LMAO! Johnson's talking about the physical nature of the game, and Golden's talking about out routes & wheel routes LMAO!

Louisville ran the ball down ya' throats BECAUSE THEY COULD!

NU ran the ball down ya' throats BECAUSE THEY COULD!

GT ran the ball down ya' throats BECAUSE THEY COULD!

Maybe if the Admin fires NOFENSE It may force Al to quit since he can't be without his boo

Golden deserves credit for getting us through "The Cloud". He deserves more time to get it right and get it fixed.

You can't fix cluelessness and if you can't admit the fault is yours you won't get it fixed. Golden is waiting for a class of all 5*s who will execute error free. And that's not going to happen.

I agree, he does, and he will.

Firing D'No has become mandatory tho, past the point of no return for him IMO.

But it is GOLDENS defense and defensive philosophy. If he were to fire D'No, the only way things would change is if he agreed to keep his hands off and let the new DC run the defense... which seems highly unlikely. If he was smart he would dump D'No, use him as the scapegoat (which he is a pro at) and then bring in a new DC and let him run the show on D with NO input from Golden. Ohio said it the other day and I agree.

What you dont understand is I have no problem with "the scheme" itself. Being multiple is what you want to be. I have more of a problem with the in game play calls.

It's ok if he abandons HIS philosophy, Butch did it. Remember, Butch firing his DC after the 4th season after all the crying fans did, after the banners, after EVERYONE wanted him gone, after saying he wont change, he cant get us to the top, etc.

Itsa_Canes_Thing

If the coach can't suck it up and admit their mistakes whether it be personnel or scheme then he doesn't deserve to he a HC. Al needs to fire D'No admit his mistakes reaffirm his commitment to the U by hiring an established D1 coordinator and get be hands off.

I agree with you but any new coordinator is going to want his own position coaches, I hope the U guillotines the entire defensive staff

UMike

30.. I agree with being multiple, but its obvious whatever scheme they run, it dont work and they are incapable of adjustments. I mean keeping safeties back and lbs back against a team that throws like 3 times a game lol, it just is almost unbelievable that they never changed the alignment even on 3rd and short... just mind blowing.

Canezitis

Who do we get to replace golden if they fire him besides butch or schianno?
Who do we get if they keep him but fire Dno? What do you guys think are realistic options for both scenarios?

1mg of epi

Joaquin Gonzalez on the radio yesterday said he's been around Greentree a lot this year, and what he has seen and heard is that the defensive players are going into games confused. They're unable to react because they're having to think too much. DP pretty much said the same thing when he mentioned that defensive meetings sound like another language. The stubborness... just so frustrating.

CaneRock

UL,NU, & GT ran the ball 162 times for 791 yards.

NU & GT attempted a grand total of 20 passes, completed 11 of em', for a WHOPPING! 166 yards!

MULTIPLE?!

LMAO!

UMike

Im not sure what the obsession is with "Miami" guys, like former coaches. Im not smart enough to know other good coaching canidates, I would just like someone who can recruit South Florida, and understand the South Florida athletes and dont handcuff them. Bring in a DC and OC that can also use this talent.

Go Canes

Let's double the NU & GT completions & attempts to 22 completions & 332 yards...and let's reduce their rushing #s by about 50 carries 200 yards.

What would you rather give up, 332 passing yards?...or rounding it off, 600 yards rushing?...pick ya' poison.

### Add Gino Torretta to the growing list of former players who are questioning decisions made by UM’s coaching staff.

Appearing this morning with Jonathan Zaslow and Joy Taylor on 104.3 The Ticket, Torretta said:

“You feel bad for the current players. You know there's talent there. People say why are [former players] being negative? When you watch certain things during the game, you say: Why isn't he taught this? Why isn't the adjustment made? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

“What we're not seeing is instincts. When you have guys that can run that are talented and are fast --- teach them a few things well and let them go out and play. [You] don't see guys making plays, being instinctual and being able to use one of their greatest assets, which is speed.”

Torretta said his teams “played aggressive. We attacked.” He said this defense requires a lot of thinking, where “if you don't get the quarterback, you have to catch the guard and center and look in backfield and figure out what's going on. And the linebacker has to figure out which guy is being blocked….

“You see it. I see it. The frustrating thing is we want to see improvement. We don't want to see the same mistakes and we don't want to be told we're 9-0 against scheme and four of those wins are against Army and Navy.”

He said the greatest coaches “are able to adjust their schemes to the personnel.”

His confidence Golden will get this turned around?

“It can't be any higher than five,” he told Zaslow and Taylor. “You can’t tell me we don’t have some players on the team. The only team that has beaten us in recruiting in the ACC is FloridaState. If that’s the case, shouldn’t we be beating those teams?”

Torretta called the Michigan State-Nebraska game on radio Saturday night and “all I could think about was how frustrated I was watching Nebraska --- a one-dimensional run the ball team and we let a one-dimensional run the ball team do exactly what they wanted to do against us and beat us.”

