Am I the only one who thinks kayaa's arm is fine. The 2nd td to Wolford was a bullet, bomb to Dorsett was right there. He is the best QB since Dorsey, He's only scratching the surface this year. Canes will win a lot of games with him a QB.

NEW BLOG IS UP!

Kaaya has a good arm, but remember his weight room numbers sucked coming in here. This kid will improve to a near elite level arm during off season training.

jcane

It was great to see Jim Kelly out there again, even though he didn't speak for long. He said enough. I just hope he gets through this next hurdle, as the medical problems just keep continuing for the poor guy:

SJMPARMAN

I was glad we played well for Jim Kelly too. That guy was an awesome quarterback. I got to admit that I feel pretty good about the run this team is on. After the pain I felt earlier this season it is just nice to have a good feeling about the progress despite the record. And the more I see the teams we played do well against others just makes me think we have come further than anyone really knows.

Ohio_Cane

Lurker, I've said that since the first sign.

Lurker

Saying "we stand with Kelly, not Al" takes a big dump all over Kelly. If you stand with Kelly, say so, and then STFU. That's just using Kelly to bring attention to themselves and propagate their hate agenda

There's no doubt about it now, these dumfaulks are nothing but moronic attention whores

The other was the one from Carter.

Okay. I'm complaining that we haven't been passing the ball enough lately. Your best WR deserves more than 1 catch for 7yds. Williams and Heaps do not have any GAME REPS this season, today was a perfect day to get some reps plus they deserve it. Develop a killer instinct and try to hang a hundred on em instead of running the clock out at with 2 quarters left.

On the other hand... Art Kehoe continues to do a impressive job with the O-line! O-line is getting mean and building depth, we are able to run the ball even when the other team knows it! Duke is taking it to another level, Yearby is looking like the freshmen year Duke, and Gus is running better than he ever has and is coming into his own! But idk why Trayone isn't getting any burn? Walford is going beast mode and Kaaya is making good decisions.

Defense has made a complete turnaround and I'm VERY PROUD of the players and staff. Tackling has been a huge improvement! Players seem to understand what they are doing now and playing instead of thinking.

Coach Golden and staff are improving and has the team playing to a higher level these last few weeks, and I'm happy for them! Hope they keep it up!

Dude on a Pale Horse

Kaaya uses his arm like Andrew Luck. He can put a lot on it when he needs to.

Feel bad for Tredwell, looked like a TD to me.

Lurker

Had you been at the game (I'm not saying this to be offensive) the wind was blowing crazy, the lower you got in the bowl the more the direction was unpredictable. The wind was taking the ball in the air on some passes and kicks. Notice their QB wasn't passing much? We only had maybe 2-3 long throws. The rest were 5-20 yards. As Kayaa progresses through the offseason, his arm strength will increase, but neither QB had a SteMo arm to cut through a pretty strong and unpredictable wind like today.

At least that's how I saw it.

It's nothing wrong with throwing interceptions at times, even Tom Brady and Peyton Manning does! You wanna throw for 300-500yds more than likely you'll throw at least one pick

VA Cane

On a cold, windy, wet, muddy field, with some flecks of sleet, a warm, fundamentally sound, highly aggressive Panther team came out and ran to glory 41-0. This team was very good, but the aggression and pressure of my d was just too much. No contest. we rushed for close to 265 yards; it was unreal how strong we are coming off the ball trapping pulling in the slop. Oh, my new play went well to my TE....a TD as I thought it would.

Man we are tough in all phases and play as a team. Here's a victory to Carter and JK12!!!

Of course there was some Apocalypse Now ball involved....we knocked out the QB, 2 WRs and a LB on a killer block by my big tackle....guy stepped in on an inside handoff...BOOM! like a shotgun going off.

Leaving the field to the car, I heard a couple of their parents saying how fast strong and hard hitting we were...that they just keep coming like waves...very nice.

Their QB took a sack on a corner blitz, and my guy had his jersey and kind of slung him trying to hang on. It was 21-0 at that time, and he kind of got in my guys face....you know edgy. Jack Thomas, my boy is quiet but takes things personal. He asked me "coach, I need to make a better hit than that, I need to hit instead of grab...can I blitz again?"....I knew what he meant...next play BOOM BOOM Out go The Lights!!!!
QB did not get in his face.....he was laying on his back in LA LA Land....monster hit...guess he made a better hit.

We move on to the next round...dont worry....Then Play On!!!!

Great win by Canes, I love that run game....its what its all about. clive had a great day, duke did as well....very nice job on OL.
D is getting better more aggressive improving.

We will learn more in 2 weeks....we need to work on getting better as we have a nice break. Pretty nicw win for AQlPa staff and kids...ver pleased!!!!!

Look, UM is not in any position to be using ACC Coastal games as "tune ups" for FSU. We'll have to hope that the receivers get some reps in practice over the next two weeks.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Here's Brad's ytd stats.

Att: 233 Cmp: 144 Yds: 2,087 TD: 20 Int: 9

Unreal how good this kid is.

On average Brad will go 16 for 25 for 231 yards and will throw 2 TDs and a pick. He has a 61.8 completion percentage.

199 yards and 3 TDs is not a huge passing day, but it's not complete disuse like VT was.

Anyway, running the ball down UNC's throats was the right thing to do. Changing the game plan to get practice for a game in two weeks would be crazy.

Posted by: Go Canes | November 01, 2014 at 09:06 PM

Hey, for once I'm buying what you're selling.

UNC's offense is legit (a top 20 scoring offense), even if the whole team is not. And the D didn't give up a touchdown until UM had a 31 point lead.

