WKRP in Cincinnati is an American situation comedy television series that features the misadventures of the staff of a struggling fictional radio station in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show was created by Hugh Wilson and was based upon his experiences working in advertising sales at Top 40 radio station WQXI (AM) in Atlanta. Many of the characters and even some of the stories (including the season 1 episode 7 "Turkeys Away") are based on people and events at WQXI.[1]
The ensemble cast consists of Gary Sandy, Howard Hesseman, Gordon Jump, Loni Anderson, Tim Reid, Jan Smithers, Richard Sanders and Frank Bonner.[2]
The series won a Humanitas Prize and received 10 Emmy Award nominations, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series. Andy Ackerman won an Emmy Award for Videotape Editing in season 3.
WKRP premiered September 18, 1978 on the CBS television network, and aired for four seasons and 88 episodes through April 21, 1982. During the third and fourth seasons, CBS repeatedly moved the show around its schedule, contributing to lower ratings and its eventual cancellation.
When WKRP went into syndication, it became an unexpected success, despite not reaching the desired number of 100 episodes for daily stripping. For the next decade, it was one of the most popular sitcoms in syndication, outperforming many programs which had been more successful in prime time, including all the other MTM Enterprises sitcoms.

@ByTimReynolds: Every "Golden Canes" level of donor to Miami athletics has honored their commitment for the year. The banner probably won't do much.

But will they honor their committments next year with this 'offensive' staff!?

Another great CS article. Good info being posted. A lot of talk coming out of The U and to me that says changes are coming. I agree with 'Sota. Butch is the best AVAILABLE candidate whether The U thinks so or not. God I hope we can finish this season with some kind of respectful ending. We NEED a new defensive staff/philosophy. I think we will have that in 2015. I just dont know who. I'd really like Randy as our DC. I think his worst finish ever is 28th as a DC. Otherwise he was always in the Top 10. Too bad that's a bigger dream than Butch.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | October 10, 2014 at 12:21 PM
I was watching the UCF game last night and I have to say I really like the DC from BYU.....If you give that guy some athletes, that defense would be fun to watch!!!!

Good stuff:
@ByTimReynolds: Booster I spoke with is livid with me. "Critics of this team make (bleep) of themselves to get attention & you give it to them." Fair point.
Posted by: Go Canes | October 10, 2014 at 12:36 PM
@ByTimReynolds: And to be further fair, that booster was talking about the over the top stuff, not real and valid arguments.

Kirby Smart is an outstanding football coach and although Nick Saban developed the defensive scheme and philosophy, don’t discount any part of Smart’s achievements.
From coaching search. He seems to get it. . (Kirby smart)

So Golden's relationship with D'Onofrio is "strained","frustrating","not on the same page"...D'onofrio is "divisive".
And then Golden likes to throw Coley under the bus every opportunity He gets...sounds like a lotta people on the staff have their own, wait for it...#AGENDA.
If He can't unite His coaching staff, what makes ya'll think He can unite 85 scholarship players...

Head Coaches have over a 100 players and coaches under them. You actually think they can watch everything that they do? This was a academic problem at unc that Butch had NOTHING to do with. Why would the ncaa let Butch off the hook, you think they give a F about him? They love hanging coaches! This is all about Butch leaving for Cleveland and they still can't get over it 13yrs later! Which he did nothing wrong when he left.

WWIN...sometimes you cannot see the obvious even when it is right in front of you.
1. Nobody here said that there are not racisits out there in society or that racism does not exist.
2. What was said is that you cannot play the "race card" here on Canespace.
There is a clear and obvious difference to any intelligent, well informed and clear thinking person out there. Don't U agree?

I don't begrudge Butch even 1% for leaving.
He did what any man does in his position. Not taking the Cleveland job, a contract that set him and generations to follow up for life would have been foolish.
Just doubt he'll be back.
Posted by: Go Canes | October 10, 2014 at 01:39 PM
First off I would love to have butch come back but I won't be heart broken if the Admin selects someone else if Golden gets the Ax. JJ left for Dallas, Erickson left for Seattle and Butch for Cleveland, on the surface they look the same but the only HC who would be welcome back is JJ. I understand D.E. had some personal issue off the field and the U thought he was HC of Sons of Anarchy but didn't Butch steer the U through a cloud that weren't caused by his actions of his own?
Posted by: SinisterCane | October 10, 2014 at 01:40 PM

Some irony in the Butch Davis story? One of the reasons he and UM could not come to a contract agreement was due to the money he would be owed should he be let go. One of his reasons he was worried was because of the "fickle" fans.....he mentioned the banner that was flown.
"I talked it over with my wife. You live a little bit in fear. I thought, 'Well, today they love me, but in 1997 they were flying a plan

I would hope if Butch came back to the U that he would try to sway all recruits. No body is a safe bet until they sign on the dotted line.
I remember Butch having problems with the U agreeing to the contract at the same time that Cleveland came calling. So it goes both ways.
The fact is that while Butch was at UNC he out recruited Randy. Butch was Jimmys d coordinator and he recruited all those great defenses when Jimmy was here. Jimmy had the best defenses of all the Cane coaches.