Go Canes with the "revisionist history" dig? Classic! Tell us more Swami!

UM needs a new DC and a STC AT A MINIMUM. Both of those roads lead back to Golden.

What was revisionist? That Golden tried to run out on UM last January??

We've all given Golden credit for EVERYTHING he did prior to making a play for the PSU gig. Once he tried to abandon The U was when The U's debt to Golden was paid in full.

I can't wait to read your absurd "we're back" bullshyt after Miami beats a crappy Cincinnati team with no QB!

Win one...lose one...win one...lose one...it's who UM is until they abort this coaching staff. If it takes 2-3 years to get rid of this staff then strap in bootlickers, it's gonna be a long ride dealing with reality.

I guess the big question is what if Cinci beats us and we make their backup QB look like a 5*?? Tell he we haven't done something like this in the past.

One of the girls I coached just made the middle school basketball team as a 6th grader and she thanked me for teaching her!! I swear that makes me wanna tear up... if only these kids knew how they impact me, they assume its the other way around. Can wait to go watch my lil ballers play in middle school.

Go Canes

The revisionist history is that Golden had no where else to go. That is completely incorrect.

When we were hiring, he and Dan Mullen were the two hot young coaches a ton of programs were interested in. After this NCAA mess broke, had he wanted to bolt, a ton of schools would have snatched him up.

Aside from a faction that wanted Mike Leach, who's team scored 59 points last week, and lost, most people were thrilled to get either one of those two coaches.

Regardless of what has happened here or will happen in the future, let's not make it seem like we gave some loser coach with no resume a shot and it backfired. There were plenty of schools interested.

If by the end of 15 he's gone, then we start over. But those expecting Butch, Chud or Schiano better be prepared to be very, very disappoinetd.

They are not going to hire Butch back, Chud has proven over and over again he wants to be in the NFL and Schiano is never going to coach here at the $2-$3 million some people are throwing out there.

That guy has already coached at the highest level and every indication is that's where he wants to stay.

I thought that might work out for U!

UMike

And the University doesnt owe Golden shyt!!! They are paying him MILLIONS of dollars every year to do a job he is constantly under performing at. And will STILL pay him if fired... yea poor Al Golden

Sarasota 'cane

I don't care who they hire as long as it isn't a no-name loser that UM picks up on the cheap. It's gonna take about 6 million a year for the coach, coordinators, and position coaches if we want quality at the low end, more if we are firmly committed to winning.

Butch's name keeps coming up because he wants the job. He is also the most qualified candidate under UM's circumstances, plus he's a proven commodity.

Remember that UM has to get the quality coaches off of the "dented can" isle at the Dollar Store. Butch is probably the best "dented can" available. Schiano is a good name, but he has shown no interest in coaching UM at this point.

And yeah we made a mistake about Leach, but there's no telling what he would've done with the Shapiro crap. I think the UM boosters are a lot closer to making a move than many of you think. It wouldn't be fair to the new President to saddle them with this nightmare when there are viable solutions to the problem ready for the taking.

A new coach could turn this mess around in a year or two, but that clock doesn't start ticking until UM pulls the trigger. (IMO)

Coming from a guy who goes to ZERO games.

The funny thing is if I leave, someone will notice and call me to renew my seats.

If you leave, well, can you really leave someplace you've never been?

Give me a break you clown. I'll be going to games whether he is here or gone, this year, the next and the decade after theat.

So save your hashtagging for someone like you, who doesn't actually support the team but screams buyout with other people's money.

No, I dont agree. He is not asking you or commenting about you leaving because you are or arent a "real" fan, its because your blind loyalty to Golden... he is just suggesting you follow Golden lol Do you know why he never goes to games? (if even true)...but you always retreat to the "I go to games" stuff like that makes you better than those that dont/cant.

Go Canes

Posted by: UMike | October 07, 2014 at 12:14 PM

And to answer truthfully, with ANY other big time program in this country that answer is a resounding yes.

Nearly every big time program sells out every game, travels 20,000 plus on the road to any meaningful game, and twice that many to bowls.

Still remember the Jacory game in Orlando where there had to be 40,000+ Wisconsin fans at some middle of the road bowl game during the heart of the holidays.

Miami is one of the only ones where no one goes to games but everyone has an opinion.

UMike

Go Canes.. going to games has ZERO to with someones level of fandom. My grandmother is the biggest UM fan I know, but she has never gone to a single game and probably cannot name a single player, but if not for her I wouldnt be a fan. Every week she had the game on, screaming at the tv, or on the radio if we were driving. She barely understands the game, but her heart belong to the Canes come Saturday. So is she not a fan?

Go Canes

Yes she is.

The difference between me and some of you is I would never ask her to leave anywhere because of what she knows or doesn't know, why she roots for them or who she has "blind loyalty" to.

That is saved only for people some of you disagree with.
