Butch is the same age as Saban. And 5 years younger that Spurrier. Golden had his chance and that same year Miami have Shannon a extension they fired him. Nobody is safe. Though Donna might love Al and despise Butch it may never happen.

Ohio- be very careful with that source you quoted earlier on Golden's contract, he has been around UM boards forever. Just saying.

Ohio, I personally can't blame Mario 4 the move. If anything, goldenifrio should be working 4 Mario. I know Mike Barrows is taking care if his ailing mom, but is it possible he too saw the writing on the wall?

He's no "source". That was from his twitter account. Just posting what I read from a pretty prominent media member who knows the #'s game in sports and contracts, being a sports agent, with (I'm assuming) a law degree, that's all.

WITW did Treon Harris do?!
Posted by: CaneRock | October 06, 2014 at 12:49 PM
Golden said. "There is a lot of blame to go around."
WOW...How about blaming the guy in the MIRROR!
He is the HEAD COACH at the U of MIAMI!
And this is not his freshman season.....
If you are HEAD COACH @ Da U, then you need to be ready for prime time (night games-day games-away games-sand lot-any place any day!)

I think the AD wanted him to fire some coaches, he said no and was let go ? Wow. .. #irony
Whatever he did Muschamp didn't have his Monday pressure and he was suspended indefinitely speaking of young Treon.

Maybe they are pulling LB move, packing for annual trip to PA or NJ and NEVER coming back. Are there any moving trucks in the area?

Let me say thank you to UMike for the directions to the parking. We had a blast with other Miami fans and I have to say that the Miami fans showed up and were LOUD. But even from SEC 229, we could see that dive play open constantly. THe center and guards were free to block the LBs on every play and we played 2 safeties deep? Why? Why? Why?
I am flabbergasted at why we played defense so poorly. We clearly had better talent than GT. Clearly better talent.
It is clear to me now that coaching is our problem. I don't know if Golden can fire his friend, but I do know that a real man admits his mistakes and owns his faults. I have been hearing far too much blaming the players from these guys.

Go Canes,
I said nothing about attendance. These types of comprehensive lapses plus a reply as if you know it all = Giant Douche...

Excerpt from 247 Sports:
"The University of Florida confirmed Monday afternoon that freshman quarterback Treon Harris is "accused of sexually assaulting a female student early Sunday morning in a residence hall on the UF campus." The University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) and the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) are investigating the incident, with GPD assisting in the collection and analysis of forensic evidence, according to a press release.
The release states that the "investigation is ongoing and we do not have an update regarding any charges at this time. The University of Florida and the University Athletic Association are cooperating fully."
Harris has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities."

Fire NOFENSE and maybe FOLDEN will quit
Posted by: SinisterCane | October 06, 2014 at 01:13 PM
If Golden fires D'No, he is basically admitting HIS defensive philosophy is a failure. The is why the players and/or offense, or ANY thing else gets the blame and not D'No or the scheme. It is THEIR scheme, not D'Nos. Problem is even right now he still 100% believes his scheme is working and will work.

I love the "no excuses" line which is always followed up by new and creative excuses
Posted by: UMike | October 06, 2014 at 01:23 PM
To the UM Administration,
Alums, current students, former players and the entire fan base is unanimous, Golden has to go now. Just listen everywhere, open your ears widely:
http://wqam.com/2014/10/06/manny-navarro-16/
Mario Cristobal is a very good candidate plus he has 2 more years of experience at Alabama, former UM great player, intelligent, knows Miami's backyard very very well. He is an excellent coach at Alabama and he did well at FIU.
http://wqam.com/2014/10/06/manny-navarro-16/
President Shalala, Blake James and the board of trustees need to make a change now. Many of us won't go to games until the proper change is made. It's the first time since 1979 my freshman year at UM that i have to take this kind of position. I love the Canes (die hard fan) and UM is very special for me and will always be. We can't support mediocrity any longer, we have done it for a decade now. The Change is now. James Coley should be the interim coach for the moment. Jethro Franklin should be the interim coach of the defense which means D'Onofrio also has to go now.

Blame the players
Blame the weather
Blame the cloud
Blame the players again

Ohio, several UM fans have tried to verify that he is an attorney without any luck. He was an agent for a few years (at best), represented Donnell Bennett and nobody else that anyone could verify. He is the spotter for a sports radio network that covers NFL games, but his claims of being a real reporter conflict with other details that he claims about his past. He may be right about the cost to buy out Golden, but until I hear it from Reynolds or someone who actually does investigative reporting I'm not buying it.

All this talk about wheel routes, execution, the FB can't beat you, blah blah blah...is HOGWASH! I'd respect Al Golden more if He came out and said they KICKED OUR @$$!...they WANTED IT MORE! Same with NU, they KICKED OUR @$$! up & down the field. You don't stay on the field as long as GT did, if they're not KICKIN' YOUR @$$!

THe UM fans were and are great. Had a great time! Wish we had won, hell we should have won....but to be honest the way we play D, my 320lbs fat slow asthmatic ass with bad back and two bad knees could run the dive play for 150 yards!
Posted by: badbart | October 06, 2014 at 01:38 PM
LMAO! I'm listening to Joe Rose, and He's talking about out routes...SHEEZ! Well what about the 60+ times that they ran it down ya' throat, TALK ABOUT THAT!

I feel like I have nothing to add because I've been saying all of this for years now. Covering grass, everyones a safety, can't coach their own D well enough, time restrictions, on and on. The only thing worth talking about is who the new coach will be. Golden isn't a championship coach. Giving him 2015 is wasting everyone's time.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | October 06, 2014 at 01:57 PM
And EFFF that kiss A$$ Joe Rose he needs to grow some balls or take Golden's sack from his mouth and start asking him some tuff questions
Posted by: SinisterCane | October 06, 2014 at 01:57 PM
I am 0-3 watching the Canes in the state of Ga. I will no longer base my joy on Canes football until the used car salesman posing as a coach is showed the door. I picked my son up from FGCU and drove up to ATL on Friday. Canes game Saturday and Sunday morning we drove to Jville to see the Stillers. After the Stillers game it was a 5 1/2 hour drive to return him to campus and an additional 90 min drive for me to return home to Sunrise. I am sitting at home watching a replay of the game and although I know the outcome, I am cussing up a storm! WTF has happened to our once proud program?

Sorry, but you CAN NOT put this on the coaching staff, especially the D-Coordinator.
G-tech had a week to prep for the Canes.
How was the coaching staff supposed to tell the future and know that G-tech would run the triple option the entire game?
Posted by: Gin & Tonic | October 06, 2014 at 02:04 PM
Just to be clear. Maryland invented the bubble screen. Logan Thomas invented the forward pass. GT invented the triple option. Can't blame Al for those loses when the game is being reinvented before your eyes. Lol. Should I repost that thing I put together showing that Al has NEVER had success with his D unless he was playing the worst Os in the country? It will be funny to watch Go Canes argue it again.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | October 06, 2014 at 02:13 PM
