On Canespace we have a blogger who posts his comments as "The Dude".
If you know something about movies "The Dude" is a character played by Jeff Bridges in a movie that has become somewhat of a cult classic called The Big Lebowski. If you never have seen the movie well then you should. Here is a brief summary of the plot from WikiPedia:
The Big Lebowski is a 1998 crime comedy film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Cohen. It stars Jeff Bridges as Jeff Lebowski, an unemployed Los Angeles slacker and avid bowler nicknamed "the Dude". After a case of mistaken identity, the Dude is introduced to a millionaire also named Jeffrey Lebowski. When the millionaire Lebowski's trophy wife is kidnapped, he commissions the Dude to deliver the ransom to secure her release. The plan goes awry when the Dude's friend Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) schemes to keep the full ransom.
The Big Lebowski was a disappointment at the U.S. box office and received mixed reviews at the time of its release. Reviews have tended towards the positive over time and the film has become a cult favorite, noted for its idiosyncratic characters, dream sequences, unconventional dialogue, and eclectic soundtrack.
In Miami there was this guy who played basketball that was apparently known as "The King".
Lebron "King" James helped bring two NBA titles to South Florida in the last four years but has now decided that simply wasn't good enough for him.
So, he has taken his talents with him back to his native Ohio. James finally and formally announced yesterday that he is going to leave the Miami Heat and play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Who leaves sunny, warm, beautiful Miami to go to old, cold, dank Clevelend?
Well, Lebron James does, that's who.
So while "The King" may have abdicated his throne in Miami, "The Dude" still abides on Canespace. What lessons we may all learn from these events still remains to be seen.
Zero faith in No'D UMike? K, what's your faith in Al Golden to rectify the situation at the end of the season?
Posted by: The Dude | July 14, 2014 at 03:34 PM
I'm no sure, I thought it was very obvious D'No needed to be let go after last season. If the D is bad again I think Golden HAS to part ways if he wants to keep building. However, Im not totally convinced Golden would. He already has a youth factor excuse ready to go and I think if there is even a SLIGHT improvement (but still bad) he will keep him.
I like Golden, I think he is doing great things, however when he didnt fire D'No it made me at least question if he is he right guy.

From CIS & 247..
Jack Allison (2016 QB commit) 247 update
Miami’s 2016 recruiting class is on a roll and the commitment of Palmetto quarterback Jack Allison probably had something to do with it. Allison (6-5, 185) ended the process early on June 23rd when he notified Cane coaches that he would be headed in their direction.
-Says “I knew Miami was the perfect place and I realized right there that I was done,” “It felt so right and I knew I was going to commit there sometime anyway. I figured why hold myself back from being where I want to be?”
-Says “When I went there for the first camp, I got a good feeling, but the second time made it for sure,” “Meeting Coach Coley, I saw how good of a dude he is and he’s somebody I want to play for. Coach Golden is awesome too, I got a chance to sit down in his office. We talked and I really liked what he had to say. Of course the tradition of the ‘U’ is amazing and I wanted to be a part of that.”
-turned down other offers from Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, South Florida, and UCF. He’s happy having his mind made up and there’s no way it will change later.
-Says “It was nice to get it off my mind and focus on just football and Miami,” “Now I won’t be getting pulled out of class to talk with all these coaches who come by. It wouldn’t even matter because I’m a Miami guy, a million dollars couldn’t take me away at this point.”
-Allison is already joined by five future teammates, three of whom are talented pass catches from prominent programs in South Florida.
-Says “I’m really excited about our class, the best part is it’s mostly wide receivers,” Allison laughed. “Sam Bruce, Dionte Mullins, (Dredrick) Snelson, those guys are straight studs. I hit them all up on Twitter and I talked to Sam once or twice. I’ve never met any of them before but I can’t wait to get down with them. I bet they were there at the camp when I was but I didn’t know who they were at the time.”
explained what Miami will be getting in him despite not being a finished product with two high school seasons left to play.
-Says “I’m a winner, I’m not going to lose games without doing everything it takes,” “I don’t even want to be labeled as a pro-style quarterback, just as somebody who gets it done. Now I could bring a little more speed to the table, I’m trying to get my 40 time down from a 4.9. I’m shooting for a 4.2 but I’m not sure if that can happen. In all seriousness, I’m working hard on improving my mobility.”

-Coach Jethro Franklin is recruiting him to Miami.
-Says "He's a good guy, is very knowledgeable of the D line, knows what he's talking about," "He talks about where I can fit into Miami's different defenses they run."
-teammate, Claude George, is a Cane commitment.
-Says (On Impact) "We're very close," "But the influence, it's neutral because at the end of the day I'm my own person. But there is a little bit of an impact."

