No need to crash on Debose, his boy Armstrong didn't do anything either. Two 5 star crash and burns.
Speaking on the baseball team, this has got to be a joke. Why they are still in the top 25 is beyond me. Morris and his micro ball have got to go. I've never seen a dam coach love to waste an out bunting like this dude does. I can understand, if you're in a pitchers duel and your are trying to scratch a run across but he's bunting runners over to third in the first inning and what does it say when you have Thompson bunting, as he did early in the season. The bullpen sucks and pitching was supposed to be somewhat of a strong suit.
I saw where they're already dumping on Calvin Hertalou and now it's on to those other 3 heroes we have coming in a DT, to rescue that position. You have to figure when you bring a Jucco in, it's going to take him a year to get use to the speed and quality of players, he will be going up against and then poof he's gone.

VfB_Cane

Isn't it sad when it seems like Teddy Bridgewater is doing better when our D is on the field?

I know I will join the dark side as soon as the first quarterback not named Winston has a Heisman day against us.

VA Cane

Debose what a joke.....never has showed up to be the All American everyone thought he was...he will be working at McDs soon .

Never cared for Irsay....ever hear him talk? ever other word is um er oh.....I cannot stand to her that guy stammer and stutter....hell Lester Hayes had a speech impediment....Irsay has a problem too...drinking and pills....I say no mercy for the guy don't give a damn how much $ he has. He needs a suspended permit for a year, the in dash sensor for a year and 30 days in the can....he can do them on weekends when the Colts play.....he deserves no more or less than you or I would get....who's beetting all the shit will be dropped....I am no justice in Amerika at least for real people

Carmello is an idiot. I was a Knicks fan from the 60s.....they have been such a joke with all the idiots they have had playing...hell Ewing was the only guy who really wanted to win....Mello aint shit...he thinks hes a machine an instant HOFamer he is not even close....hes garbage on and off the court....loser

From our Good Friends @ ESPN-

1. Coastal Division coaches: Virginia coach Mike London is trying to reverse a 2-10 season, while his rival, Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, is feeling some heat after winning eight games last season. Many Georgia Tech fans have grown weary of coach Paul Johnson, and Miami coach Al Golden knows that even a nine-win season doesn’t cut it in Coral Gables. The entire division yielded criticism last year for its mediocrity, but with a little luck -- and a few good quarterbacks -- that could change.

3. Miami defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio: His defense is looking for a pot of gold, but Miami fans can’t even find the rainbow. D’Onofrio has unofficially replaced former Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring as the coordinator fans love to hate. In eight conference games, Miami managed 12 sacks and ranked last in total defense, No. 12 in scoring defense and No. 13 in rushing defense. The Hurricanes were statistically worse in scoring defense and rushing defense in ACC play in 2013 and only had three more sacks than a year ago. Mark, “May the road rise up to meet you / May the wind always be at your back / May your defense find the quarterbacks / and remember how to get a sack.”

Yeah, Maybe Mike Barrow could show him the hit he laid on his cousing back in the day? That should score some points with him ya think? LOL

Posted by: SOUP | March 17, 2014 at 05:13 PM

YUP! I was thinking the same exact thing as I was typing that! LMAO!

VA Cane

I'm just not in favor of beating a dead horse a million times over and I also believe that there is always hope and that it's possible that the natural talent deficit on the d side of the ball has had an impact. Now whether the defensive philosophy and the DC will improve remains to be seen, but there is a lot less room for error and major improvements need to be seen over the next year or two, or there will probably be major changes made in coaching personnel.

Very well stated Lurker; I agree. We all do get a little crazy....but I do not think it is hate; we all want to WIN....I think thats what teh game is about. However, with great reapect to your well worded post, I will try to be more respectful. Week put friend.

Wish I could have been there. Tennis is a great sport.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I can see SOUP and TSully with Stephanie and its like Who's on first...

