JCane

For those concerned, the U faces off vs. #2 seed TTU tomorrow night, with TTU taking down Columbia U earlier in the day, 3-2, with a game winning run in the bottom of the 9th to break the tie. The winner of 1 vs. 2 takes bigtime control of the regional, with the team starting with a 2-0 record winning a huge % of 4 team double elimination tnmts.

On a side note, guess who got dominated in a 7-0 shutout today in Tallahassee? Hint: #4 seed Ga Southern was the winner, and the host was the #1 seed. This puts FSU in a precarious position of being a loss away from elimination at home, and having to win 4 in a row. This is the danger of being in the elimination bracket early.

Lurker

Mike Martin looking to add more oxygen to that empty trophy case.

JCane

Also, although still early with 3 innings in the books, the College of Charleston is leading FU, 3-0, in Gainesville. The #2 seed, Long Beach State, downed ACC rep UNC earlier in the day there. The C of C is a pretty good baseball team, and probably the best #4 seed in all of the regionals, but none of that matters. All that matters at this point is who wins and who loses, and FU's #2 national seeding won't matter if they lose. How about a bunch of the #1s go down so that the U has a fighting chance at a superregional hosting, assuming it can escape Coral Gables???

U know I am starting to think that we should hang out sometime? LOL

There's a special kind of hate between Martin and Canes baseball.

Miami Herald Sports ‏@HeraldSports 26m

The Heat has joined the Boston Celtics & Los Angeles Lakers as only franchises to reach four NBA Finals in a row. http://hrld.us/7HECDX

JCane

FWIW, Kennesaw State, the #3 seed in the Tally regional, downed #2 seed Bama today, 1-0, so the winner bracket in Tally tomorrow night includes Ga Southern vs. Kennesaw State. FSU and Bama have a dangerous elimination game coming.

Greg Oden holds the Eastern Conference trophy. Last year it was Birdman, year before it was Cole. Heat just toy with it.

Big 3 is WORKING!!

86Cane

Ohio...it is THAT time, isn't it?

JCane

Nice to see someone else here paying attention to baseball tonight. The FU regional is worth following closely, as with FU the #2 national seed and UM the #15 seed, who do you think would be superregional host for the U should both of these two regionals be won by the hosts.

Also, for those who might think the U's 42 straight years of post-season baseball appearances to be no big deal (followed by 37 for FSU, without any championships for them), pay attention to where last year's national champion, UCLA, is at right now? They're sitting out the post-season with a losing record. It ain't easy!

Also, #3 national seed, UVa, somehow didn't lose much ground in the national seeding after dropping a bomb in the ACC tnmt like the U. Helped them to lose to FSU rather than to two unranked teams. UVa won their game handily today.

The #1 national seed is Oregon State. How 'bout them Beavers?? They're tied at 1 after two innings with NDSU.

Update on FU's game: FU with two runners on and two outs in the 4th, still down 3-0, which is amazing given the 10 hits they've already given up. Could have been a heckuva lot worse for them. Now, it's bases loaded for FU after starting the inning getting into a double play before getting these three on board.

Ohio_Cane

86, YES SIR!!

86Cane

JCane...doing WORK!

86Cane

JCane...can U please continue to walk us through ALL of the NCAA baseball regionals and super regionals as long as Miami is still in it (hopefully for a LONG time)?

JCane

and to the 5th they go in Canesville, with a 2 out based-loaded fly ball for the third out to end the 4th inning turd threat. Still 3-0, C of C.

Terrance Sullivan

JCane great work brotha. Go Canes! Let's beat Texas Tech.

JCane

Hey 86:

I'll try to do the best I can as time and family permits. I love this stuff!

Great performance by the Heat tonight. I think they've learned from San Antonio how to go easy with older vets in the regular season to be prepped for the playoffs. Anyone wanna start a pool for which day and time over the next few days that Vogel gets the axe?

Dude on a Pale Horse

Thanks JCane!

Lets Go Canes!

Lets Go Heat!

I missed the Heat games tonight. I was planting some maple trees in my front yard. What a beautiful day up here. I did tune in around half time and started laughing hysterically when I heard the score. Eat some you know what Lance. Maybe next year the Pacers should shut their mouths.

JCane

Okay, for those following, the top 8 national seeds are:

1.Oregon State
2.Florida
3.Virginia
4.Indiana
5.Florida State
6.Louisiana-Lafayette
7.TCU
8.LSU

TCU, LSU, IU, and UVa all won their openers, FSU and ULL both lost, and FU and Ore State are still playing. Yuck, as the Turds now have the bases loaded again, but this time with 0 outs, and still down by 3.

JCane

FU got a run in on a groundout, got the next groundout, and now has 2 outs with one run in. C of C dodges a big bullet, going to the 6th still up, although now 3-1.

Also, Ore State is still tied at 1 in the bottom of the 4th, as the highest seed in the tnmt. I don't see them not pulling it out though, gradually chipping away until everything starts to fall into place. I'd love to be wrong, and see every top seed fall except the U, but it's not gonna happen. Just FSU and FU, and I'll be happy, but only if the U advances.

