Bang!! Good post...

NEVER HAD MORE FUN THAN THIS!!!

Dude on a Pale Horse

O_C,

All you have to do is look at this team man and its staring you in the face. This bus isn't about being a homer, this thing is real, we have a better football team than even we give credit to. These dudes are pumped up and fast. We are going to win big. Honestly the only game on the schedule I can see giving us problems is VT. Why? Because we'll be ranked top 10 and those hokie fans will show up to hate on us. But I can't see VT really hanging with us. FSU can hang talent wise, but its in Miami and Sun Life will be rocking. We will be the surprise team in the CF playoff next year. The only thing FSU controls is how we beat them. They show up to play, we beat them close. They show up flat, we laugh them out of Sun Life.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Cool stuff 86.

Dude on a Pale Horse

You know thinking that up was fun, but the truth is that we are going to stomp Louisville out of the gate. I'm convinced we've gotten much better and create serious problems in all 3 phases.

What else can you expect from a U Alum. Congrats SOUP i knew it would be a walk in the park for you smart man.

Ohio_Cane

TD, U don't have to convince me. I've been saying Golden knows what he's doing for years, even through the toughest times.

Now, UMike on the other hand.... Lol

86Cane

Monty...can't wait until U come to a game this year. We gonna party like it's 1999!

Montreal-Cane

The Dude is really on the bus and he may even be the driver and we like it! Go Canes!!!

WWIN

Although I do like the new uniforms, I do think it's more than that. For the first time in a while, I'm seeing a bunch of guys -- on both sides of the ball, even -- who look like they know what they're supposed to be doing. Plus, they're in shape.

I still haven't seen anything that reassures me about the DL. And with Figueroa gone, I'm not exactly stoked about our (non-Perryman) linebacking corps.

I think all 12 regular season victories are likely to be barn-burners.

Posted by: dj moonbat | August 14, 2014 at 08:51 PM

Is that a contradiction that I smell???? Lol

Dude on a Pale Horse

Duke Johnson will be taking home some serious hardware.

http://caneswatch.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2014/01/29/duke-johnson-heisman-2014-odds/

He'll probably win the Heisman Trophy too.

Dude on a Pale Horse

"The Liberty City native has 3,453 all-purpose yards through two seasons, ranking seventh all-time at UM. He is 941 total yards shy of the all-time program record held by Santana Moss (4,394, set from 1997-2000)."

Yeah, he'll break that mid season some time.

86Cane

SOUP is O U T...

Ohio_Cane

Duke will break that record by game 5. Bank it.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Thanks M-C,

But I'll leave the driving to the pros (WWiN & RCCF). The Dude will be sitting right up front saving a spots for those that need to get on before the doors close. Every now and then I'll take the trip to the back of the bus with the party animals for a refill. Lol.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Idk O_C,

Let me think this out...

He'll probably have around 300 yards against Louisville.

Won't play much against FAMU or Ark St. Maybe 300 between the two.

Probably get another 300 against Nebraska.

Yeah, definately not out of the realm of possibility. Very good possibility.

Dude on a Pale Horse

You know who's going to have fun in game 2 and 3?

Joe and Tray and all of us watching.

VA Cane

Awesome article great job Dude. Here we go baby riding it to that 15-0!!!!!!! Crank up that bus RCCF!!!!!!!!

Congrats Soup, being an appraiser, I know how tough the RE exams are.... licensed and certified appraisal exams....which I have passed.....are brutally hard....great work!!!!!

Not being political....but JUSTICE for Michael Brown and family....he was murdered not killed.

Mountain Cane

Dallas Crawford is gonna light some people up this year. he's a tough hombre.

j.w.

Dude, hoping, praying that you're right. I err on the side of caution with predictions. But the other side of my brain sees that old X Files poster and says "I Want to Believe!"

Yup...and to exacerbate His murder, the FAA has a no fly zone over Ferguson, & and the local "police" pull up on a peaceful prostest like it's FREAKIN' IRAQ!

Dude on a Pale Horse

j.w.,

Listen to the calming sound of reassurance here. We will be a very good football team with a plethera of playmakers on O and D. We can beat anyone on our schedule next year, anyone. So I say we will beat everyone because we can. Plus everyone on our schedule is worse than us talent wise. Only FSU can match us and we got something for them this year.

UMike

The freshman phenom from West Hills, Calif., has already made his mark at the University of Miami.

And so has the graduate transfer out of Kansas via BYU.

Brad Kaaya, who enrolled at UM in May before even taking part in his high school graduation ceremony, is officially a major player in the Hurricanes’ quarterback race.

And so is fifth-year veteran Jake Heaps.

The Hurricanes unveiled their first depth chart of 2014 on Thursday, and next to “QB” it says “BRAD KAAYA OR JAKE HEAPS.”

UM coach Al Golden, who spoke to the media Thursday evening, said the order of the quarterbacks’ names is meaningless and that the race to determine the starter for the Sept. 1 opener at Louisville “is too close to call.”

Joked Golden of Kaaya being listed first: “I’m not very good at the alphabet, I guess.”

Heaps, the 6-1, 210-pound transfer, arrived in Coral Gables in June with four years of college experience, one of them sitting out, per NCAA rules, after leaving BYU for the Jayhawks. He was a 5-star player ranked the nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback in high school by Rivals.com.

