Old Skool

I'm proud of our team. They did well considering the coaching they were saddled with.

Old Skool

Last night, in front of a national television audience, we were left exposed like Jennifer Lawrence.

86Cane

That offense was chaos, and Kaaya just happened to be the guy under center. It was going to be chaos no matter what. The coaching deficits were enormous.

Uh huh.

Terrance Sullivan

Great article and spot on. This staff is horrible. Smdh love my Canes and well tailgating for 2014 time to restart the Mustang for us.

Yepp, it looked like a Canese fire drill

RCCF

I Do NOT Blame the Kids AT ALL.... D'No is HORRIBLE that is my final analysis... Im Growing a True Hate for D'No!!!!

UMike

I do not mean this as a knock on the D, I said earlier they looked better, but the D benefited from 2-3 wide open dropped passes that would of been first downs. I am very glad DP52 is back in the middle that alone will cover up a lot of D'No's problems.

SinisterCane

Will the ALL AL Golden First Team "Go Canes, Cinco305, Terrence Sullivan, Lurker" please explained why did we just lose 5 of 7 games?

LQ

Couldn't even sleep last night. Deleted that game out of my dvr. Poor preparation, everything Golden said was a lie. He can sell the hell out of a room and make you believe in him. But that process is flawed . He and Coley limited brad and only In garage time did we see the kid throw.

Ohio_Cane

Defense, nor defensive coordinator, were the problem last night...

SinisterCane

Big Ups to the Defense, they are the only bright spot so far

Ohio_Cane

1/13 on 3rd down on O. U be the judge if that loss is the defense's fault.

Ohio_Cane

Look at it this way... We'll be 2-1 heading into Lincoln, Nebraska and the O will have 2 tune-up games to get into rhythm.

RCCF

Ohio spare us the Offense crap.... D'No was calling 3-4, 3-3-5 all night long we were gashed up the middle horribly and no coverage at all....Oh did I mention AQM and McCord guarding WR's? Its ALL D'No's Fault and He Is PAST His Firing Time!!!!

RCCF.D'NoHater#1

UMike

Ohio.. I agree it wasnt the D's fault... but you can tell there were still issues there.. a better team like FSU, Nebraska etc might exploit... the play calling was just horrible.. I'm not even sure we beat Arkansas State at this point lol

UMike

We did manage to give up a career high and over 100 yards to the back up RB though lol... but overall was better than they finished last year

RCCF

Anyone Who Believes It Is NOT the Defense's Fault Was NOT Watching the Game!!!!

Like I said before

The offensive play calling and offensive game plan were really bad. Resulting in converting only one third down. The right side of the Oline needs a lot of work. But when you have 5 OLinemen blocking 7, what's going to happen?

A better called offensive game and we're in it until the end. But when you're inside the 10 twice and only come away with three points, and the rest of the game you're mostly running into the teeth of ten in the box without adjustments, you're going to lose. More than anything the offensive play calling, lack of adjustments, and poor play on the right to boot, is why we lost. Coley really bombed, but you have to put it on the entire staff as well.

Kaaya needs time but I see him improving. But the O calls have to get much better. I'll be an optimist and think it will.

Go Canes

Is somebody actually on here ripping the defensive coaches after that offensive debacle?

Defense played one hell of a game last night. Gave up 17 points until a minute left in the game, despite getting no rest because of the offensive side of all doing nothing the entire game..

Two turnovers in the other teams red zone. What more does anybody want?

And despite everything that went wrong last night we were one ridiculous penalty away from being down 24-20 in the fourth quarter on the road with the freshman quarterback making his first start against one hell of a defense.

I'll repeat what I posted last night. Once Kaaya gets his feet under him over the next two weeks this team will not lose another game, aside from FSU, for the rest of the season.

Louisville's 336 total yards would apparently tie them with Washington for #91 in total offense.

RCCF

s/o to Tracy Howard being called out by the announcer stating they are too good of a DB unit to be playing 10yds Off... but no its not the Defense....I admit the offensive line played POOR.... They are young NO WAY do they get the Hate the Defense Gets....he has had years to get that right and he is stuck in 3-4, 3-3-5, D'No is The WORST DC in Miami History.. FIRE D'NO NOW!!!!!

No Surprise.....He Said NOTHING About his BFF and His HORRIBLE Scheme!!

UpNorthCane27

Tough loss for so many reasons, such high hopes now seem a thing of the past. These are my grades for yesterdays performance.

Qb: C-. Kaaya seemed very hesitant and locked in on one wr the whole game. this grade is on Coley, he needs to correct this asap. if Louisville is bringing constant pressure, spread out 4 wr and mix up the routes!!!

Rb: C. Duke couldnt do much more with a Oline that got bullied all game. Gus looked horrible he gets an F!