IMO, Riley does bear some culpability in Lebron leaving. The thing that keeps sticking out to me, is this "He underestimated the influence of James' advisers" that I kept hearing. Seriously, who did He think Rich Paul was?...what agent doesn't have influence over their client?
I hope Riley didn't look at Lebron's people, and think..."OK, those are the cats He runs the streets with, but when He's with me, it's business." I've been reading up on Rich Paul, that young fellas making some REAL moves.
Posted by: CaneRock | July 15, 2014 at 08:22 AM
I think the move was ALL Lebron and his feelings. I think if Miami 3-Peats MAYBE he stays...He was just married, his wife is from the same area etc, I can understand why he went back. The statement that "Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball" says A LOT about the move and his intentions. Besides.. all he has to do is win 1 title in Cleveland, just 1 and he will be a God forever there and him never getting 6 wont hurt his legacy as much.
Posted by: UMike | July 15, 2014 at 08:32 AM
LeBron made an emotional decision that's going to cost him at least 2 more titles.
Posted by: Go Canes | July 15, 2014 at 08:51 AM
But since he went back, and they way in which he did, he is only chasing 1 title now instead of chasing 6. I would really love to see a healthier Wade come back strong next year just to shut people up.

So does He have another excuse, if the Browns or Indians win a championship before Him? LMAO! BTW, the Indians are only 6.5 back in the AL Central...
Posted by: CaneRock | July 15, 2014 at 09:29 AM
CR.. just saying.. if he wins 1 title there his legacy is cemented. I dont think he has an excuse, but he definitely turned the tables on how his legacy will be defined.. at least imo

I definitely appreciate it. When I first interview it was last Monday and the lady said "we will let you know by the end of the week or early next week if we want you back for a second interview"... well she called me back the next day. I hope that is a good sign.

UMike feel very good about your chances.
As someone who is hired and fired a lot of people in my life, I can tell you the number one thing I look for in a potential employee is desire and passion for the job they're looking for. You obviously have that, plus a lifetime of experience that will help the kind of kids you'll be working with.
Posted by: Go Canes | July 15, 2014 at 10:58 AM
Good luck UMike I think your coaching and insight with young people will be a great asset and strong foundation. You are one of us and we all will have our prayers in for you. I think you will get it!!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | July 15, 2014 at 11:12 AM
Go Canes.. I appreciate that. I made sure to tell them on my first interview the passion I had for making an impact on young peoples lives. I told them they may have candidates with a better education or credentials, but none with the passion I have or that can relate to these kids the way I can.
Posted by: UMike | July 15, 2014 at 11:23 AM
Thanks VA.. much appreciated!
The lady asked me if I would be intimidated because some kids have records... I was like "not one bit, I use to be that kid. I have no fear of that at all".. I think that made an impression on her and I bet other candidates might be hesitant knowing that.

I know a lot of people don't like McFadden but he did go to Oregon and put on a good show, got selected to the all opening team.
he's ranked high in every website.
Does he just project better as a safety or is he overrated and just lucky?
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | July 15, 2014 at 02:17 PM
I'm only a fan of T McFadden when he's in gym shorts or 1 on 1 with a good receiver. Not a fan of anything else. When he gets in a game situation with more than one assignment (cover xxxxx WR), he's very average.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | July 15, 2014 at 02:59 PM
I think McFadden is a product of the system at AH...seems like they do quite a bit of blitzing.

SMDH! Dre @$$ got over...why didn't I think of that $h!t LMAO!
The New York Times reports that Dr. Dre’s Beats by Dre headphones are inexpensive to make, with headphone designers estimating “the cost of making a fancy headset is as low as $14.” A pair of Beats by Dre can cost upwards of $450, however the quality of the headphones has always been a concern. TIME Magazine ranked Beats by Dre as the second to worst headphone brand out of 18 in terms of sound performance last month.

The Miami defense requires a vastly improved front seven, and the (necessary, if charges are true) dismissals of Alex Figueroa and JaWand Blue complicated the picture. Presently, the linebacker position is a glaring weakness.
Behind Denzel Perryman and Thurston Armbrister, Raphael Kirby and Jermaine Grace are the two top linebackers. However, neither has played an overwhelming amount of meaningful snaps, and "trial by fire" is an adequate way to describe the first month for the duo.
Juwon Young moves into Blue's vacated backup position, forcing the true freshman into a role for which he might be ready at best. Even Terry McCray could be given some garbage-time reps at inside linebacker, keeping him from a redshirt season.
Unless Tyriq McCord rapidly becomes more than an edge-rusher, another first-year player in Darrion Owens is a second-string 'backer.
But other than Perryman and maybe Armbrister, are they actually ready? Kirby has averaged 1.3 tackles per game in 20 appearances, Grace was essentially a special teams contributor in 2013, and the others are new to college ball.
Golden will address this issue in some manner, but he'll probably manage to coach-speak around the situation.
