The Miami Hurricanes women’s tennis team will be hosting NCAA Regionals at the Schiff Tennis Center for the 10th consecutive year.
The 15th-ranked Hurricanes (19-5) are the 12th overall seed in the tournament and will host Boston University, No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 54 Wichita State in Coral Gables on May 9-10.
Miami will open its 19th consecutive NCAA tournament against the Boston Terriers, who finished the 2013-14 season 14-6 overall and champions of the Patriot League.
The Sooners, who fell to Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship, are 16-6 overall this spring. Wichita State comes to Coral Gables with a 16-6 record and as winners of the Missouri Valley Conference.
First- and second-round competition features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the national tournament in Athens, Georgia, where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 15-20.
Head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews has now reached the NCAA tournament in each of her 13 seasons at the helm of the program in Coral Gables, and has led the Hurricanes to the Sweet Sixteen round eight consecutive years. More impressively, Miami is the only program in the country to have advanced to the Elite Eight round in each of the last five seasons.
This spring, the consistent Hurricanes women's tennis team earned a share of the ACC regular season championship but fell to Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Championships.

They've been turned down on consecutive years and last season didn't even make the final cut.
There is no Super Bowl in the near or relatively distant future for South Florida.
So no, they aren't sniffing one right now.
And I can't see how saying a real college atmosphere is big for recruits is being silly to make a point.

It's not his fault, those crab legs were asking for it.

U are right. I bet they were just dripping in butter and next to cold beer. Yup, they asked for it alright, dressed like that and all.

Oh wow.. we didnt make the cut 2 years in a row lol... how many other stadiums are never even on the list? Miami is always in the running year in and year out. Super Bowls make the rounds, they cant be in Miami every year, but Miami is always in the discussion.

My point, Miami made great runs when the OB was a total dump and had horrible facilities while Sun Life was hosting big time games. We MAY lose out on a guy here and there, but that will never, ever change and has always been. New stadium or not Miami fans will simply NEVER fill it unless its a big time opponent or we are winning big and a top 5 program... and even then its not a given. People just need to get over it already.

Winston arrested for stealing crab legs?
Really?
Posted by: Go Canes | April 30, 2014 at 11:02 AM
I'm not changing my argument. They've already awarded superbowls through 2018. They're on the outside looking in for 2019.
So at this point we are looking at almost a decade without one, with no prospects of getting awarded one in the foreseeable future.

until the big game/series. He'll miss a quarter against FSU weakest opponent in football. Peel back the layers of this onion and there's a rotten inside. He can't even go "starving studednt athlete" on this one, it was crab legs not a bag od pretzels.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) — Florida State’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston reportedly was issued a citation for shoplifting crab legs, but the Tallahassee Police Department has refuted that they issued the citation.
Tomahawk Nation reports Winston was caught shoplifting at a Tallahassee Publix and issued a citation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office will be holding a 2 p.m. press conference.
“He got an adult civil citation,” a Tallahassee police source told Tomahawk Nation. “If he completes the sanctions it will never show up on his record. They commonly give them to juveniles on first criminal offenses. They are now doing it for minor misdemeanors for adults to lower crime rate.”
The Tallahassee Police Department says on Twitter, though, that Winston was not cited by them.
“In response to recent requests: TPD has NOT had any contact with Jameis Winston regarding an alleged recent citation,” the department tweeted.

Let's be real here...the City Of Miami has always treated UM like a stepchild. Since we won our 1st NC...2 basketball arenas, a football stadium, and a baseball park have been built, aaaaand, they're in the process of doing a $500M renovation to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Besides the Marlins, and most recently the Heat, nobody has brought more civic pride, and championships to Miami.

Tennis:
This will be the 10th consecutive year Miami has been chosen to host an NCAA regional.
UM is one of five programs that have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen round eight consecutive years — and the nation’s only team that has advanced to the Elite Eight five consecutive years.
“It seems like with every year the stakes rise,’’ UM coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said by phone after the NCAA released the field. “You always have to back it up. It’s amazing, but I never really sit back and look at the numbers. We take it day by day.
