NEW BLOG IS UP!

Dude on a Pale Horse

O_C,

All you have to do is look at this team man and its staring you in the face. This bus isn't about being a homer, this thing is real, we have a better football team than even we give credit to. These dudes are pumped up and fast. We are going to win big. Honestly the only game on the schedule I can see giving us problems is VT. Why? Because we'll be ranked top 10 and those hokie fans will show up to hate on us. But I can't see VT really hanging with us. FSU can hang talent wise, but its in Miami and Sun Life will be rocking. We will be the surprise team in the CF playoff next year. The only thing FSU controls is how we beat them. They show up to play, we beat them close. They show up flat, we laugh them out of Sun Life.

Ohio_Cane

Love it that TD jumped on the bus!

Dude on a Pale Horse

djmb,

We're going to kick Louisville's @ss, this much I know. Next two games are a warm up to the party we are going to have @Nebraska. The DL will be fine. Them boys are strong and stout in the middle and the ends are going to be comin, look for an outstanding year from Chickillo and his crew. The rapist is old news my man. Forget him. Grace? Stud. Kirby? Solid. Armbrister? Going to have a really good senior year. Owens? Mean. We are not only going to be fine there, we are going to be deep and talented. Listen up folks, the storm is here. Put on your raincoats and batten down the hatches. Its Hurricane season.

BigWindyCane1

Love the depth I see on both sides of the ball. Canes should have a ten win season. They have the talent to win the coastal. The Canes have the most talented team by far, but the most important position, QB, remains an enigma. Having seen most of the other players play in HS, and some play in college, Canes fans should be very optimistic.

WWIN

Listen people, the QB position will be the same or better than last year, with a 95% chance of the latter.

Huh...Golden confirmed UMike's earlier point today.

Q: Does Williams' status make the quarterback situation fluid?

“Tricky. Makes it tricky. Yup. Makes it tricky, because he had a really good spring. And he’s bright and he’s a leader, so yeah, it makes it tricky. But his return will be a good thing for the University of Miami. That’s how I look at it. His return, whenever it is, will be good for us. But again, it’s just, that’s why I’ve just taken on this one day at a time mantra. I’m not really worried about other than just how do we get the guys ready for practice tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock and see what tomorrow brings.”

2014 Miami Hurricanes are a very, very good football team.

Posted by: The Dude | August 14, 2014 at 07:02 PM

I still haven't seen anything that reassures me about the DL. And with Figueroa gone, I'm not exactly stoked about our (non-Perryman) linebacking corps.

I think all 12 regular season victories are likely to be barn-burners.

SinisterCane

Hurns looking good

VA Cane

Hello...I'm Johnny Cash.....great work Dude!!!!!!

Dude on a Pale Horse

I call that little ditty, College Football Blues, in my Johnny Cash Voice of course.

Dude on a Pale Horse

So watch out college football,
Your glory days are through,
The SEC is over,
Make way for The U,
Oh we're gonna take that trophy,
Judgement day at last,
When Miami comes to your town,
We're gonna kick your @$$!

Dude on a Pale Horse

If I were Gus Edwards,
I'd tell you what I'd do,
I'd watch Duke Johnson torch them,
And then I'd run them through,
Oh them Cardinals best be running,
Because they can not hide,
A Hurricane is coming,
And its on our side.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Well I hear that bus a comin,
Its revin up again,
We're dominating like since,
I don't know when,
Them Miami boys are ballin,
No need to cry or pout,
When Denzel drops his shoulder,
He's gonna knock 'em out.

VA Cane

RCCF,

thanks for the seat brother; we rolling all the way!!!! We got to be confident in our boys Go Canes!!!!!

Oh by the way my scrimmage Tuesday...vs Matoaca and Kenny K the coach....they did not score. We scored 9 tds 2 fgs...we looked good. The D punished people and the O ran wild. We embarrassed them...not trying to do so. We were that good they were that bad!!!!!

Dude on a Pale Horse

CR,

This is truth bro. This team is ready to contend. I need you and UMike and Terrence on the bus man. Let's put it this way, you guys are either on the bus via your own will, or me and some of the boys from the bus are showing up in an unmarked van wearing ski masks. We gonna snatch yo @$$ up! Haha! Canespace is on the bus!

CaneRock

Miami 31-17 over Louisville, in a game that is never close, maybe worse.