JCane

Gator pitching has it going. 3 up, 3 down, in the Charleston top of the 6th. FU coming up to bat again.

86Cane

#TurdsGottaLose

86Cane

JC...keep it coming, U got it going on!

JCane

Gonna get some sleep, as I'm assuming everyone else here (who isn't working right now) with any intelligence is doing. As for FU, one out and a runner on 1st in the 6th. If they get the runners on base every inning, eventually something will give. Now runners on the corners with a single, still one out. C'mon, D.... Sac fly, 2 outs, 3-2 now, runner still one 1st. Popup ends the inning, Charleston still hanging on by a run.

Ore State and NDSU still tied at 1, bottom of the 5th (OSU half).

Also, as for other ACC teams, Clemson got pounded today by Oregon, 18-1.

Over and out....

JCane

Oh, and to correct the mistake, Ore State goes by OS, not OSU, to avoid confusion with the Cowboys and the Buckeyes.....and already two out with nobody on in the Charleston half of the 7th.

Montreal-Cane

Gators just lost!

JCane

Couldn't sleep, had to check the final, and in the Gator 9th, 3 up and 3 down, for the huge C of C win over FU in the FU opener in Gainesville. GATORS LOSE, GATORS LOSE! :)

The 4th seed in these regionals really has to win their openers, as they typically don't have the pitching depth for multiple games. They usually have one really good starter, and that guy needs to win his game.

Have a great day all.

Just want to thank all our troops all over, and our Cane troops. We could never begin to understand or do what you do, but we sure can appreciate and thank you for it!!! Thanks to all troops and special thanks to all our UM troops we hear from. I love reading your thoughts!!!!

Derrick Griffin. Glad he will get to continue his education, sorry he cannot be here. We will never get it 100% right, but we must continue to make our schools better and let the young people know you have to work at school, not dabble in it. I see kids wait until they are rising Srs to prepare for college, take SAT or ACT, and though great athletes they are not even good in the classroom. Teachers, students, parents and administrators all must work to make it continue to get better. I love athletes, but I will never agree they should have lower standards to get in or stay in. We all have to be on the same level field. A true student with great scores, grades, and accolades should not be denied a place because an athlete who has not achieved the same things want in. All else equal is my feeling. I work my kids every day about their school as hard as I work them on the football field.

Finally, in response to Gwyneth Paltrow likening getting hateful mail online and on Twitter to war....Really? You get to make movies, have millions, live in the luxury of a 15,000 sq ft home, and have every whim catered to because of past, present and future troops commitment. I need say no more; this was a comment that was not thought out at all. I guess we have people who open that jaw before thinking. It happens to all of us. Needless to say, think before you speak as she did not.

Thanks to all of our troops again....

Good luck to Canes on the diamond!!!

JCane

Well said, VA.

Also, good luck to the our ACC member, UNC, in Gainesville vs. FU at 1 pm today. I already had FU in the loser's bracket before they'd lost a game, but now it's official. Lose today, their season is over. Just hoping the Canes stay undefeated today.

HEADED TO THE LIGHT NOW, GOING TO HAVE A HUGE TAILGATE AT A FRAT HOUSE RIGHT NEXT TO THE TENNIS COURTS (TSULLY) THEN HEAD IN 50 DEEP TO CHEER ON THE CANES!!!!

Boom! Have a blast and cheer our Canes on to victory. Go Canes!

JCane

Bottom of the 2nd, FU is the visitor vs. UNC, still scoreless with UNC with the bases juiced and 2 out.

FSU down to Bama, 1-0, in the middle of the 4th with FSU considered the home team.

JCane

UNC wastes a golden opportunity, with an outfield fly for the 3rd out, letting FU out of a jam.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Does anyone lose more recruits to grades and tests than we do?

JCane

#1 (national top 8) seed ULL is an elimination game vs. SDSU as we speak, just started.

I disagree, when it comes to education, it's NOT a level playing field, you know that. Back in the days, most schools used to take on 1 or 2 academically borderline kids, sit em' out a year, and if they did well academically, they played. That should be part of the mission as well, It's better than going to some JUCO in the middle of nowhere, where everybody's on their own...

JCane

Bama over FSU, 4-0, in the Bama half of the 7th. Wow. FSU still hasn't scored a run in their regional yet, are just a few innings from ending their season.

FU and UNC are in a delay, although with UNC threatening at the time with runners on 1st and 2nd, nobody out, in the bottom of the 3rd.

ULL is handling SDSU, up 5-0.

Potential upset alert, big comeback by Binghamtom to take a 6-5 lead over Nebraska in a loser bracket game after losing to host Ok. State yesterday.

JCane

Bama is now up 6-0 over FSU in the 7th still. I like Lurker's comment about oxygen in Martin's trophy case. They did make it to the championship game once, as I recall. Unfortunately for them, the U was the opponent!