Terrance Sullivan

Yes Stephanie Wagner and Clementina Riobueno were super cool, and Soup is correct I was trying to explain the game of baseball to Stephanie from Germany and Clementina from Venezuela. I promised the ladies that I would go and watch one of their tennis matches. Either when they play FSU on April 11th or since they are playing so well my guess is they will be in the national tournament again and I can either see them play either at home or crossing my fingers the national finals in Athens Georgia in late May. Oh yea and we all witnessed our Canes beat the Gators butt.

Defending Haith? U gotta be kidding me! Even Mizzou fans aren't doing that anmymore. LOL

Dude on a Pale Horse

I also doubt Johnny's maturity. Brady, Brees, Wilson, Manning all mature QBs. Rogers has his issues with leadership and likes to b!tch and moan to the press, but commands the offense. Even Eli Manning is a mature guy. Manziel has a little Matt Leinart in him, I question what's most important to him. You can't have that out of your QB. He has to be an extension of the coaching staff.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Call me crazy CR, but I don't see it in Teddy. He's skinny and he doesn't throw very hard. I think he's a fantastic CF QB, had a lot of success on bottom feeders and overhyped teams. I love Johnny Manziel's skill but in the NFL he's a walking "Doubtful" on the injury report.

I wonder about that lawsuit O_C. I'm not a lawyer, but the NCAA doesn't seem fair to student athletes that make schools money. However I think the Maurice Clarrett lawsuit was similar except he sued the NFL. Can the NFL help the NCAA as to secure their gravy train?

The NCAA-Killing Lawsuit Might Finally Be Here:

"Sports labor attorney Jeffrey Kessler has filed suit against the NCAA and five power conferences, alleging that capping player compensation at the cost of a scholarship is an antitrust violation. Unlike previous suits, this one does not seek damages. It wants to tear down the NCAA. "We're looking to change the system," Kessler said. "That's the main goal."

Florida receiver Andre Debose was thrown through a window during a fight in Gainesville on Saturday night that resulted in another man being arrested.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Debose and three others were eating when he and one of the other men, Victor Watkins, got into an argument and Watkins threw Debose into a window, which shattered. Another man, John Mark Honeycutt, reportedly became angry and ultimately fired a rifle toward Watkins' SUV and yard.

Honeycutt was arrested on an aggravated assault charge, but Debose and the others were interviewed and released.

Initial reports stated Debose had allegedly been the one who threw someone through a window, but that was the result of an error on the incident summary released to the media by the Gainesville Police Department, which apologized to Debose through its Facebook page for the error.

Debose was recently granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. He also missed his freshman year in 2009 after having surgery on a hamstring injury.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts owner Jim Irsay faces four felony counts after being arrested late Sunday night on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated.

Irsay was arrested in the northern Indianapolis suburb of Carmel, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. His bond was set at $22,500.

"During the course of the investigation, Irsay subsequently failed several roadside field sobriety tests," Carmel police Lt. Joe Bickel said in a release.

While searching Irsay's vehicle, "multiple prescription drugs were discovered in pill bottles. These Schedule IV prescription drugs were not associated with any prescription bottles found in the vehicle," according to police.

The Colts released a statement late Monday morning.

"We are gathering information at this time regarding last night's incident involving Jim Irsay," the statement said. "The team will issue additional statements when the facts are sorted and we are aware of the next steps to this process. Many fans have reached out to express their concern and we appreciate their support."

Irsay, who frequently interacts with fans on Twitter, wrote in an October tweet that, "I don't drink...haven't in over 15 years."

By my count, with David Perry's possible defection, Gray's grades/and or test scores still in limbo, and maybe another defection or 2 in the Spring or Summer, that opens up 3-4 spots, doesn't it? And who knows, maybe we're still negotiatin with the NCAA on those schollie reductions...

Yea... it was in Ariz's "The Work".... even if they have a spot for Irvin, you still offer Hoggins. This is where using spots for project players can hurt you. Besides, Im not a huge fan of assuming one playing will A, commit, and B, be a good player.

