607 seat stadium.
Notre Dame with a 80,795 seat stadium.
Tulane with a 76,468 seat stadium.
Compared to Miami with a 75,540 seat stadium 27 minutes off campus.
Posted by: The Dude | March 10, 2014 at 09:18 PM
Being a private institution has nothing to do with the disadvantage we have had because of where our stadium is.
We are competing with programs like Alabama, LSU, FSU and UF for recruits. All of those program have massive, top of the line on campus stadiums and the best facilities available.
Saying facilities haven't hurt us in recruiting is ludicrous.

Rice has a 70,000 seat stadium located on campus and they are private... who knew?

Wasted scholly... kids needs to be a walk-on. UAB & Weber State???? A big reach imo.. hope I am wrong cause we could use the ship, but seems like an awfully big reach to me

Stadium size doesn't equal wins.
1. Michigan
2. Penn State
3. Tennessee
4. Ohio State
5. Alabama
6. Texas
7. UCLA
8. USC
9. Georgia
10. LSU

You know what else hurts recruiting? When a head coach flirts with another school during the most important time for recruiting.

I was surprised to see that Syracuse's dome held under 50,000. That place was loud when McNabb played. Imagine a facility like that near campus.
Posted by: NY Trooper | March 10, 2014 at 09:45 PM
Whatever.
Another intelligent conversation about something positive happening to our program turns into a way to bash our coach or something that makes no sense by Canerock.
Status quo.
This place doesn't have negative Nancys it;s got negative Nazis.
You guys enjoy yourselves.

I wonder if having one of, if not the worst defensive schemes in the history of the school has hurt recruiting?
Posted by: The Dude | March 10, 2014 at 09:54 PM
Oregon has the BEST facilities PERIOD!! How's that working out 4 them?
Posted by: 4-Real | March 10, 2014 at 09:55 PM
Posted by: 4-Real | March 10, 2014 at 09:55 PM
Really freakin well! That program is one of the elite Western programs right now. They are recruiting much better than they have in their history.
Posted by: The Dude | March 10, 2014 at 09:57 PM
I agree that having a state of the art on campus stadium could help. But you can sell it either way in the end. What really matters is WINNING and putting kids in the NFL. Do those two things and you are Nick Saban's Alabama or Pete Carroll's USC.

Irrelevant to what you asked. Their facilities have helped put them in the hunt, that much really cant be questioned, which is far greater than where they have been historically. Oregon is now a contender every year, which is more than Miami can say right now.

I'm not understanding your argument... I thought the question was how has Oregon's facilities helped them in recruiting and how has that recruiting helped them win? I say its helped a lot. They are now a premier school out West and in the hunt every year. What are we even debating here? I'm not defending Golden or his staff here. I've expressed several times how unimpressed I am with what's on the field.
