We interrupt our normal blogging on this Veterans' Day 2014 to offer a very sincere THANK U to all of the men and women who defend our freedom!
For all of those incredibly brave men and women who have served in the U.S armed forces and who have literally put their lives on the line to protect and defend the United States of America this blog is for U.
For all of the courageous men and women who recognized that freedom isn't free and found it necessary to put themselves in harms way we thank U.
For all of those Army soldiers who have fearlessly risked their lives to defend our Country in World Wars, regional conflicts and in other military battles against terrorists we honor U.
For all of those Navy sailors, who save the free world on the open seas, without concern for their own safety to defend the world's oceans we recognize U.
For all of those highly skilled Air Force pilots and their support crews who defend our airspace with their incredible talent and ability we salute U.
And for all of those who served as a Marine like my father who faught in Korea and served as a Staff Sargent in Camp LeJune, NC may God bless you and keep you safe and well. It is never easy being first in and last out. But the jarheads are not looking for easy anyway.
We wish all American defense personnel and all U.S. citizens across our great Nation the peace, freedom and security that all sovereign Nations deserve.
We would like to take this opporuntity to wish all of our armed forces and all of our Canespace Nation family and friends a safe, happy and fun Veteran's Day.
Miami Hurricane fans salute U and ask that God Bless America!
@PeterAriz: The kid is ready.

The article 30 posted just now goes back to what we were saying the other day. They are going to do everything they can to stop Duke.
That will be their game plan from start to finish.
If we can run successfully against them with that being their main point of emphasis, it will open up the rest of our offense beautifully.
Get good yardage on the ground early and we can expect a lot of play action in early downs as the game goes on.

@mattyports: Highest percentage of offensive plays going 10-plus yards, Power 5 schools: Oregon 26.4, Miami 25.7, Auburn 25.3, Ohio State 24.8.

The running game WILL NOT be there like the Louisville game if we don't pass the ball first!
Posted by: WWIN | November 11, 2014 at 12:13 PM
Go Canes...stopping Duke was their point of emphasis last season, and Duke still had good success running the ball...and that was against better personnel than they have this season...and with our deep threat in PD4 being out.
But like I said, this FSU team is missing something, and I think it's Joyner. Joyner was to FSU, what Ed Reed was to UM...the heart & soul of the defense.
Posted by: CaneRock | November 11, 2014 at 12:29 PM
I want DP52 or DB2 to level Cook or Lane and then throw up the U, hell with the flag!!
Posted by: UMike | November 11, 2014 at 12:33 PM
Total Agreement Rock Lamarcus Joyner was pulling his best impersonation of Ed Reed. Hopefully our Canes will end their 25 game win streak on Saturday Night at Sun Life. See U all there.

Leading tackler on the team is All ACC First team DP52, but DB2 is second in tackles and Grace5 is third. Mccord has been ACC LB of the week, and Burns is a shutdown CB. Elder has also emerged. The emergence of Bush and Grace5 has been a pleasant surprise and we are starting to see the kind of player development that has been missing the last couple of years on D.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 11, 2014 at 01:33 PM
Windy why are you posting that nonsense.
Media, booster and fan pressure, capped off by the final stroke of genius, the banner, is why the D has improved.
Everyone knows that.
Posted by: Go Canes | November 11, 2014 at 01:46 PM
It was clearly Goldens animation on the sidelines which caused this improvement.

Something I didn't know. Both boys have the same awful illness:

Posted by: WWIN | November 11, 2014 at 01:48 PM
I want tosee explosive plays in the passing game, but you have to run effectively to set up Kaaya for the pass.
I would like to see the Canes pound the rock, but continue to mix up the runs going stretch left and right, off tackle, shotgun, reverses, sweeps, wildcat and counters. Anything to keep the DL off balance so that the OL can turn Goldman and Edwards just enough to allow Duke to make that cut and get to second level and we know what happens Duke does that- kiss the baby, that man is gone!
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 11, 2014 at 02:00 PM
My only beef with our coaches over the last month is not saving the wildcat til this game.
Would have been impossible for FSU to plan for and could have been a nice new wrinkle.
Posted by: Go Canes | November 11, 2014 at 02:08 PM
@YahooForde: Whoa. Louisville just announced that QB Will Gardner is done for the year with a knee injury.

FSU is now down to a 1.5 point favorite by many current betting line
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 11, 2014 at 02:50 PM
I hope the coaches realize that FSU is going to try and make us one dimensional. They will absolutely try and make Kaaya beat them, stacking the line of scrimmage. It's time for Dorsett & Coley to step up and if we can make that happen, dare I say CANES WIN, 31-27 BUT if those 2 disappear, it could get ugly.
Posted by: That was then this is Now | November 11, 2014 at 03:10 PM
I think this game comes down to walford and check downs. 36-20 miami. What the heck do we have to loose.

Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 11, 2014 at 02:00 PM
No we don't. What the running game has done the past 3 games have already set up the passing game. If fsu plans on stopping the run, then the passing game will be set up on the first play. You don't have to run it to pass it unless a team tries to take away your passing game.
Posted by: WWIN | November 11, 2014 at 04:27 PM
Brad Kaaya in the 6 wins averages 22.8 pass attempts. In the 3 losses, Kaaya averages 32 attempts.
In the wins, the Canes average 41 rushing attempts for 256.8 yards. In the three losses, the Canes average 23 attempts for 84.33 yards per game (some of those rushes are qb sacks).
prealize that if the Canes cannot establish the run, they struggle
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 11, 2014 at 05:07 PM
You are spot on as usual Windy. We need balance on offense to succeed, with an ability to gain positive yards on 1st down. That comes in the form of a running game.
Ask yourself this, if we come out passing and struggle, then where do we turn.
Posted by: Go Canes | November 11, 2014 at 05:27 PM
I expect Kaaya, Duke and Walford to be household names Sunday morning.
Posted by: The Wizard | November 11, 2014 at 05:39 PM
Cloud? What cloud?
@ChristyChirinos: #Canes OC James Coley knows about the recruiting battles UM & FSU have been fighting recently. Says Noles made gains because of NCAA inquiry
@ChristyChirinos: Coley: "Part of it is just the overall cloud of the NCAA. It allowed for the doors to open up for this staff up there. That made it easier."
Posted by: Go Canes | November 11, 2014 at 05:45 PM
The cloud, and the NCAA investigation, Emmert talking about a death penalty possibility for Miami, and self-imposed significant scholarship reductions, we're just a figment of our imagination. It was just Golden using his used car salesman trickery. We all know that.
Posted by: Lurker | November 11, 2014 at 06:13 PM
Balance isn't doing something 50% of the time such as pass, or doing something else 50% of the time such as run...that's NOT balance, that's being PREDICTABLE!
Balance is being able to do what you need to do, when you need to do it!
As has been the case the last 3 games, we've run the ball down our opponents throats BECAUSE WE CAN!
Posted by: CaneRock | November 11, 2014 at 06:18 PM
Yeah, Duke & GT really benifitted from "the cloud" with all those 4 & 5 *s that they got.
Didn't know you needed 4 or 5 *s to cover the Center against GT...or 4 & 5*s to keep Curtis Porter from covering scat-backs against UVA.
"The Cloud"...oh yoi yoi.
But that's nuhnuh my business, carry on...#LIPTON!

There is zero excuse for not having a bowl win since 2006.
There is even less than one for never having appeared in the ACC Championship, despite it being the weakest of the BCS Conferences.