Kaaya, a 6-4, 218-pound All-American out of West Hills Chaminade-Madonna, was 23-3 as a starter at Chaminade and threw for a school-record 3,855 yards and 27 TDs as a senior. He led Chaminade to a state championship last season.

Kaaya spent almost the entire morning practice Thursday with the first-team offense and started the day under center.

Heaps was mostly with the second team.

“I thought Jake had a really good morning [Thursday],” Golden said. “You really have to take into consideration who’s out there in each series and who they’re going against. It’s really hard to quantify that into a little sound byte. Maybe Brad was a little ahead [in Wednesday’s scrimmage] and Jake answered today, whatever the case may be.

“But they’re really [Nos.] 1 and 2 — either way.”

Golden said there will be a “cutdown day” following Monday’s second scrimmage, and then the final starters will be revealed in game week. He added that “by no means” is this “just a two-man race” and that he is intent on developing all of the quarterbacks.

When told before the depth chart was released that coaches were about to narrow the race to two frontrunners, Heaps said he wasn’t worried.

“I’m just going out there and focusing on me and every rep that I get and trying to make it count. What coach decides, that’s out of my hands. All I can do is just go out there and execute the best I can.”

Kaaya will be available to the media for the first time Friday — media day. That is the only day of the season that Golden allows true freshmen to speak to the media — until they have played in a game.

“You wouldn’t think Brad is a freshman quarterback,” said starting tailback Duke Johnson, who noted that he experienced no post-scrimmage soreness in his previously broken right ankle. “The way he comes in and handles the offense, the checks. He’s able to read defenses. He doesn’t do it as well as maybe the older guy, Jake. But he does it exceptionally well [for] a freshman.”

Go Canes

This is why we should all be positive. Competition between top 1-5 nationally rated players:

@mattyports: Golden: RB Joe Yearby outperformed RB Gus Edwards in scrimmage, which is why he was listed as Duke's backup. Expects Gus to respond.

And both of those guys have to be desperate to establish themselves because of what's coming.

There IT is right there.

CaneRock

Who told Matt Porter Duke was from LC?

UMike

Duke himself said he is from Liberty City.. he played Liberty City Optimist.. he just went to HS at Norland.

CaneRock

I'll take your word for it UMike. Not that it matters, but I thought Duke was more Miami Gardens/Carol City.

UMike

CR..me too when you think of Norland.. but I do know he played for Liberty City Optimist an has said he grew up there.. maybe he moved later on

raizecane

R Jenkins out for the season with a back injury....

UMike

raize where you been dude, thats OLD news lol

raizecane

UMIke.....i guess its official now..... :-)

UMike

raize.. Golden said it was "chronic".. guess it was lingering even last year.

WR Scott also hurt, arm in sling, shoulder/clavical.

-Day 10 of #CanesCamp under way.

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos
-On today's agenda: practice, Al Golden presser, media day (where yes, we'll speak to freshmen for first time). Prepare your timelines.
-Catching up after some lousy traffic and David Njoku now working with LBs. Artie Burns, Raphael Kirby in red.

Manny Navarro ‏@Manny_Navarro
-WLB Raphael Kirby (unknown injury) and CB Artie Burns (foot/ankle) in red (no-contact) jerseys today.
-Freshman WR David Njoku is moving to linebacker. Out here wearing No. 50, hitting the sled. #Canes
-Njoku move is sorta surprising, but #Canes need athleticism and depth at LB. WR 1 of the deepest spots on the team, w/ deep '14-16 classes
-CB Artie Burns and LB Raphael Kirby in red non contact jerseys. Burns hurt his right foot Thursday and was in a boot #UM
-Receiver Rashawn Scott out here with his right arm in a sling. We know it's a shoulder/clavicle injury #UM
-Rashawn Scott following the receivers around the practice field. Shame he's hurt again. Golden had high praise for him #UM
-It's a Bon Jovi morning at #Canes practice. Wonder if Al is a fan
-Scout from the Browns out here at #Canes practice
-Should be talking #Canes with @MarcEEisenberg on @640Sports now at 815 from practice

UMike

Njoku working with LB's???? wow

This is odd:

UMike

Njoku just screwed his college career.

CaneRock

Can Ryan Mayes play FS? And why don't we see what D'Mauri Jones can do there, it's not like He's gonna get burn at WR this season...or ever.

86Cane

Hassan

Njoko can be all world at LB. Will play alot of ST

86Cane

FOR UMIKE'S EYES ONLY:

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Optimists know that when things don't go their way, they've just had a bad day -- not a bad life -- and a new one is coming tomorrow. Optimists know tomorrow is a fresh start, which can in turn help lessen the negative experience of that bad day. Not a bad way to end a bad day, after all.

CaneRock

Short or long term, Njoku to LB might not be a bad move. We only have 3 LBs coming in next year, 4 if you count Gordinier.

86Cane

Nojoku is 6-4 230 as a freshman!

High School: Caught 40 passes for 981 yards and 11 TDs as senior in 2013 … Finished career with 76 receptions for 1,794 yards and 19 TDs … Added 334 rushing yards and six TDs on 39 carries … Second-team all-state selection in New Jersey … Coached by Ed Sadloch at Cedar Grove … Chose Miami over offers from Ohio State, Boston College, UConn, Temple and Rutgers ... Won national championship in boys high jump at 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor, clearing 6 feet, 11 inches.