SJMPARMAN

It was a strong defensive performance. Near the end of the first half, UNC had only about 20 years of total offense. The defense was quick to diagnose plays and there were none of those "how the hell did that happen" busts. And they didn't give us any freebies like VT did - we just seemed to have their play book or something. Almost all of their yards came long after the game was no longer in doubt.

I don't think it had to do with what players were in the game but more to do with us playing prevent

dj moonbat

Whatever else you want to say about North Carolina, they score some points. And they didn't manage ANY against Miami's starters.

dj moonbat

So, UNC was averaging 443 yards a game, and today they got 258 -- with more than half of that coming in deep, deep garbage time.

I didn't see the game, so I don't know if it LOOKED like a great defensive performance, but the numbers sure do.

I posted something earlier just for this type of post. Knew it was coming once we backed off and sat starters. Duke was out almost the whole 2nd half.

Feel free to go find it and tell me what it says. Had something to do with 7:12 left in the 3rd quarter.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Man, Bosh got 18 already WW.

CaneRock

Interesting...PD4 only has 3 catches for 22 yards in the last 2 games. But we've rushed 102 times, for 659 yards. Our longest drive, was the 1st drive against UNC today, 7:10.

But we got on a roll from 9:14 of the 2Q, to 7:12 of the 3Q...we scored 35 points in 13:34.

mi@mic@ne

I said that our problems were really simple to change. But it took us 3 seasons to change how we play d. When we play soft we are flat. We play on our heels..we really are wasting our greatest asset and it is our speed and athleticism. Our d line had no identity because of the soft rush. Our soft scheme was easy to dissect.
But the last few games weve been living in their backfield and getting 3 and outs. So its given us more chances to showcase our talent on offense..we are playing like Cane fans are used to seeing.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Who is Mark Walton like? He looks slowish to me.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Watch this Oregon game and imagine if they recruited So FL.

dj moonbat

Well, that was a pick-me-up. I only wish I hadn't had to catch it only on radio, and with big gaps...

I guess Duke Johnson is for real.

Dude on a Pale Horse

47-20 over UNC is totally acceptable. However, 70-20 is better.

Dude on a Pale Horse

This season has been so frustrating because I feel like we can beat anyone with our talent. A lot of people on the bootlicker side of things will try to say that I'm being disingenuous and trying to make it look like Al is doing less with more, the so called agenda if you will. That's a total crock of bs though, it's actually a big time complement to the job Al has done bringing in under the radar guys and developing them into really good players, its the same trait all of our legendary coaches share. My feeling is that Al put up 3 really sh*tty showings this year and up until VT I had no reason to believe he could not just get the most out of his team, but even just not play sloppy. Freshman QB, night games, whatever the stat of the week is, all excuses. We could of and should have won at the gery least 2 of 3 of our games, problem is we were hardly even competitive. Looking forward, this is the team I expected us to be all along, a team capable of beating FSU and winning out our last games. I'm just trying to enjoy these games for all their worth because there's only a few left then its off to the worst season of all, not football season. Its a good thing these games have been enjoyable.

mi@mic@ne

I see a lot of points being scored in the college game these days..i just think its because teams play more open offenses and pass the ball better than the old days...I dont think the defenses focus on getting to the qb tho.

Go Canes

Our last three games we've been up 41-13, 30-0 and 44-6 before sitting our starters and start trying to chew up the clock on both sides of the ball.

That's why I scratched my head when seeing the gave up 20 points-again- comment.

BigWindyCane1

UNC almost beat ND, and ND almost beat FSU. The Canes crush UNC. So what happening in FSU game? I don't know, but I can confidently say that the Canes are playing some really good football right now.

mi@mic@ne

We rushed 3 on the series they scored on in the 3rd q. I think our guys play on another level when we are pushing up field and sending 4 or 5 on the pass rush. You got to have quality speed to play our style but it shows the difference in our athletes when we press. We hit another gear

BigWindyCane1

We win out and most will be pretty thrilled considererinv how badly we botched the beginning of the season. 9-3 bowl win makes 10 means the Canes will have hit 2 of 3 of my personal markers. Winning 10 games and a bowl is major progress. We'd end the year ranked in the teens. Lots of momentum going into next season.

Posted by: The Dude | November 01, 2014 at 07:19 PM

I will take it. Win out and the Canes might be a top 10 team. Not that bad for a team that some pundits said had no talent.

What banner are you talking about? The banner Susan Miller posted was pro-UM. Was there another?

If flying banners mean we win, then fly them until the end of the season.

I'm not holding my breath on a bowl win or a nine win season. As good as the win was (huzzah), they still gave up 20 points.

LB

At least we can try to snap the bowl losing streak since 2006.

LB

UM seems to have a weird effect on some teams.

For instance, they made Va. Tech worse... and now the Hokies are terrible.

On the other hand, Duke (3) and Ga. Tech (2) are all on winning streaks... like UM.

LB

There is the option of the three-way tie with Miami, Ga. Tech, and Duke with two conference losses.

Ga. Tech beat UM.
Duke beat Ga. Tech.
UM beat Duke.

If that's the case, who knows?

But we have practically zero chance of anything if don't win out.

Dude on a Pale Horse

GT should lose to Clemson, but they have the tie breaker against us. I think VT will beat Duke but not sure if anyone else will.

LB

Duke only needs to lose once if UM wins out and Ga. Tech loses once.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: CaneRock | November 01, 2014 at 07:08 PM

Need Duke to lose twice, GT to lose once or twice and a banner to fly every game day.

LB

"What has to happen for UM to win the Coastal?"

A lot.

Best case scenario: Miami wins out (including next week), but it still isn't enough.

It needs Duke and Georgia Tech to lose.

Duke has Syracuse, Va. Tech, N. Carolina, and Wake. They all stink.

Ga. Tech has N.C. State and Clemson in conference.
