University of Miami message boards are on fire this week with anger, bitterness and disappointment after last weeks loss to Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
Your Miami Hurricanes had a chance to swat the Yellow Jackets into submission but instead got overrun and stung repeatedly by the Tech triple option offense.
And all this with the ACC Coastal Division just sitting there and ripe for the taking. Yet, once again Miami put itself into a rather unfavorable position in the conference title chase by losing to Georgia Tech.
Hurricane fans who prepped for the game on the upper deck were encouraged NOT to jump after the game when they became overwhelmed with grief after losing to the Jackets only one week after being filled with pure joy that resulted from Miami's clear and convincing win over Duke.
Just a week after playing aggressive, attacking defense that stymied the Blue Devils, Miami looked like they were playing in roller skates on ice as they resumed their passive approach to stopping the other team from scoring.
This week Cincinnati comes to town to take on UM at Sun Life Stadium. As always, Canespace will be on hand for "kegs and eggs" all of the usual festivities as we tailgate at E5 in the early morning prior to the noon game against the Bearcats.
We hope to see all of you positive and optimistic Hurricane fans there!

Carter Hucks, a third-grader from Charleston, South Carolina, is getting a chance to live out a dream this week in Coral Gables.
He’s hanging with the Hurricanes.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out to University of Miami officials two weeks ago to bring Hucks and his parents to South Florida so he could spend a few days with their favorite football team.
Diagnosed with Fanconi anemia — a rare genetic blood disorder — back in May, the eight-year old boy is scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant on Oct.21. But first, he’ll get to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Coach Al Golden said injured receiver Rashawn Scott is considering seeking a medical redshirt for this season.
The 6-3, 205-pound senior injured his shoulder/clavicle during a scrimmage in fall camp and has yet to play a down this season.
Golden said because of the depth Miami has at receiver — and the fact several young players have stepped up — it would make sense for Scott to sit out.
“We’re going to do what’s best for Rashawn,” Golden said. “But make no mistake he’s been working hard. He’s been trying to get back. We’re just being very cautious with it. It’s a tricky little deal up here in this area that we generally only see in automobile accidents. That’s all I can share with you.”

### Clinton Portis today joined the long list of former Hurricanes with critical comments about the UM coaching staff.
“When the linebackers are five, six yards [back] and safeties are 15 yards deep and the cornerbacks are playing off,... you are never going to stop the run,” Portis told Jonathan Zaslow and Joy Taylor on The Ticket. “You would think we are playing a run and shoot team from the alignment of our players.”
Offensively, Portis criticized the staff for not throwing more to Phillip Dorsett. “I don’t feel they use him the correct way,” he said.
Portis said with the amount of playmakers UM has, “you feel like there should be more plays made. That quick screen we’re using, that doesn’t work for us. Talent is not being used. We have to put our players in better position.
"I want Joseph Yearby and Duke Johnson on the field together and spread everybody out. No way I’m going to allow you to stack the box to stop Duke Johnson. You’ve got to put your team in a better position.”
UM is 79th of 125 teams in scoring, at 27.5 per game.

Miami has several talented players on offense, but for some reason, it has had a major issue converting third downs.
The Hurricanes (3-3) might have thought they had cured their woes last week against Georgia Tech, which entered the game ranked 117th nationally — among the bottom 10 teams — in making third-down stops. The Hurricanes failed to convert on four of five third-down opportunities.
Now ranked last in the nation in third-down success (15-for-63, 23.8 percent), UM should have renewed hope against Cincinnati. The Bearcats (2-2), who visit at noon Saturday (FSN), have the softest third-down defense in the country, allowing opponents to convert 55.2 percent of the time.
How to solve this paradox of resistible-force-meets-movable-object?
“You’ve got to execute. You’ve got to catch the ball. You’ve got to do everything right,” UM wide receiver Phillip Dorsett said.
The lack of success is a major reason the Hurricanes’ offense, considered one of the most talented in the ACC, has not produced many highlight-reel plays. UM is 29th in yards per play, but ranks just 84th in yards per game and 81st in points. The Hurricanes are 114th in time of possession (27:09 per game) and held the ball for less than 20 minutes against Georgia Tech, their worst single-game figure in at least 20 years.
Coach Al Golden said some of his players might also need to relax.
“Maybe we’ve just got to stop thinking about it and start going,” Golden said. “We’ve looked at it, we’ve managed it in a lot of different ways.”

Watching this thing unravel is so sad. I don't think anybody will be supporting Goldie after Saturday. I thought we finally turned a corner with this hire. And we did in the PR area. That X and O area though. :-/
I was soooooo wrong. I was also blinded by hope. OGV analyzed that hire better than anybody. He wouldn't even give Goldie a chance as most of us did. OGV, you nailed it bro. []_[]

REALLY??? This is unexceptable and there is NO EXCUSE that AG can provide to make me think differently.
Teams like Kent State, Buffalo SMU, FAU have better percentages.....

Has anyone heard of the FXFL? They are an upstart league (FXFL) with teams in Boston, Brooklyn and Omaha as well as one coming to Florida (going to be called the Blacktips). A few recognizable names and former 'Canes AJ Highsmith on Omaha and Cannon Smith on Boston (showing The U and Memphis). Just thought I should post for a 'Where Are They Now?' type thing!

They would probably run her up the middle.
Posted by: KYcane | October 09, 2014 at 11:25 AM
UMike is way too ugly for me to believe that's his daughter, lol.
So here's the deal with the bubble screen. If you follow the offense closely you'll see that the bubble screen is a check down based on a defensive look, so in essence James Coley isnt really calling them, Brad Kaaya is. Now should James and Brad be working on opening up that portfoio? Yes of course. And should James be in Brad's ear about when that's an appropriate check? Yes, because 3rd and 7 is not the place to use that. Miami needs to do more to trust its WRs even after the look is bad. Trust Dorsett can beat a two deep. Trust Coley can beat a safety etc.

No way that the 'Nati BareCats can beat the CANES at home without their first string QB.
But I wouldn't bet on Miami to beat the Las Vegas odds . . . not with "Temple Tough" Golden, and his sidekick "No D", running the program.

LUTHER ROBINSON
"Across the locker room, center Corey Linsley is told Robinson only started a couple games in college. At first, he's confused.
"What do you mean he started one or two games?" Linsley said.
That's it, he's told. Then, quizzical turns to bewildered.
"That's amazing," he said. "He was a good player from Day 1. You could tell. I would have never guessed that. Somebody screwed up."

Crazy thing with Robinson, is Him & Khalil Mack played on the SAME TEAM! I saw that team play once, they showed up to the game with 2 van loads of kids, and they whooped this team that had like 50-60 kids on the sidelines by 40+ points.

Look at the lack of Talent we supposedly had under Flawless: Marcus Fortson was on the NE practice squad, Luther Robinson - Packers, Sean Spence - Steelers, Olivier Vernon - Phins, Adewale Ojomo - Played for the Giants
