Are U ready for some football?
So U think U can handle the big city?
Well, can U handle the bright lights of the big stage?
Well those questions will be answered on Saturday night at Sun Life Stadium when ACC rival Florida State comes to town to face your Miami Hurricanes. The big city and bright lights will be ready for this prime time matchup between to fierce enemies for bragging and recruiting rights across the State.
Surprisingly to some, no make that most or many, your Hurricanes have been given a very good chance to beat the Seminoles. In fact the betting experts in Vegas has FSU as just a 1.5 favorite (toss up game) over UM.
And get this: As I was just watching the ESPN college football halftime show during the game between UCF and Tulsa tonight, both Lou Holtz AND Mark May chose the Hurricanes to beat the Seminoles!
Now I have to ask you: "When was the last time THAT happened?"
So here we go again, but only if you, and your Hurricane heart, can take it.
Another prime time matchup and another HUGE game for UM head coach Al Golden and his team. Should the Hurricanes manage to pull off this signature win over their in-State rival there will most definitely be a shift in the balance of power between Tallahassee and Miami.
Big city, bright lights.
And one huge college football game.
Bring it on baby, because we ready, we ready!
Yeah

Sheldon McClellan scored 19 points as Miami routed Howard, 84-49, in the teams' season opener Friday night.
The Hurricanes started the game on a 17-1 run during the first 7:53 and never trailed. Manu Lecomte scored six points in Miami's early surge and James Palmer's 3-pointer with 12:27 remaining ended the spurt.
McClellan, a Texas transfer playing in his first game for the Hurricanes, shot 8-of-12 from the field. Angel Rodriguez, a Kansas State transfer, also had a successful debut for Miami with 16 points.
The Bison missed their first 14 shots. James Daniels' steal and driving layup 8:13 into the game ended the drought.
Rodriguez hit a 3-pointer with 8:20 left in the half for Miami's first 20-point lead at 28-8. The Hurricanes' largest lead of the half was 39-13 on Deandre Burnett's two free throws with 2:49 remaining.
Rodriguez's two free throws with 10 seconds left gave Miami a 45-21 lead at halftime.

Soup... Where are you fine folks tailgating tomorrow?
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | November 14, 2014 at 10:43 PM
I will not be there but UMike will be there in my place with my Tix and shared parking pass with KYCane at E5 which is a green lot on the SE side of the Stadium. They arrive early!
They will be actually between E5 and E4 but look for the familiar faces. I'll post photos tomorrow. U may see a Canespace shirt, but if not just ask around for where the "Canespace" tailgate is at.
Canezilla is at E3 but he and his friends are wierd and squirrely so watch out. There is a really BIG guy who hangs out with them, but punch him once in the jaw and he goes down. NBD.

EPI...just look around E5 and find the guys U have seen in the photos from the tailgate. If U cant find them look for the BIGGEST guy walking around by E3 and ask him about Canespace. No seriously he knows where we are at. He is Canezilla's friend and will walk U over.

Why aren't u going to be there? This is FSU!!!!
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | November 15, 2014 at 12:19 AM
EPI...Couple of reasons:
1. I promised UMike my tix WAY back when for this special event. He earned them.
2. Next year I hope to take OhioCane to the FSU game in Tally with Terrance, OldSkool and NativeCane.
3. Ohio and UMike have done more for this blog than anyone else and they should be rewarded.
4. I know this is gonna sound bad but I am getting old and really I can't take the sold out games anymore. I like it when there is no traffic, I can park with ease, walk in the stadium, it is half full and I can sit where I want to in the shade and have 5-7 seats to myself.
5. Like I said, I know it sounds bad. But since 1973 I have been going to games and since 1981 I have had season tickets. I was at the OB before being at the OB was cool. I have been to so many great games, in all of the stadiums home and away, against great opponents, with great coaches and we kicked their butts (after 1982).
6. It is a young man's game now and the stress and hassle of a sold out game in Miami does not interest me. I'll go to Tally next year just for kicks and giggles and to see the Canes beat the Noles, AGAIN!

I suspect certain business commitments must be honored and for all he does for us with this site, I don't know, maybe just me, but we should respect it. Nobody wants us to win this game more than Soup, and I mean no one, for he lives, breathes, and carries the joy, drama, thrills and burden of running this site.

The flip side is getting old is better than the alternative.
SJM... I wasn't casting aspersions.. Was just curious why he wasn't going. Whether somebody goes to every game or not doesn't make em more or less of a fan.

I love how you have a totally open-and-shut reason not to go, but you still have to establish your Cranky Old Fan street cred.
Me, I avoid standing in lines under the sun at all costs. I WISH I avoided the plague like I avoid standing in lines under the sun. Also, not to denigrate drunken idiots -- I've been known to wear that label from time to time -- but wow, there are going to be an unusually large number of drunken idiots out and about at that game.
Hmm. That didn't take as long to write as I was hoping. I've still got, what? Eleven freaking HOURS to kill?! Sonova...

I still love the huge crowds, jammed parking lots, drunk obnoxious fans, loud stadiums, every seat full and a beautiful, hot sunny day (except for noon starts in Sepember).
Only thing I can't stand is some roided out idiot UM "fan" yelling at some 70 year old and his wife who are there rooting for their team. That becomes a problem every time.
Minus the blazing sun, sure to see all of that tonight!
Can't wait!!
Go Canes!!

It was the sound of the phone at 4:00am that awoke Jimbo Fischer. He tried to ignore it, pulling his Seminole snuggie closer, but the buzzing persisted. A poor night's sleep was the final brick in a week punctuated by a growing sense of dread. Everything was coming down to this weekend.
He finally sat up and answered the phone. He had no idea of who it could be - his players and coaching staff were under strict curfew instructions. The ID only read YAMMA YAMMA.
"This is Coach", he said wearily.
There was silence on the other end for a moment. Then stifled laughter.
"This is your wake up call. Seminoles...come out and pllllaaayyyyy....."
More laughter, and the phone went dead. The hotel room seemed to get smaller, and suddenly it seemed...it was 1988 again.

this is from caneswarning.com. an interview with brian blades :
CW: As a former Hurricane who won a National Championship, do you think Al Golden and this coaching staff have the program moving in the right direction to get back to the mountaintop?
BB: I’m still an Al Golden guy, I’m just not a big fan of D’Onofrio right now. The thing is the last three or four weeks, he’s called a much more aggressive ballgame and that’s what Hurricanes fans are used to. If he keeps calling an aggressive style of play, the fans will start warming up to him and put the onus and the blame squarely where it belongs: on the players. But if you’re going to call a soft-hearted game, you’re going to get all the blame that fans have.
I don't know that I agree with brian. D'no has been money the last 4 games. just as much as the players have been developing, the coaches have been developing. remember, this is these coaches first taste of 'big boy football.' as much as its a beautiful thing to watch players develop, it is also as such to watch coaches develop. I think we should enjoy the ride.
Posted by: AfriCane | November 15, 2014 at 10:56 AM
....but if he strays again, us Haters will be here to steer him back on the right path, like we've already done this year. yes, we are the reason for the turn around. if you don't agree, go kick rocks...
