On Canespace we have a blogger who posts his comments as "The Dude".
If you know something about movies "The Dude" is a character played by Jeff Bridges in a movie that has become somewhat of a cult classic called The Big Lebowski. If you never have seen the movie well then you should. Here is a brief summary of the plot from WikiPedia:
The Big Lebowski is a 1998 crime comedy film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Cohen. It stars Jeff Bridges as Jeff Lebowski, an unemployed Los Angeles slacker and avid bowler nicknamed "the Dude". After a case of mistaken identity, the Dude is introduced to a millionaire also named Jeffrey Lebowski. When the millionaire Lebowski's trophy wife is kidnapped, he commissions the Dude to deliver the ransom to secure her release. The plan goes awry when the Dude's friend Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) schemes to keep the full ransom.
The Big Lebowski was a disappointment at the U.S. box office and received mixed reviews at the time of its release. Reviews have tended towards the positive over time and the film has become a cult favorite, noted for its idiosyncratic characters, dream sequences, unconventional dialogue, and eclectic soundtrack.
In Miami there was this guy who played basketball that was apparently known as "The King".
Lebron "King" James helped bring two NBA titles to South Florida in the last four years but has now decided that simply wasn't good enough for him.
So, he has taken his talents with him back to his native Ohio. James finally and formally announced yesterday that he is going to leave the Miami Heat and play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Who leaves sunny, warm, beautiful Miami to go to old, cold, dank Clevelend?
Well, Lebron James does, that's who.
So while "The King" may have abdicated his throne in Miami, "The Dude" still abides on Canespace. What lessons we may all learn from these events still remains to be seen.

Geez War and freaking peace. I mean how many games does he thinks Miami will win this season is it 7 is it 8 is it 6 is it 9 etc.

Omar Kelly is the worst. He's a self absorbed egomaniac who is so impressed with himself that he actually thinks he's 100% right, 100% of the time.
The guy was an absolute Shannon hater on a personal level, which a journalist is never supposed to do. He totally trashed Shannon with a vicious personal attack when he was fired. Now I'm not a big a Shannon fan (as a head coach anyway), but what he did was hateful and uncalled for.
That should tell you what kind of a person he is.

THREE QUESTIONS FOR HEAT FANS:
1. Is Chris Bosh getting paid more to stay in Miami than LeBron James is getting paid to sign with Cleveland, (especially when you factor in the difference in state income tax)?
2. Do the Heat make the 2015 postseason playoffs?
3. In a (not so) hypothetical 2015 NBA final championship series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who do the Heat fans root for?

1. Yes. Getting about another $1M/yr and an additional yr. No state tax. He is getting paid. (Horrible move by heat brass)
2. Unfortunately, yes. I feel it would be better served not paying bosh that type of $$ and starting rebuild mode. I fear this contract sentences us to the same fate as the Lakers of recent years with true rebuilding toward contention off in the distant future. This will be annual mediocrity.
3. I'd have to say spurs. Simply because I enjoy seeing Cleveland suck in everything. This tradition must continue.

I totally agree. Bosh ain't worth that $$$.
I trust Riley because he is the MAN and he has gotten it done TWICE at Miami with different teams. But if it were me I would have cut Bosh loose, let Wade play out his remaining years as a Heater and start an entire youth movement rebuilding process.
But I also know that ain't Riley's method so we go with what we know. I would have signed Melo with Bosh's money too even though he is NOT my favorite player he is MUCH better than Bosh, at least at scoring.

Just my opinion but with the end of the big 3 era the Canes and Phins past failure won't be able to hide in the shadow of the Heat success, the Miami sport fan base love/hate will shift back to football. Time to win now.

In his last year in Toronto, before he came to Miami and scaled back as part of the big 3, Bosh averaged 24 pts, 11 rebounds, 2.4 assists.
He was basically the only player available that can put those kind of numbers up and is still relatively young.
Posted by: Lurker | July 12, 2014 at 07:33 PM
I love bosh and his stats will increase by a good margin. But is he worth $118 million? Hell no

nice Blog article. yes, we still have The Dude LOL. Lebron is going home, the Cavs must be better than when he left and it is where he is from. He has won the Eastern Conference 4 consecutive times with two titles in Miami. He is going to be frustrated with the Cavs for awhile. Also, he was defended pretty well by that desperate housewife in the Finals which I was surprised by. Seriously, you are LeBron, mow over Parker!
The City of Miami, fans and the Heat organization have handled his leaving very well too - much better than when he left Cleveland.
VA - Miami sports fans have embraced The Heat because it is the one sports team in the city committed to winning.

I would like to get both of these VA guys; it would really help our team. Sweat is a monster!!
Posted by: VA Cane | July 13, 2014 at 11:05 AM
Here's my take on LeBron:
He divorces his first wife (call her "Cleveland") in order to marry a younger, prettier woman ("Miami"). However, after four years the sex isn't so good any more, and he longs for the "good old days". So, he decides to divorce his second wife to remarry his first wife.
Bro, what are you thinking? What are you doing? “You can’t go home again!” Once you have left your provincial backwater city for a sophisticated metropolis you cannot return to the narrow confines of your previous way of life and, more generally, attempts to relive youthful memories will always fail.

Understood!!! It is good to win. It just is so much better winning it all in Football!!!! I think we are working on that. I cannot help it; for me its football all the time!!!!!!

We need to add these VA guys they would be huge get and help our team. Again they are kids and it can change, but Sweat at DE would be something. Chick has done a decent job, and is loyal. He is a great kid who is a good college player. A guy like Sweat would change the Defense and make the O account for him every play. Can you say pressure?
Posted by: VA Cane | July 13, 2014 at 01:43 PM
Riley sucks so bad he just got Luol Deng on the cheap for two years and barring injury or collapse, almost guaranteed a nice playoff run for the Heat.
But sure, amateur beer swillers know more about how to run a professional basketball franchise, so maybe I should have checked with them before I said anything. lol

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2127762-after-lebron-james-departure-miami-heats-nba-debts-keep-piling-up
Also, Stephen A reported that LBJ didn't really care for Riley. Was too controlling, didn't have the vision. Mad about Miller. Wouldn't let his friends sit near the heat bench and made them sit at other end of court, etc...
I'd say Stephen A knows more than a Lurker and my original points are still valid (see that bleacher report article).
Posted by: BEERicane | July 13, 2014 at 05:09 PM
^by vision Stephen A was talking about having similar vision as lebron with respect to building through youth rather than cheap vets. Not necessarily didn't think his ideas for a team were wrong, just preferred a different approach.