WR:D. Besides Walford making that Td catch, Stacey coley was a disappointment, where was dorsett? why start throwing to waters at the end? Braxton berrios made a good catch in traffic.

TE: B. Walford caught the TD and made some catches.

o sorry almost forgot the Oline!! did they even play yesterday?

they get a big ole F+!!!!

First... even if that penalty (which was legit) wasnt called, Duke fell down inside the 5 which means the O was not promised 7 points..and second you are absolutely crazy if you think we will only lose to FSU from hear on out. We will be lucky to beat VT, Duke and Nebraska.

RCCF

Someone Put Sugar in the Gas Tank of My Daggum Bus!!!!

RCCF.D'NoHater#1

for the blame the O guys remember this.... DL should NEVER guard WR's up the field... DB should NEVER play 10yds off when all that is needed is 5 for 1st or how bout EVER/NEVER play tht far off the ball period? did that idiot even Play Chad9 at all? D'No is an Idiot by all accounts and my gloves are off...they have one more time to blame the kids out their moves and Im gonna blow my top.... Accountability starts with charging your BFF who should've been fired years ago....Im sure there is a CANE waiting in the wings for his job.....at this rate I rather have EdReed coaching our D..

RCCF.D'NoHater#1........................sorry gotta get my anger out some how... went to bed early and everything D'No makes me MAD!!

SinisterCane

RCCF, you'll never be the D'NoHater#1, lol

No O' with Kehoe was our problem last night

RCCF

Burst of Reality.... Hating D'No does NOT Mean let loose the reigns... We Will NOT Keep Losing...But Someone Needs to Be Fired!!!!

RCCF.D'NoHater#1

RDcane

We're gonna lose to FAMU.

UMike

Im starting to think Coley is NOT cut out to be a D1 OC or QB coach. I mean we have a stable of talent on that side of the ball and couldnt move it against a team with a new DC and system.

RCCF

UHHHHHHHH Blue Alert Blue Alert....Trolls to Left of Me Trolls to the Right....Admins Admins!!!!

Go Canes

Then I guess I'm crazy UMike.

I just wonder if you think this is as well as Kaaya is going to play all season or if he is going to be much better by the time we go to Lincoln and a completely different player by midseason.

UMike

Go Canes.. I do believe Kaaya will get better, but our OC and DC will continue to get out coached... and so will your boy Golden.

Mia Chi 'Canes '98

What did you all expect from Kayaa last night? Heisman numbers?

He is a true Freshman who stepped on campus in June. He was not even an EE...

This is the new age of Miami, QB's don't come in and become stars over night. Other schools yes, Miami NO!

Don't forget how bad Dorsey looked that November night in Blacksburg in 1999. He got better the more he played that year but he was not great. To his credit he had a great coaching staff as well as some great play makers on offense as well as good offensive line.

The jury is still out on some of playmakers on this team..

Again, a note Shalala: NO MORE LABOR DAY GAMES!!! It is embarrassing losing in these Nationally Televised games...

thirstybuzzardcane

Williams will be our starting QB @ Nebraska!

RCCF

GoCanes....yes Kaaya will get Better hello sir this was his 1st college game with NO blocking on the Right Side Period.. the things he did wrong can be changed with a small pep talk...stop focusing in on Coley and Berrios so much that you forget you got PD4..

Defense whether you wanna admit it or not has been an issue season after season after season...but yet we wanna blame a FR. QB that is really savage..smh.. Kaaya did very well the best part about the Offense is they don't look to the sidelines anymore and they aren't doing that GodAwful leg tap to let ppl know the ball is being snapped...see that is called making adjustments to your pieonary.. Has No'D done that at all? in years? oh ok.........keeps blaming the kids, oh assignments this, should've been there that....Dude you are NOT gonna stop an attack with a 3-4, or 3-3-5....don't have to be a genius to know that....look how Horrid those defenses are even in video game....FIRE D'NO NOW..

RCCF.D'NoHater#1

thirstybuzzardcane

Don't get too hyped up about Kaaya's 20 completions to Herb Waters at the end of the game. Their D was playing 15 yards back with no rush.

86Cane

Ohio...I agree with U 100%.

86Cane

Y'all have fun bashing.

SOUP is O u T...

Ohio_Cane

Isadora's penalty negating a great throw by Kaaya to Duke to get us down to the 2 was a back breaker. Close game late and that happens. Next play? Sack back to the 50 with ZERO blocking on the right side.

That play sticks out more than any other.

RCCF

Floyd mayweather could read defenses better than Miami coaches!!

By FAR the Best Post on my FaceBook Yet!!!

RCCF

thirstybuzzardcane

How come we never throw quick slants or crossing routes? We have all the talent and speed at WR, lets use it!!! Were we even in shotgun at all last night?

Go Canes

Agree 100% Ohio.