Posted by: The Dude | August 14, 2014 at 07:02 PM

I'm with you TD!...I'm with you! But you better be right dawg LMAO!

CaneRock

Better than Crow? I don't think so!

Posted by: 86Cane | August 14, 2014 at 06:11 PM

YES MON! Now pass de' dutchie pon' de' left hand side mon.

Dude on a Pale Horse

It may be 31 to 7 at the half. I doubt Duke will play after halftime. We will be healthy and ready heading into Nebraska, then I hope Al doesn't pull back the reigns. Nebraska is the game to let these kids give 3 years of frustration out. Nebraska will be the great awakening, we will open eyes if Al let's them. I'm not saying let's be classes and rub their faces in it and talk sh*t, I'm saying let's never stop scoring. Let's put 50 on Nebraska and shake up CF. I want FSU to know we're coming.

Dude on a Pale Horse

2014 Miami Hurricanes are a very, very good football team. We will shock a lot of talking heads and will run over our division with mostly ease. First we are going to pound Louisville. I'm telling you we are going to pound Louisville. Miami 31-17 over Louisville, in a game that is never close, maybe worse.

dj moonbat

Just finished watching the video of practice. Idk if its the new uniforms... but these guys look very very good.

Posted by: The Dude | August 14, 2014 at 06:34 PM

Although I do like the new uniforms, I do think it's more than that. For the first time in a while, I'm seeing a bunch of guys -- on both sides of the ball, even -- who look like they know what they're supposed to be doing. Plus, they're in shape.

Montreal-Cane

I have seen enough...Please start Kaaya. The problem with Heaps... he has a lot of his passes batted down. No way Heaps is more than 6' even Perryman said Jake is about my height...In watching a lot of clips on Heaps
expect him to throw lots of interceptions and to fumble once in a while. Kaaya is a fast learner. He is very smart with the football at all time. Now do i think Al will give him the job on sept. 1st? No way. But Brad will play this season for sure.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I hope you guys are ready, The U is about to run over college football.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Just finished watching the video of practice. Idk if its the new uniforms... but these guys look very very good. Duke & Perryman & Crawford stand out as certified NFL prospects. Wyche looks like the biggest NT we've had since Wilfork. TS, I've got good news for you because this team is winning at least 10 games. At least 10. If any of you think we aren't making the ACC CG you are high. I've convinced myself that this is the year the defense turns it way around and is a Top 30 D. I'll also say FSU better come to play or we won't just beat them but will hit them in the mouth. Again Miami 31 Louisville 17.

The Dude, 12%, 2014 the storm is here, they don't know what's coming.

j.w.

Crow is the M A N!

86Cane

Even as good as Dorsey was, he threw off his back foot a lot. Kayaa just needs to prove he has it between the ears and its back to QBU. May the best QB start.

Posted by: The Dude | August 14, 2014 at 05:56 PM

Better than Crow? I don't think so!

Dude on a Pale Horse

RS Kayaa or not, it doesn't matter. This kid is the goods, he'll make the most of it either way. This is the most fundamentally sound Freshman QB I've ever seen at The U. Even as good as Dorsey was, he threw off his back foot a lot. Kayaa just needs to prove he has it between the ears and its back to QBU. May the best QB start.

To me this team is the most talented we've had since Coker's last year when we won the MPC Bowl in Boise.

86Cane

@Manny_Navarro

@86Cane Fans want to see Kaaya for that reason. But Al has to keep the carrot over Kaaya's head and Heaps motivated.

@Manny_Navarro

@86Cane I think the players know best. Duke, Denzel, Coley all told me it's even.

You right Soup!!

What kills me is when people say they worried about the QB position this year like it was good last year, I'll take Heaps and Kaaya last year over SM17!! Lol

Willie Will you my boy but mannnnnnnnnnnnn there ain't nobody like Coley in our wr group. But i must agree with you that Malcolm will be a problem for every team.

Coley is our best receiver. I love the other guys there, but Coley will start all games, barring injury.

That depth chart will look different come game time.

Ohio_Cane

Right on cue:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – One day after completing its first scrimmage of #CanesCamp, Miami Hurricanes head coach Al Golden unveiled his team’s first depth chart of the fall.

The quarterback race has been a close one throughout camp, and the starting job has been narrowed to senior Jake Heaps and freshman Brad Kaaya. Miami’s starting wide receivers are senior Phillip Dorsett and redshirt sophomore Malcolm Lewis, sophomore Standish Dobard is the starting tight end and junior Duke Johnson returns as the starting running back. In front of Johnson will be either Ronald Regula or Walter Tucker at fullback.

