Somewhere out there right now high school athletes all across the United States of America are thinking about and trying to decide where to attend college.
They are asking themselves: "Where do I want to spend the next four years of my life going to college?"
They wonder: "Should I go to the University of Miami or would I be happier in Lincoln, Blacksburg, Norman, Auburn, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Clemson, Ann Arbor, Athens, Columbus, Tuscaloosa, South Bend or Happy Valley?"
Well before you decide to choose any of these other cities or towns somewhere in the middle of some State that is losing population due to mediocre job markets, aging infrastructure and miserable weather don't you think you should consider other options?
Why go to a place like Michigan, South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio or Nebraska when maybe you should be in a better place like South Florida? Maybe you should just watch this short video about beautiful, warm, tropical Miami:
Sure you could go cow tipping in Oklahoma or Nebraska. Or maybe freeze your butt off in South Bend, Columbus or Ann Arbor. Or maybe just do absolutely nothing in some God-forsaken place like Clemson, Gainesville or Tuscaloosa.
Or go to the Florida State Capitol and listen to some politicians talking nonsense in a town without a single professional sports franchise, no beach, bad weather and not even a sliver of diversity.
Or you could go to the University of Miami and find yourself in a seriously cool and happening place. A truly major international city with incredible diversity, hot women, a lot of exciting activities, major concerts and cultural festivals year-round.
The Miami Heat plays here with some guys named Lebron James and Dwayne Wade.
The Florida Panthers play here on ice in spite of 80 degree weather year round.
The Miami Marlins play here too and in a brand new retractable roof stadium.
The Miami Dolphins play here in the very same stadium as the Miami Hurricanes.
So when making your choice of where to attend college why compromise if U don't have to?
Great article Soup. U rule!

Unless you're in Cali. So much to do in SoCal and it's always sunny without the humidity. Lived in the Bay Area as well. I like it better up there, but it's gotta be a tough pull for the U to get these Cali boys outta here. I'm surprised every time they do.

Did I mention San Diego, LA or Palo Alto?
Of course not, those are great places to go to school also.

SOUP, I think they're starting to listen. IMO, I think we're outrecruting UF & FSU for 2015. It's still early, but still...
Posted by: CaneRock | May 05, 2014 at 12:32 AM
CR... I don't think we are out-recruiting FSU so far in 2015. FSU already has four 4-Star commits including our top CB target Tyrek Cole. They also got a 3/4-Star CB from Miami Central Calvin Brewton. So far we are out ahead of Florida.. but look for a possible flip from Dexter Williams.
Miami has 11 commits already, so we dont have room for a bunch more. Good thing is we are in play for big fish the rest of the way with JJ, Irvin etc.

HAD A GOLF TOURNEY SATURDAY FOR WORK VENDORS, WE SHOT A 4 UNDER GOOD FOR 3RD PLACE OUT OF 20 TEAMS.. WENT LOOKING AT TOS FOR THE FAKE ZILLA COULD NOT FIND HIM LETS JUST SAY I SAW SOME THINGS MAAAAN..A TRUE SEAL NEVER TALKS ABOUT HIS MISSIONS
Posted by: canezilla | May 05, 2014 at 06:37 AM
Brooklyn wanted Miami... they should be careful what they wish for. There have been 3-4 teams that have gone 3-0 or 3-1 etc against Miami in the regular season just to lose to Miami in the playoffs. I respect his game, but I cannot stand KG, he is suck a punk. He talkes so much shyt and acts all tough but as soon as someone steps up he just throws his hands up like "i dont want trouble"

From CIS & Rivals article about Gray..
Says he took the ACT but hasn't received his score yet. Thinks he needs an 18, and he'll be good.
Coaches say he will play RB (and maybe some QB) in Wildcat packages but will otherwise play as a WR.

Am I Shocked about SH77? nope, not one bit. a lot of these guys probably fail drug tests, a team will give him a shot just like a team has given a lot of kids a shot. Too bad SH77 seems to continue on this immature pathway, hopefully getting drafted will change this, even though I think once he is in the league making some good money it is tough to change your ways.

