Gray skies opened up for the second consecutive day and once again postponed the start of day 2 of the University of Miami's Fall training camp, this time for over an hour. As you can imagine, the players grew restless as they waited for the gray clouds to clear so they could take the field and get in some quality work on Greentree Field.
Speaking of gray (or is it grey?), day 2 of Canes camp saw the emergence of the freshman player that some have already anointed the next "Great One" at Miami, RB/ATH Trayone Gray. Gray struggled and had to work hard just to get qualified at UM and was finally cleared for practice on Tuesday.
Gray didn't waste any time once on the field as he showed flashes of why many believe that he will be an impact player this year along with running mate Joseph Yearby in the Hurricanes backfield behind possible Heisman Trophy candidate Duke Johnson and hard running Sophomore Gus Edwards.
Gray, who measures 6'2" and weighed in at 222 pounds, is big and fast. On one play that showed what he is capable of, he took a simple screen pass from QB Jake Heaps and rambled past the UM defense for what would have been a touchdown during 11 on 11 drills.
Offensive coordinator James Coley suddenly has a backfield crowded with talent which is always a nice problem to have. With Duke getting a majority of the touches this season it may be tough to keep all of the running backs happy and well fed. It will be up to Coach Coley to figure out how best to do that.
As for another shade of gray (or is it grey?), former QB Gray Crow showed that he is fitting in at his new H-back position, catching the ball nicely from all of four of the Hurricane QBs.
Crow, a hard worker and long-time Canespace fan favorite, will hope to get some quality playing time at his new position this season.
We wish our man Gray Crow, newcomer Trayone Gray, anybody else named Gray that we may have left out and all the UM players, a healthy and productive training camp and a successful 2014 season.
#Go Canes!

LeBron & Love were 3rd & 4th in NBA in total points last season. No team has ever acquired 2 players who ranked in top 5 in previous season.

I hold back nothing. Happy for Lebron to have an elite team again. Still hope the Heat beat them. Don't think they will.

FROM ORLANDO SENTINEL:
With two more running back additions to Miami's 2015 recruiting class last month, it appeared things could be getting crowded for Winter Garden West Orange's Dexter Williams.
He committed to The U in April even though it appeared he might be a heavy lean toward Florida given huge family support for the Gators. But with the Hurricanes' additions of Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas RB Jordan Scarlett and the class change for former 2016 commit RB Mark Walton of Miami Booker T. Washington, putting him in the 2015 class, as well, it looked like Williams might be the odd man out.
Williams said Wednesday, however, that a recent rash of decommitments from Florida has taken the Gators off his list of possible schools and he said he's 90 percent committed to Miami, with Southern Cal, South Carolina and Louisville still in the remote possibilities.

The Jacksonville Jaguars play their first preseason game on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Gus Bradley wants the Jags focusing on “Rules ball.”
In preparation for the Bucs, Bradley and staff came up with some general game-planning by looking at Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford’s time at Cal, but in the preseason, it’s about your own team and the individual players.
“You just come up with some general ideas, maybe watch what Coach Tedford did at Cal and his base philosophy,” Bradley said of the game plan. “But we go into it really trying to teach our guys we want to play hard, play fast, play together, run and hit at the Bank (EverBank Field). Let’s just run and hit and, really, follow our rules. We call it ‘Rules ball.’ Go out there, play your rules. There are maybe going to be some things you weren’t prepared for, but just trust your preparation, as far as all the learning you’ve had, and go from there.”

They do. I think they still have the old basketball practice facility at The Hecht Center and then they can go over to the new basketball practice facility at the BankUnited Facility. But neither are turfed, they are wood floors.

I am hoping this offense is unstoppable. We need a QB to manage the game and protect the ball.

If MLB was smart, they would let sleeping dogs lye and move on...
Major League Baseball officials have contacted the DEA and U.S. Attorney's office in Southern Florida in an effort to unmask the names of any players who might have violated the league's drug policy, sources told ESPN's "Outside the Lines."

THIS JUST IN: NCAA approves reforms that will give Power Five conferences ability to write their own rules.
ACC better one-up the SEC when it comes to sneaky rules lol
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | August 07, 2014 at 01:19 PM
Ohio... yea that is going to create a lot of issues in college football.
Posted by: UMike | August 07, 2014 at 01:22 PM
"The NCAA Division I board of directors on Thursday voted to allow the 65 schools in the top five conferences to write many of their own rules. The autonomy measures -- which the power conferences had all but demanded -- will permit those leagues to decide on things such as cost-of-attendance stipends and insurance benefits for players, staff sizes, recruiting rules and mandatory hours spent on individual sports.'
^^^ the game is about to change in a big way

College football rules were changed on the targeting call. Now the review can overturn the penalty and reinstate the player or keep the penalty and the expulsion.
Can no longer keep penalty and allow player back. May result in more expulsions. Need to be careful back there.

Dreeeeeeeaaam, dream, dream, dream!!
The heat wouldn't be $h*t without Lebron these last 4yrs and now he'll be playing against those washed up has beens with a better team???? Our defense has a better chance of finishing ranked #1 in the nation. Lol
Posted by: WWIN | August 07, 2014 at 01:38 PM
Well the rules need to change. Makes no damn sense that a Nick Saban, makes more money than what 85 schollies at Bama' are worth COMBINED!
Posted by: CaneRock | August 07, 2014 at 01:38 PM
The Heat will still be a good team, especially if Wade adapts his game, but IDK if we could take the Cavs in a series. IF we did it would be because we out-coached them. Spo is a dam good coach and the Cavs will have an NBA rookie coach. The Heat will be FAR from washed up imo
Posted by: UMike | August 07, 2014 at 01:44 PM
WWIN...we got that Lebron stopper though...DENG! And excluding Lebron, the only players the Cavs have with playoff & Championship experience, ain't no spring chickens themselves (Allen & Miller).
