mi@mic@ne,

That's downhill defense. That's attacking with your front 4 and getting pressure on the QB and forcing the ball out so your DBs don't have to sit in coverage forever. It also means when you get a turnover you have a convoy going the other way.

So there actually was a time when we knew how to play football?

USAFCane

The big question:

Will the players keep giving their all? With the coaching and players quitting, the Canes might not win another game. only the talent will keep a winning season.

Lose the fans, games and the players and with a new President, AG 's time might be up. We can hope.

mi@mic@ne

Yes the dline is a track meet to the qb rite up the gut and the linebackers are coming hard around the ends ...the d backs are in position to attack the ball when the receiver comes down the middle so when they pick it off they are running full speed to the endzone... thats the standard we used to have in the old days.

When I seen #17 in the game attempting to catch a pass in the red zone during a critical time in the game I said, "what da hell is Tyriq McCord doing playing WR now!" but then I thought about it and said, "well I guess since he's been covering so many WR'S he probably knows how to run routes now!"

mi@mic@ne

When the the answers to the problems are simple the excuses get in the way. Their philosophy of defense doesnt work. period.

Ever kid that came out of high school was a nobody as a college player...until he was put in the 4 3 and taught to go full speed...then he became a star. period.

that was then this is now

I basically quit watching the game after GT answered our first drive for a TD, with one of their own. Same old dog and pony show.
Let's all face the facts, we can dissect it all we want too but the fact is, we are between a 50 and 60 rated football team. We can beat the cream puffs and once in a wile we can rise up and dare I say upset a team like Duke. Now that is pitiful to have to say but some time the truth hurts.
We will never be back, as long as DENo is calling the shots. There is no consistency, there are no world beaters on that side of the ball, as far as talent, well maybe a couple. Plain and simple, until we start getting some real talent on that defensive front and LB we couldn't stop a toilet leak.
Kaaya is going to make mistakes, I can live with that, being that he is a true FR. but we also don't have to be so vanilla and predictable at times. I watch these other teams play and wonder how they have no problem of getting the ball into their playmakers hands and we make it rocket science. We have a 4.2 guy at WR and he maybe touches the ball 2 to 3 times a game, same with Coley. I see Cooper from Bama and just dream about what he could of been for us and he's catching passes at a record pace even with a new QB. For those of U bent on waiting for next year how is it going to be any better? Defensively we could be worse, well maybe not if Goldie has the nuts to fire DENO. This is the absolute worse 10 years of football.
We all can agree Defense is where we suk and you only have to look at what we have verballed to see a trend, once again, DT & DB are not really represented. A combination of talent, recruiting & coaching wins games and right now on a scale of one to ten, I'd rate recruiting at a 7, talent at a 6.5 and coaching at a 4 and that might be a kind estimate. We gut gutted again on Nat'l TV. I guess the tv stations need a laugher game each week and that's why we get to play in it.

You know what pisses me off when I watch other team's games? When the color circles an offensive or defensive play and shows you how smart the play is, I can't remember the last time someone did that for a Miami game when they weren't showing our cushion or the fact that we weren't chipping the center.

Hell, our safties are lined up 15 yds from the line of scrimmage and as soon as the ball is hiked they've backed up another 10yds. You have a team like GT, that basically passes only when it has to and we have our safties that deep. I guess when we play FSU who throws the ball all over the field, we'll have 8 men in the box.

You look at talent and recruiting and we all know Duke and GT are not in the same area code as us, so it comes down to one thing coaching, they do more with less and although we recruit pretty good, there are areas in that department that remain inept at and that to is what's holding us back.

When the 2014 season started, SEC fans wondered whether a one-loss champion from their league would get into the inaugural College Football Playoff over an undefeated champion from another league.

Maybe it's time to wonder whether two-loss champions from the Pac-12 and SEC (or any of the other Power 5 conferences) will make the playoffs.

After one of the wildest weekends in college football history, nothing seems to be clear when it comes to the sport's new playoff. Who's in? Who's out?

Heck, who's going to win next week?

This past weekend, 11 of the teams in The Associated Press Top 25 poll fell, including five of the top eight (Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and UCLA). Only one other time in the 78-year history of the AP poll had 11 ranked teams lost in the same week.

Thus, it was an active week for The Eliminator, which will narrow the FBS field from 128 teams to four to determine the participants of the inaugural College Football Playoff.

Say goodbye to six more teams, including SEC heavyweights LSU and South Carolina. Previously unbeaten BYU has also been eliminated from playoff consideration, along with Maryland, NC State and Wisconsin. After six weeks of the season, 101 of the 128 FBS teams have been eliminated from playoff consideration.

'Canes legend Brett Romberg (AUDIO): "I think the whole thing needs to be gutted and changed right now. As long as Al Golden is gonna be at the helm of the University of Miami, I feel that D'Onofrio is gonna be at the helm of Miami because Al Golden will not fire his friend D'Onofrio. Therefore, if you do want to change the program around, if you wanna create sparks, if you wanna put people in the seats, you need to spend money on a primetime head coach... At this point, we have no other choice. We need to bring in a former family member like Butch Davis...Rob Chudzinski... If we keep going down this path, this school will be lost in the next 4 or 5 years as a football program."
