This Date in Hurricanes History, October 25th, 2001...
Brought to you by the UM Sports Hall of Fame:
Freshman Frank Gore highlighted his skills in front of a nationally televised audience by rushing for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 6 carries to lead the top-ranked Hurricanes to a 45-3 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers in front of a Thursday night crowd of 44,411 in the Orange Bowl!
Miami moved to 6-0 on the year with a balanced offense and a relentless defense that held WVU at bay, including safety James Lewis' 74 yard interception return for a touchdown.
UMSHoF member quarterback Ken Dorsey also looked impressive completing 16 of 27 passes for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Canes moved back to # 1 after a 49-27 victory the week before at FSU, a spot they would not relinquish, and finish 12-0 and capture their 5th National Championship with the Rose Bowl victory over Nebraska!

Final thoughts:
If Bubba from Clermont applies at UF and doesn't get in, and Javier from Hialeah doesn't even bother applying to UM, does that make it easier or harder to get into either school?
I rest my case.
Microphone dropped,exit to ovation.

Neither. Which was my point as well. Not enough info available

I remember going to the Miami VS VT game with my brother before Miami went to the Ship. My wife bought me round trip airfare and tickets for an early Xmas gift. It was my first game in the OB and it was an awesome one to witness, especially watching Willis Mcgahee...he was awesome! I truly think that Ken will always be Da Man for me though.

Between Gore,McGahee,Portis,James,Moss,Shockey,Johnson, & Wayne to name a few, that has to be at least 50-60Ks in the NFL. Gonna be a while before another College puts together that kind of talent.

Correction: *50-60K yards in the NFL*

Gore absolutely had a learning disibiliity. I know this for a fact. One of my friends wife worked with and tutored Gore thru high school. He really worked his butt off to get to the U. He always told her he was going to be a football player at U.

That's exactly right, sir.
Anybody around the program or him would tell you how hard he worked even after getting in. I'm so glad for his success in the NFL, but I'm not surprised as hard a worker as he is. Quality human being.

Beer, to answer your question, thus is just a guess based on some logic, assuming that most of these PhDs were in a science field, the most "scientific" MD's that I can think off are oncologists, radiation oncologists, opthamalogists, maybe radiologists. I'm just spitballing it, though.
Posted by: Lurker | October 25, 2014 at 07:30 PM
Good spitball. It is among your list.
Posted by: BEERicane | October 25, 2014 at 07:32 PM
Pathology could have made the list too.
Posted by: BEERicane | October 25, 2014 at 07:35 PM
If you're an oncologist, there is a decent probability we've met
Posted by: Lurker | October 25, 2014 at 07:35 PM
I think we should bring one more QB in this class. Not good to have just 3 QB's on schollies next year. Plus if BK growth and progression continues, no way he is here past 3 yrs. Imagine if he knew the play book down pat!!!! Heard they are giving him more freedom to call audibles which I think he did last night. If you watch the game, he changed it up a lot yo run with Duke.
With this O-line, gotta love a depth of Yearby, Gus, Scarlett, Walton and Exter. Wonder who red shirts?
Also need at least 1 TE.

You work at Sylvester, Lurker?
Posted by: BEERicane | October 25, 2014 at 07:42 PM
Yes. Pathology could be there. Lots of diversity in the career choices of physicians.
If you're familiar with GOs/FPs/IMs - here's a joke for you:
Why are doctors such poor dressers?
Because pharma companies don't give out clothes
Posted by: Lurker | October 25, 2014 at 07:45 PM
Ok, not a Med oncology.
But, I am familiar with your specialty on a personal basis. A specific practice of course.
Posted by: Lurker | October 25, 2014 at 07:47 PM
No I dont. But I've spent time at Sylvester

Posted by: Lurker | October 25, 2014 at 07:50 PM
True. They are the roughest treatments to endure from a radiation standpoint of all disease sites. But it's worth it. Even in the most advanced (locoregional) stages, cure is not only possible, it's likely so we accept all of those horrible side effects.
Posted by: BEERicane | October 25, 2014 at 08:15 PM
Glad the treatment is behind you and you are well. Cheers, mate.

I thought Lurker was some sort of engineer or architect, based off His explanation of that HS stadium in Texas that had those structural cracks in it.

Down goes Ole Miss. Only scoring 7 pts on the road.

Yeah we know all of our 3 loses this year was due to circumstances, and circumstances only!

Posted by: SOUP | October 25, 2014 at 11:36 PM
Ole Miss has a great defense, but I've never been impressed with their offense. When's the last time they even had a good offense, the Eli Manning era?
Posted by: CaneRock | October 25, 2014 at 11:54 PM
Ohio State about to go down to Penn State in OT.
Posted by: Go Canes | October 25, 2014 at 11:56 PM
And real talk, I like our chances against either Mississippi team.
Posted by: CaneRock | October 25, 2014 at 11:56 PM
@YahooForde: Ohio State escapes. And is even less Playoff-worthy than before the game.