I read where Ariz said if we offered Hoggins it would get SBB and Ridley to commit. We SHOULD, but he's saying it's likely we won't because that's Tim Irvin's spot.

The trend of basketball players moving over to the gridiron continues to gain traction. Just last year at this time, a little-known recruit named Demetrius Jackson had decided to give football a try. In less than a year, Jackson blossomed into one of the top prospects in the country and became a consensus 4-star recruit who is on his way to Miami.

One of the major reasons Jackson was able to progress so quickly was because of the help of his coaches at Booker T. Washington. The same program that molded Jackson has taken on another project, Ronique Robinson. Robinson (2015) is a 6-7, 240-pound defensive end who recently transferred from La Salle, where he focused almost exclusively on basketball.

“Last year was my first year playing in high school. I had played little league, but then in like 6th grade I got too big so I just switched to basketball,” Robinson explained.

Robinson said that the football coaches at La Salle encouraged him to take up football, so he did so. He explained his move to Booker T.

“It was my home school plus I was tired of losing. I am committed to football now,” said Robinson. “As soon as I got to Booker T, coaches have been coming and seeing my size and are immediately interested. It feels good knowing that being at a different school can give me more opportunities.”

Due to his size and athleticism, Robinson has some versatility on the field.

“I can stand up or play D-End. I will probably play both defensive end and a little bit of goal-line tight end too.”

Robinson is sure to have multiple offers as spring football carries on, but for now there is a select group who has reached out.

“I know Miami is very interested and so is Florida State and Minnesota. It’s all a surprise to me because when I was at La Salle, this wasn’t happening at all.”

I spoke to Booker T. Washington Head Coach, Tim Harris, Jr. about his team’s newest toy.

“He has that look, but we just need to get the dog out of him,” said Harris, Jr. “Demetrius looked the same way last year.”

Robinson also listed Oregon, Alabama, and UF as schools he is interested in.

UMike

Ariz...

**This edition of The Work will center around today’s Nike Football Training Combine, which is arguably the top event of its kind in the country.

Position MVPs
QB – Maurice Alexander (2015 Booker T. Washington)
RB – Zander Bernard (2015 Park Vista)
WR – Da’Vante Phillips (2015 Central)
OL – Christian Strachan (2015 Chaminade)
DL – Jarred McGahee (2015 Coral Gables)
LB – Tevon Coney (Palm Beach Gardens 2015)
DB – Tyrek Cole (Miramar 2015)
SPARQ MVP – Robert Burns (2017 Gulliver)

**It’s a shame that Brandon Boyce is only about 5-10 because if he was 3 inches taller he would have offers from every school in the country. Anyone who watched a University School game over the past two years would tell you that Boyce was in the backfield on nearly every play and is just an extremely disruptive force at defensive tackle. Now at St. Thomas Aquinas, Boyce continued to show his explosive ability today in OL-DL drills where he was unblockable. There was a stretch of three plays in a row where he abused Miami commit Leeward Brown. Boyce is currently committed to Duke.

**Another defensive tackle who caught my eye was Coral Gables’ Jarred McGahee, who won MVP for his position on the day. McGahee is a 2015 kid who recently transferred to Gables from Northwestern and has been a relative unknown up to this point. I expect that to change. McGahee has a quick first step and has a hunter’s mentality at the position. Here are McGahee’s junior season highlights - http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2688518/jarred-mcgahee

**Christian Strachan continues to make the strides that many had hoped he would in this offseason, as he won MVP for his position today and looked very impressive doing so. Strachan is headed to Miramar for his senior year, so the rich get richer. That should be a fun line to watch with Strachan and Leeward Brown on the inside. I would be very surprised if Strachan does not have a Miami offer by the end of spring.