UMike, yeah, FSU has outrecruited us in the DB department...and T-Rob at UF doesn't make it any easier. I think Williams is a good DB coach, but His recruiting...ehhhhh.

All U have to do is stop for a while, it's not that hard. He's an idiot.

Seantrel should've hired Rosenhaus, because that agent He has now SUCKS!
Posted by: CaneRock | May 05, 2014 at 11:13 AM
UMike, those millions left Seantrel's repertoire a looooooong time ago...a few days wasn't gonna fix ANY! of that. But you would think that after He admitted to drug use at the Senior Bowl, and the Combines, that He would've had it corrected at Pro Day. But NOPE!, He showed up in bad shape to that also.
Posted by: CaneRock | May 05, 2014 at 11:26 AM
he wasn't Dehydrated he was just high as F@#$ at the pro day and got the munchies. Big man's got to eat.

Posted by: Canesteeler | May 05, 2014 at 12:33 PM
I remember when he was in the section about HS athletes around the country as he had a huge upside. He was not a bad player, but he never reached full potential. Yes it is foolish of him to do these things. I still hope something good happens for him. I hope someone gets him and makes him work his ass off and reach that potential. I hate to see a young person create difficulties for themselves.
CS hope all is well with you. I hope your children are well, and you are taking great care of yourself. always nice to see you post.

Seantrel is just dumb. Making bad mistakes. Smoking weed.. you got all your life to do that. Like come on man. I am 26, got 2 boys 3 and 1 and I don't anything illegal I just go to work and go home to my kids. Grew up on the south side of Chicago for 20 years doing everything I could to get away. Moving to Seattle changed me as a person. I'm not perfect but I've never did any type of drug and I've never had alcohol before..not trouble with the law. It's just simple. Live man.. good grief kid.

Yes I think I remember reading something about Hinds a while back. Such a shame, he definitely has talent, but probably not a lot of self control

LMAO!
Florida State star quarterback Jameis Winston appeared to avoid deputies when he walked out of the Ocala Road Publix on Tuesday.
A Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputy said Winston ordered three pounds of steamed crab legs with Old Bay seasoning and one pound of steamed crawfish with Cajun seasoning and then left the store, according to the incident report released this afternoon.
The deputy, who wrote the report based on viewing the Publix surveillance video, then said Winston then came back in the store, collected his seafood and went to the dairy aisle and picked up a package of butter.
As he was leaving the store, Winston appeared to pause in front of a Leon County deputy who was working in-store security detail at the time. The pause, the incident report said, appeared to be an attempt to avoid walking in front of the deputy. He said Winston then walked behind the deputy, past all registers and out of the store.
A Publix employee told deputies he noticed Winston walk out of the store and assumed he hadn’t paid for his purchase since he didn’t have a grocery bag. He and his manager watched Winston walk out of the store because they thought he was grabbing a shopping cart. They soon realized Winston walked out without paying when he didn’t return.
The seafood clerk who took Winston’s order said the Heisman-winner regularly visits the store and that he gave Winston a bar code price tag on the seafood before he left the counter, the incident report said.
The cost of the crab legs, crawfish and butter is valued at $32.72, the price the sheriff’s office said he took. Winston, however, contends he did not steal the butter, the report said. He told deputies he left it in a bin before he left the store because he realized he did not need it.
The investigating deputy went back to Publix and looked in the bins where Winston said he put the butter, but none was found.
Winston completed his 20 hours of community service on Sunday afternoon and was reinstated back onto the baseball team following a suspension.

Barry:
UM’s frustration with Henderson could be summed up this way: The staff thought he had the ability to dominate every play and he simply didn’t do it because he wasn’t serious enough about his craft and capable or willing to change his behavior, including a pattern of bad decisions, immaturity and lack of discipline.

New Jersey QB Brandon Wimbush is committing tomorrow. The masses say PSU. Others saying OSU. We have a chance. Been recruiting him real hard.
For those who may forget, this is the QB I said I wanted. Especially since Torrance Gibson isn't coming to UM. Better passer right now than Gibson. By a good bit too. Good runner as well, but not on Torrance's level. Hope we pull him.