The Hurricanes starting offensive line consists of junior left tackle Ereck Flowers, redshirt sophomore left guard Hunter Wells, redshirt senior center Shane McDermott, sophomore right guard Danny Isidora and freshman right tackle Trevor Darling.

Miami’s front seven includes defensive ends Anthony Chickillo and Trent Harris bookending defensive tackles Calvin Heurtelou and Olsen Pierre. The Hurricanes linebackers consist of veterans Thurston Armbrister and Raphael Kirby at the two OLB spots with Denzel Perryman listed as the starting MLB.

In the secondary, junior Tracy Howard and senior Ladarius Gunter hold down the two starting cornerback positions, while junior Deon Bush and redshirt junior Dallas Crawford have the nod as starting safeties.

There are a number of battles at specialist positions, including one between redshirt senior Ricky Carroll and sophomore Justin Vogel for starting punter responsibilities. Matt Goudis will kick field goals, while the race for kickoffs is a three-man battle between Jon Semerne, Goudis and Michael Badgley.

Sophomore wide receiver Stacy Coley will return punts, with freshman wide receiver Braxton Berrios listed behind him. Coley is also the lead option at kickoff returns, with Berrios and sophomore Artie Burns listed No. 2 and No. 3 respectively at the position.

CaneRock

WF names TRUE FRESHMAN QB John Wolford as starter.

Ohio_Cane

Pretty sure afternoon session of camp starts at 3:30. Should be more news and interviews coming out, including new depth chart.

CaneRock

If they put nine in the box, that's at least one guy who's completely open. A solid QB will find that guy often enough to force the defense to play it straight.

When I say we don't need great, I just mean we don't need a QB to make a ton of challenging throws or fancy scrambles. Just don't go all Turf Face or Jitters, and things should be fine.

Posted by: dj moonbat | August 14, 2014 at 02:08 PM

DJMB...I agree with you on the solid QB part...BUT, we need more than solid O-Line play. And as it stands right now, we're projected to start a true frosh at RT (McDermott), and a sophomore with little experience (Isidora). Now those 2 are talented, but it's gonna take time, and like I said earlier, it's not gonna be perfect. That's why IMO, we're more than likely to play the QB who everything doesn't have to be perfect for, than vice-versa. And IMO, that may be Kaaya.

Terrance Sullivan

Rock U are on a roll today my friend. U got me dying laughing. Keep it going my friend.

UMike

2 things happened to SM17... first Fisch left and then second he got a HUGE head with the offseason hype.

So many times I was at games and saw Duke open on the wheel route or in the flat and Morris simply did not look his way.

Posted by: 30CINCO | August 14, 2014 at 02:45 PM

So were the TE's. I want a QB that can see the field!!!!!!

CaneRock

And I'm not making excuses for SteMo, He had me like WTF! at some of the things He was doing last year.

CaneRock

UNC...IDK about one receiver or one target...but most QBs only have half field reads. Not very many QBs can go through whole field reads, much less have the O-Line to execute it. I think Dorsey went through whole field reads, but we all know what type of O-Line He had.

30CINCO

Crock i feel you on the change of coaches but i dnt think there's a college coach that would tell his QB to focus on one receiver or one target and force it to that target. IDK man Morris and his whatever attitude just really pissed me off

As long as my starting QB goes through his progressions thats good enough for me.. SM17 mad me SMDH alllll last season with his inability to go through his progressions and always force the ball.

With 4-6 yards between them when he catches the ball out of the backfield, not many DBs will be able to either Ohio. We have to get him in space as much as we can this season.

That kid is shifty like Collier. Hope he gets a chance. I'm sure he'll get his shot in camp to prove he can/can't do it.

Go Canes

Even Manziel and Winston were redshirted, but neither of those programs were in the position we are at QB.

Heaps is certainly not terrible but he definitely not the second coming of Dorsey.

In a perfect word we redshirt him. But that kid is starting next year no matter what happens in 14, so the coaches have to feel they need to get him plenty of snaps this year to get him ready.

CaneRock

And I wonder if we're gonna give Berrios a shot at punt return, He just seems like He can do it to me...

As if Duke wasn't already good enough, He's made major strides at catching the ball. MAJOR mismatch if the other teams can't match up.
