BREAKING: Per source, Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer has demoted offensive coordinator / associate head coach George McDonald. Moving forward, quarterbacks coach Tim Lester will call the plays. Syracuse has lost their last three games and scored just three offensive touchdowns during that stretch. The offense was only able to kick two field goals in Friday night’s 28-6 loss to Louisville. McDonald is in his second year on the staff. He served as the wide receivers coach at the University of Miami in 2011 and 2012, briefly joined Bret Bielema’s staff at Arkansas before landing the coordinator position at Syracuse. Lester served as the head coach at Elmhurst College from 2008-2012 before joining Shafer’s staff. From 2005-2006, Lester coached the quarterbacks at Western Michigan while Shafer was the Broncos defensive coordinator. Remember him ?

It was tough falling asleep after seeing the "Exorcist" for the first time in the movies. Even scarier was the 1932 classic, "Island of Lost Souls", starring Charles Laughton, Bela Lugosi, and an array of real live "freaks". However, neither horror movie was as disturbing (to me) as Saturday night's game at GT. In truth I didn't fall asleep until about 3:30 am, because I just couldn't stop thinking about UM's "Nightmare on Defense III".

Nemo, you too! I keep seeing that old @$$ gold rambling wreck car being drove by that unnamed full back and it wakes me up in cold sweats!

So GT showed UM stuff they've never seen (like a triple option offense we play against every year), the night road games effected us (cause you know, no other team has those) and Go Canes is STILL saying we are not on a "level playing field"!
Go Canes, I am glad you feel the staff is failing, but why do you STILL make sure to throw in there things like "level playing field" and how the other teams circle us and how we had chances etc... stop trying to give this staff life lines, they will NEVER, EVER get it done.... EVER!
We ARE on a level playing field with the cloud way behind us. We have out-recruited Louisville and GT even with the sanction talk, we have had a defensive system in place 4 years and offense for two, no big coaching changes etc so WE HAVE BEEN ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD!!!
It is truly unbelievable how a D1 staff can be so incompetent and still keep their jobs. Seeing in person made it worse for me. Kaaya made some freshman mistakes and the O could of did more, but hard to score a lot of points when you barely have the ball. I cannot believe a University of Miami team could not stop the pitch/option. There were NO DB's, safeties, LB's etc there to string it out... and I wonder why... oh yeah cause they were lined up out of position!! Do any of you follow "caneflexin" on Instagram? he posted a lot of still frame pics from that game and it is just scary. He showed the 2002 OSU game when they had the ball at the two. Miami had 7 guys on he LOS with the DB's and safeties up... he split this shot with a shot of Miami against GT when the ball was on the 1. We had 4 guys on the LOS, the LB's 4-5 yards deep in the end zone and DB's spread wide. This staff is just horrible, mainly Golden/D'No. I dont EVER EVER wanna hear how the scheme is to complicated for players... I can promise you D'No is not that freaking smart.
Thank goodness for good tailgating with good people, makes the pain more bearable.

I'm not saying level playing field, I'm saying whst I feel the administration is thinking.
Posted by: Go Canes | October 06, 2014 at 07:15 AM
Don't think Al is reading the space unless he's not being truthful--from Barry. LQ has the cuse coaching change, USA today had story on tcu changing their whole offensive philosophy but after 3.5 years of bad defense, Al still thinks his scheme and his man crush are just fine. Move along nothing to see here, all is well...
# Asked Sunday why UM didn't stack the box more Saturday against Georgia Tech, Al Golden said: "This is the best way to play them in our opinion."... He said nothing to suggest that he believes Miami's schemes need to be changed. Instead, as usual, he blamed "execution" for Miami's inability to stop Georgia Tech from converting on third down... Golden said he wants to keep this loss in perspective, noting that Georgia Tech's point total was fewest it has scored against Miami in three years."... Asked about fan anger, he said: "I don't listen to anything."

The tailgate was great, was like our own little Cane world lol... did anyone else notice how quiet the GT tailgates were? Good food, good music, great view, gorgeous weather and more importantly great people... really had a blast.

SOUP, between TSully, KY, 1982 and myself I think we got a good amount of pics for you. I will try to email some.
Also, for those on Instagram, follow "utailgate" had a lot of great pics from the deck we were on.

Funniest part of the night for me.... Duke reels off a big run and the guy sitting behind TSully says something to the effect of "who is number 8" or "who was that".. IDK the exact words but TSully slowly and calmly turns around and says "man, thats Duke Johnson!!" (he may have said other words) and all the dude said was "ok... you dont have to yell at me" hahaha

Miami at GT 2014 although it was a bust at the box office in Miami. It scared the sh!t out of me. Now I do think the epic FSU at Miami being released in November might be to scary to watch.

But in the Comedy genre it is great to watch the weekly Golden postgame press conference on Saturdays. I believe kids pay 10 cents to get in to see this each week.

I fear he may very well get this season and next, though not to prove anything. If he keeps his job it will be a financial decision, not a football decision.

86,
I have flipped and no longer will let myself be known as a boot licker (used to be proud of that). I also don't believe myself to be a "Hater" So, I suggest that we go with (some already suggested but I don't know who to give the credit to) "Truthers" not "Haters." I suggest this name change because it is blatantly clear now that the truth is Golden and his staff are holding this team back.
To Golden: Al, I thank you for steering this program through some turbulent times that you were not made aware of when taking the job. I thank you for the recruiting that you were able to do during those times. I thank you for the kind words you have said about the program, school, and south florida community. BUT you can not coach and your services are no longer need. Get out now. Thank you and please let the door slam you in the a$$ on the way out. Good Bye you are the weakest link. Your Fired. and whatever cliché thing can be said to make you leave.

We need to get it fix
Players need to trust their training
We didn't execute the plays that were called

Cincinnati at home this week, with their starting QB out should be an easy win.
But like FAMU and Arkansas State will tell us nothing about how good we are.
FSU is a loss, so 8-4 is now the upside,
7-5 most realistic, 6-6 is the down side.
It is what it is...

Oh and he said the defense they emloyed was the best way to stop the triple option and he wouldn't change anything if he had the chance to do it over again. I believe him. He wouldn't.

The one that takes the cake, is Him saying that the FB in the TO doesn't beat you. Yeah, ask the kids from the 2008 team if Jonathan Dwyer & Lucas Cox didn't gash their @$$e$ on 20 carries/206 yards!

WINNING!
Posted by: pbcfrcane13 | October 06, 2014 at 08:45 AM
I was asking TSully and KY this at the game... does anyone know if it is normal to have a RB on your kick off coverage? Obviously on the return team is normal... but on coverage? Edwards whiffed on a tackle on a return and I just wondering why a RB is in there to make tackles. TSully said it was the only way to get him on the field lol

Omar was killing the coaching staff. He almost had big head crushing Al too.
It can't be that everyone who sees this garbage has an agenda or is a hater. maybe its the blind loyalty shown by the botlickers that is the problem? if you can't identify a problem you'll never be able to fix it. And no one, not even GC can deny their is a problem.
Posted by: Bermuda Triangle | October 06, 2014 at 08:50 AM
IMO, if we can get a decent HC who either knows how to run a defense or is smart enough to hire someone who does, we have the size, speed and talent to win NOW... maybe not national title next year now, but definitely ACC title game now