When you are on the road with a totally green QB making his first start and have the chance to get that close late, plays like that are total back breaker.

thirstybuzzardcane

Would like to hear VA Cane thoughts on this game? Has he posted yet?

Cane Since 1982

I have never seen such an inupt game plan in my life.

Why start a Frosh QB and only let him throw down field in obvious passing downs (3 and 8)?

Why do we have to throw a wide receiver screen at least once every 4 plays?

Why do we run up the middle when they have 8 people in the box?

Why dont we have over the middle corssing routes to make easy passes for a Frosh QB?

I think I now understand why Jimbo didn't let Coley call plays.

Although our D didnt look horrible compared to our collective all time low standards for the D, we still barely ever brought pressure and just sat in a 3 (sometimes 4) down lineman set to hopefully get their own pressure.

Im so depressed and frustrated.

AfriCane

Defense played better and were on the field for an eternity. But D'No still doesn't stack the box or bring pressure enough like they did to us.
The coaching is horrible. Time for a change.
I wasn't disappointed or sad. I slept well. We've been growing thru this with Shannon now for a while. There's no way an adult does not make adjustment to prevent him/herself getting hurt when u experience the same thing everytime.
Also, I came here a few days ago @ the beginning of CFB season after watching some games and said I wasn't sure about how our team would do because everyone was balling in CFB now. Ohio called me a downer.
But also finally I recognized the problem very clearly; the coaching! The coaching! The coaching!
This too shall pass my son!

Post-game, Al said among other things: We all have to look in the mirror, take care of business, watch film and take care of business," and "We have a lot of things we need to fix starting with me and the coaches."

It's true. It's all true.

Now, Al is a clean-cut, fresh-faced white guy in a tie, who says lots of things about leadership. As Americans, we're conditioned to expect guys like that to be leaders. ASIDE from those expectations, though, what evidence do we have that Al Golden, James Coley, Mark D'Onofrio et al. are capable of 'taking care of business' and taking care of the 'things we need to fix'? I'm having trouble thinking of any.

We've seen plenty of evidence that Al Golden is good at the part of the game that involves assembling good players and getting them in condition. But have we really seen any evidence AT ALL that he's good at the part that involves deploying those players effectively in actual football games against quality opponents?

Jramos

Golden hasn't won many national televised games, in fact just one so far,not good enough. He can talk a good game but he can't walk it

trianglecane

I believe that the slant and the crossing routes were pretty much closed down. ul played daring um to go deep. It seemed like most of the game there were 10 guys at least 5-10 yards off the los.

The zone runs were trashed because the oline could not get to the second level. thus you have lb's and safeties and back side dl's killing the run.

kaaya has to make the tougher throws to get other d's from copying ul. jmho.

UMike

dj.. GREAT... GREAT post!

I can't speak for anyone else but I was not waiting to rip the team. I want to win every game just like everyone else does. I had a feeling that UM would look similar to last year but I've always given the team a pass because of all the Shapiro nonsense.

My year for Al's "hot seat" was originally 2015, but I moved that up a year when he tried to take the job at Pedo State U. As far as I'm concerned Al is now a lame duck coach. We all know he is going to be fired, the question is now when.

The debate going forward should be about who our next coach will be. At the VERY LEAST we should be debating who our new OC and DC are going to be. These guys are not top coordinators and I for one do not have the patience to watch them learn their craft running my favorite team.

This is a train wreck. UM will win the obvious games (FAMU) and will lose a few shockers (Duke) this season. I'm not a psychic, that's what will happen with this coaching staff. This staff is not "coaching up" the talent that they have. Randy Shannon's staff was not "coaching up" the talent that they had. Larry Coker was not "coaching up" the talent that he had.

A blind squirrel can see that UM cannot compete at a high level within our own conference, let alone on a level with the Top 25. If Bobby Petrino was coaching Miami last night then UM wins that game running away. If Al gets all of the recruits he wants for the next 2 years UM will still lose 2 or 3 games a year. Is that Miami football??

If UM is already debating whether to fire Al at the end of the season then I say fire him today. Send a message to the fans that you feel their pain and you will stop at nothing to put a winner on the field.

Some were snickering yesterday because we were discussing Butch Davis' desire to coach UM again should the opportunity present itself. If we were just throwing names around randomly I would feel the same, but I clearly read the article that Susan wrote in January and Butch clearly said that he would be honored to be considered for the UM job.

I'm not deluded that Butch is a football Messiah, but he would be an upgrade over our current coaching staff, and is the best coach that I know of that has an interest in coaching the team. The reason the UNC is still ranked in the Top 25 has more to do with Butch's recruiting while he was there than anything that UNC has done since he left.

I SUPPORT THE MIAMI HURRICANES which is why I am calling for the coach to be fired. If not now, then when???