**I already wrote a story on 2015 BTW DE Ronique Robinson today, which you can read here - http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/...ited-potential - but I would like to give some more thoughts about him here. Miami knows about Robinson and has already offered him. This would be a kid where the Ice Harris addition helps with just because he already got a look at him and could tip the Miami staff off to him early. He wouldn’t have an offer if Ice didn’t think he was a legitimate prospect. Robinson ran a very respectable 4.8 and had a 28-inch vertical today at the combine at 6-7, 235. For as freaky as Demetrius Jackson’s frame is, Robinson might top that. I need to see a lot more of him in pads and even just on the field before he can be dubbed the next Demetrius, but he passing the eye test with flying colors. The Booker T coaching staff has shown once that they can get the most out of a talent like this, so I have high hopes they can do it again.

**2016 Champagnat Catholic OL Chiki Valentine has a world of untapped potential. Valentine is a kid who was at Champagnat last year, but did not play because it was his first year in the United States from Africa. Champagnat brought Valentine in under the same program as current Miami basketball player Tonye Jekiri a few years back. He got beat a couple times, but showed flashes of just brutally dominating people. Once he is able to harness his aggression and play with better balance, you are looking at a 4-star type prospect.

**One of the most impressive prospects today in my eyes was 2016 Naples CB Tyler Byrd. He is a “freak” corner in every sense of the word. Long arms, great speed, attitude, and size.

**2016 Gulliver Prep WR Dionte Mullins continues to put on shows in these camp/7-on-7 settings. I want to see him perform more in pads before putting him in the same category of football players as Ridley and Phillips, but he has the same type of talent as those two.

**I spoke with Hallandale LB Sh’mar Kilby-Lane and he has limited interested in Miami at this point and to say it is “limited” is being generous. Miami likes Kilby-Lane, but he is a heavy Ohio State lean right now and also has Alabama in the mix. Miami does not seem to have any shot here.

**Tarvarus McFadden was offered by Miami a couple months back and they are still in the picture, but he seemed disappointed that the staff has not been keeping in contact with him much lately. He told me that he is way past any hard feelings about the “late” offer and that Miami shows “major love” when they do talk to him, but he wants that contact to be more frequent.

**I was talking to an individual who is very close to the recruitment of both Shawn Burgess-Becker and Calvin Ridley, who basically told me that everything is up in the air with those two right now. Burgess-Becker legitimately has Alabama on top with Miami still definitely right there with them and Ridley is playing things close to the vest. Don’t expect a decision from either one anytime soon, but there could be a potential wildcard in this equation. Both SBB and Ridley really want to play with CB teammate Ronnie Hoggins at the next level and this person told me that if Miami offered Hoggins, that would go a long way to securing their commitment and they might have committed at their original date if Hoggins had an offer. In my opinion, if offering Hoggins meant landing those two, it is a slam-dunk no-brainer. Hoggins is a very good player in his own right and is a superb slot-corner prospect. I don’t see Miami offering though, because this staff has shown they like size at the defensive back position and Tim Irvin already fills the potential spot that Hoggins could play.

**Mark Walton told me that he is still working hard to reclassify to the 2015 class. He did not go into details about the number of credits he needed, but he said he will be taking classes over the summer and potentially night classes as well in order to try to get this done. Walton said he will know by the beginning of next school year if this is a legitimate possibility. For what it’s worth, I have been told that this scenario is extremely unlikely and that it would take a near miracle. Either way, it is good to know that Walton is at least attempting to make it happen and would most likely be on pace to graduate early in 2016 if he still goes through with putting in the work now. Remember, Walton is naturally a 2015 kid by age.

Damn!....I actually agree with u Lurk.

4-real, I'm frustrated just like everybody else, but the criticism of Golden and his buddy goes overboard many times. But I also do believe that fair criticism on several levels is justified. First of all, they are paid professionals and paid employees of the university, not students working through a scholarship. Therefore, their performance not only can and should be scrutinized, but criticism, some it harsh, should be expected.

I'm just not in favor of beating a dead horse a million times over and I also believe that there is always hope and that it's possible that the natural talent deficit on the d side of the ball has had an impact. Now whether the defensive philosophy and the DC will improve remains to be seen, but there is a lot less room for error and major improvements need to be seen over the next year or two, or there will probably be major changes made in coaching personnel
